Pogorelich actually has a recent recording of Ondine (it's here on youtube) and it's fantastic. Just because he plays slower doesn't mean he's gone mad. He just wants you to hear everything he brings out in the music.
Pogorelic was certainly the most controversial pianist in decades. His fans consider him one of the great pianists in history and a genius. His detractors see all of his eccentricities and inability to be consistent as a performer. Perhaps this piece is his best opportunity to showcase himself. It certainly is not the ultra erratic Liszt Sonata or dull Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 recordings. And compared to the other recordings, this sounds good - not much competition only helps.
Thanks for this upload..it's beautiful

Stupendous. When was this recorded? Obviously before Pogorelich went mad.

This is incredibly restrained for Pogorelich, it's a really mesmerising performance. Thank you for sharing!
