It's not the children's fault. The parents are the problem these days. They want to be their kids friends instead of parents. Parents swear in front of their kids, want to be cool in their kids eyes, and end up doing a horrible job parenting. Also, what I've seen is that parents don't want to sacrifice things for their kids these days. Like spending time, putting on songs that are appropriate for kids in the car, monitoring what kids watch on tv, etc.
What you said about finding an adult whose opinions you value... my parents never really supported me and im terrified of their opinions. my family and i are more like friends rather than a family. people say that you should have about 5 adults you could talk to. my parents arent included. im terrified of talking to my parents because everything is always thrown back at me and im made fun of. how am i supposed to feel when my parents dont care or take everything personally?
i also wanted to say that i really connected with the story of your nephew. my cousin is autistic, and it is very obvious. he is extremely friendly and i left him at a playground once stupidly while i went to get his water bottle. i came back and there were 3 kids much bigger than him about my size, and im 5 7 and about 180 pounds and i thought this was enough, and i was almost forced into a fight to defend my wonderful cousin until my cousin began to preach about how bad violence is.
jeff you came to my school (Housatonic Valley Regional) and i completely agree with this. im not saying that i always do everything im told, but there are many kids who figure they are free to do whatever they want. they have no respect whatsoever for their parents, teachers, or other authority figures. i loved your show, wish i could see it again.
hi jeff this is a student from ramapo ridge that you visited and I thought that your story about your nephew patrick was very sad i hope that you will inspire more teens and adults

The younger generation is nothing short of horrific.
1. ENTITLEMENT - spoiled kids expect the world to hand them things like their parents did
2. SUPERFICIAL - Misplaced value on superfical issues, marriage based on nothing
3. NO MOTIVATION - Why would a dog hunt when he is fed a steak dinner
4. INSTANT GRATIFICATION - No financial planning, rushing marriage
5. NO WORK ETHICS - Entitlement syndrome results in them expecting more for working less.
PARENT YOUR CHILDREN, NOT PANDER!
