He did leave religious life, after completing his 6 years of temporal vows and decided, along with the congregation, it was best to focus on his music to a degree that the vows weren't made for. In the end, it's the same, he's getting ready for more singing in 2011 but this is a bit a more complete story than the one you've been shouting... :p

Paddy was "the bandleader", he wrote lot of songs. 2004 they published the last album together. In the same year Paddy published a solo album ("In Exile"). In much songs of Paddy you can hear, that the love to god the most important thing is for him. In the years before he became a monk he wandered to lourdes etc. That was the change.
