  • The Sp seems to have a tad bit more low end and a resonant-ish effect. i dunno....all i know is I'm getting one eventually to add to the MPC60 and ASR-10....they'll be called "3 Kings" LOL.

  • Emax sounds better to me ...

  • how do u export the sequence on ur sp 1200 to an mp3

  • I really need to pick up an sp1200... Too bad their $2000 on ebay

  • i would want to hear EII vs sp1200 comparison.

  • what's the second at 0.00 & at 2.56?!

  • @puga4eva that is a song called back2back off of dxa progression album. it was produced by s.raw

  • Emax sounds better to my ear, I got an ultra though.

  • you cant go on this comparison the sp has different filters on different outs, i dont know if the emax uses filters in the same way, i love my sp wouldnt trade it 4 nuffin, ive got a mpc 2000xl & it sounds shit next 2 the sp, thank god 4 the ssm filter chip

  • @gadz1 you are right, this sounds like the sp samples are on the dynamic filtered pads 7+8 the emax samples sound unfiltered which is the default setting you have to go in and pick your filter cutoff frequency and resonance on the emax rather than the hard wired settings on the sp, they both sound really good. I think what sets the sp apart is the timing on it's sequencer makes it sound more human than an mpc the emax sequencer is not worth comparing to the one on the sp.

  • sp 1200 at 45 all day

  • lol i love that sp1200 warm fuzzyness.thats my dream machine

  • waitin for the pt.2

  • s950 has more crunch than both of these put together.

  • @vegunited06

That is why I got them all :) The SP12, 1200, S950 and for those new school beats the MPC5000....

  • hmmm the emax sounds better in my opinon and fatter but not as grity -- think i might just get an emax , i already own a emulator II which sounds close to the sp1200

  • The SP has a resonant grunge that I prefer over the Emax, but then again Sp-1200's go for RIDICULOUS prices these days.

  • If anyone in the US has an emax for sale, hit me up.

  • emax almost sounds better and just as punchy.

good thing I have both :)

  • you can hear the SP has that Fuzz and the Snares are a bit more snappy... but the Emax sounds a Bit Cleaner and Thicker.

im ok with my XL but still want a SP

  • ah man...nice intro..some good ol' SP1200 boom bap with some dope MC's..dope.

    I like that Emax too..

  • SP1200 Got that Thunder

  • i'd prefer the sp1200 mainly cause my respect to raw hip hop. but the emax has better quality sound

  • I think they both could complement each other. Do certain samples on one and certain samples on the other. That would great for creating a custom sound.

  • i like that sp sound much better the Emax sounds cartoony

  • Cartoony? lol.

Buy one and i tell you you won't be able to say that anymore.

I used to use both and Emax I is a huge sounding sampler.

Can sound cleaner or dirtier than SP.

Emax can ring somewhat like SP (the latter is unique) but you have to lower sampling rate, not necessary trying to match SP.sampling rates.

  • Heard the intro joint on Sun Raw's page, shit's siiiiiick

  • eh bro word up...i do this same test on my emax and sp..just no camera at the time bro..emax is dope for the long boys tho with that long sample time.

  • Thank You for that...

  • excellent vid

  • DXA goes hard!!! Lovin' the music fam. keep up

    MUNOZ

    Beaufort, SC

  • i will try to do a part two that meets your request!

  • Emax sounds dirty but the SP detuned snares double crack/snap! (as expeted).

    Good concept/work man.

Special request: can you do the next test with an original 60's/70's vinyl pressing drums/sample? to see how hard you can make it hit.
