Thanks very much for putting up this video. I don't hunt yet, but I have a Brittany that is so eager to do this sort of thing that I'm thinking of starting just for his sake. You're making that dog very happy and fulfilled.
I love the relationship you share with your pup! My old bird dog died in August and I really miss her. I have been thinking of getting a new pup but not really certain on what I want. She was a mutt half Brittany half German Shorthair. Great dog loved to hunt, point and retrieve. Did you train this pup?
Dear Hunter, I´m from Brasil and I have 3 Pointers, we hunting wild birds here. There are a lot of partridge in north of Brasil in the soya plantation. One of my dog don´t bring the chase. Do you know some tip to learn me how make the dog bring.
I gotta agree with you barbaryhawking. I have a pointer from Swedish lines and we score low in hunt tests and field trials due to the ignorance of American judges on how a pointer should point. We almost have 2 different breeds of pointers here in the States. We have the ugly, tiny pointers that hunt and the huge confirmation pointers that couldn't hunt if they tried. Blend it back together the way it used to be...a pointer that could hunt and look good doing it!!!!
@barbaryhawking It's not a race, it's a breed. If you don't like it, spend a century breeding to your standards and see if anyone else approves. I don't know which breed of dog you hunt with, but I certainly would wager he/she has more class than you.
it definitely depends on where you are hunting. I have both an English pointer and a Wirehaired griffon. The English pointer rocks in West TX (which is where I do most of my hunting) but the Griff kicks ass in South Dakota. It is also really nice to have dog that is good on dead birds/retrieving. Most finished pointers these days are terrible retrievers. The Griffs casts out at about 70-100 yards. The English pointer runs at 200 yards+.
I have had dogs that their tail position on point was indicative of the strength of scent of what they were locked in on. higher for larger numbers of birds etc. What a great partner you have there. I am envious.
She's just beautiful!

good nose and straight tail. I hve one english pointer that has very good nose and straight tail point.

where I come from that would find woulod score terriable with that tail and low front
bethandernie 4 years ago
you Americans destroyed the race by breeding a dog whose tail looks as having an er*****n.
An English pointer should have the tail in one line with the back when on point.

@Payton1221 What the hell is up with your dog? why is it in that position for so long? Is that even real dog? IS that trained?

Little close for a English Pointer no? I would expect that range from a flusher but not a pointer.
