  • dude ANYONE hwo even finishes the race is a freakion ironman or ironwoman. I wouldn't even make the first mile of swimming. Dang.

  • Lance was amazing at Triathlons and no doubt he will still be good but cancer changed his body shape in such a way he would not be quite the same and doubt he still is cancer made his arm and upper body much much lighter thus allowing him to win 7 tour de Frances either way i hope he does well!

  • Lance was a very good swimmer and we all know what kind of cyclist he is/was. He stopped triathlons at age 16-17 to pursue cycling full time (good decision, as it turns out). But, same as Carmichael, Lance can't run. The only chance he has is maybe winning his 'amateur' age group. His age won't help him. The pro triathletes will smoke him if he shows up now, and that would include Chrissie. Obviously, the Ironman owners will provide him an exemption, if primarily for the media exposure.

  • I wonder how lance is gonna do... hes gonna make up whatever distance he loses in the swim come bike time I wonder how good of a runner he is though

  • @TyreezyTyrak He competed in triatholons until he was around 18 and won most of them.

  • Lance doesn't have a chance. He won't even beat Chrissie Wellington.

  • @mathman43 Chrissie Wellington is a badass. Most people can't beat her.

  • if he can do 1/10th of what hes done for cycling to triathlon that would be so huge for the sport

  • Lance AMstrong?? to race 2011 Ironman World Championships

  • I'M STOKED! I think an exemption to qualifying is ok in this case-DUH!

  • which race will he do to qualify ? or is he just hoping he gets a lottory place like i have tried to for the last 6 years? or does HE just turn up and race ? i'll try again in 2012 not 2011!!

  • @ironmanc5 I would say that because the attention to both the race and the Livestrong foundation they just let him race, no qualify needed.

  • @IAmPatientCero

or how more likely: at the age of 15 he was rivaling USA's top triathletes. This man was born into triathlons - his cycling super stardom came after.

  • Can't wait to see him get back into Tri's!!!
