SOULDHEAD1981 - Without a doubt, you are someone with extreme mental issues. You sound like a child in your posts.."YOU DONT KNOW THE FUNK, I KNOW THE FUNK!" lol, man do you have a life at all? Look at how angry you got just because I called Jamiroquai unique. You'll never convince me otherwise, it's an opinion..respect it. In my original post I acknowledge that they are simply "keeping the sound alive". No need to jump down my throat when I'm praising Jamiroquai on a Jamiroquai video. idiot.
@C0leman Errrr..In my posts i sound like someone who knows Soul Music,as do the others who have referred to this track as a Stevie Wonder or Roy Ayres sound. Please note that I respectfully called you "Sir" from the outset. You are the one who started to use abusive language and i decided to respond to you in kind. If you think Jamiroquai is unique its because you know nothing about 70/80s Jazz/Funk .Your opinion is based on ignorance. Mine is based on nearly 40 years of listening to Soul&Funk.
@C0leman Final comment..I've wasted enough time on an Ignoramus like you.I got work to do.Shame the thumbs up for the"sounds like Stevie Wonder" comment seems to have suddenly vanished,but no surprise there, and if you think you can do an "Elvis Presley" on this Generation it wont work.Theres way too many Disco-Heads, Soul-Heads and Funk-Survivors, from the 1970s like ME to ever let that happen. If you think you can wipe out 30+ years of Funk and attribute it all to JK your dreaming..PERIOD.!!!
Also, you are ignorant to ignore my main point in my original post...most of the bands who started Funk no longer play it. We should be praising bands like Jamiroquai still coming out with great music...
@C0leman .I know the Funk insisde out you clearly dont.I have heard TWOM and are you seriously telling me that is unique? Are you seriously Saying that Jamiroquai invented that style of groove? That Sir is pure mid 70s jazzfunk.The type of thing Issac Hayes,The Brothers Johnson,Larry Graham,George Duke,Patrice Rushen,Roy Ayres,Johnny Hammond,Donald Byrd,Herbie Hancock to name just a few were doing back then.you obviously know very little about Black Music.Its you sir that is ignorant.
@C0leman Many of the bands still play we see them regularily I saw Brass Construction/Tom Browne just the other day.Many of the old bands are still releasing music but unless you are a true Funk fan ie not spoonfed by the mainstream media you wont know about it.Jamiroquai have done more than most to keep the Funk alive and i own most of their albums.If they have a sound then its in their later albums.Their early stuff is Straight 70s FUNK.simple. I was there, i wore the flares I had the Afro.
@Soulhead1981 Ok there Mr. Funk Master who uploads a few Isley tunes and expects praise...,we all have to bow down and kiss your ass now. Go jump off a bridge please so we can enjoy videos without people like you trolling with completely unnecessary comments.
@C0leman I dont expect praise from anyone and i am certainly not a troll.I am here because i like Jamiroquai.There are Jamiroquai tracks on my channel.Your just upset because you thought you knew it all but now realize you know nothing lol. Now go back and listen to the artists i have listed below and educate yourself about the Funk, Before running of your big mouth.
@Soulhead1981 My problem is that you had a 3 paragraph response to a positive comment about Jamiroquai being unique and inventive. I don't need some ego driven asshole to type bullshit that doesn't need to be said. Every single artist you listed I do know, I just don't need to run my mouth about my library. Shut your dumb mouth before you sound anymore fucking stupid
@C0leman No you shut YOUR dumb fucking mouth YOU are the one who looks stupid as you have demonstrated you don't have a fucking clue about the Funk. If you Knew those artists or 70s soul music you wouldn't call Jamiroquai unique.The thumbs up for "Sounds like Stevie Wonder" above and the comments made by others a few pages back should give even a Dumbass Bigot like you a clue as to the origins of this track.I have proven i know the funk.You have proven you know nothing. So fuck you.
@C0leman ....And if you don't like people responding to your comments then don't fucking post anything.... Especially when you don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about.
That's the problem people...most of the bands who did have this sound have either stopped making music or have moved onto ballad albums. No more in your face funk or long jams on tight grooves. Jamiroquai and Galactic (in my opinion) have kept this sound alive the best out of anybody in 2012. Plus, I think what Jamiroquai comes out with is very unique/different from all of the old 70's/80's funk groups. These guys will go down in Funk history w/ the Isleys, Funkadelic, HeadHunters, etc...
@C0leman Unique? With the geatest of respect Sir I have been listening to the Funk for over 35 years and let me assure you there is nothing they have done that i didnt hear back in the 70s including this.The musical arrangement's,baselines,strings,guitar riffs the keyboard sounds they use,are all from 70/80s Funk.The intro is a reworking of Bob James Westchester lady and the rest is half way between Stevie Wonder and Roy Ayres.as anyone who truly knows the Funk would hear immediately.see above
@C0leman Comparing Black Music innovators like George Clinton's Funkadelic / Parliament or The Isley Brothers,Contemparies of Hendricks and co who helped turn one branch of the Blues into the original heavy metal guitar music sound in the late 60s and refined and crafted the Funk through the early 70s with a 1990s UK Funk cover band is if i may say a quite hilarious statement! There is no comparison whatsoever.As i said below Jamiroquai are good but they are imitators of Funk NOT the creators :)
@Soulhead1981 Sorry, you're wrong. If you listened to Jamiroquai's entire catalog then you would easily notice that they have created music that past bands have never done. Sure, they are inspired by artists like the Isleys or P-Funk but that doesn't mean that they aren't unique or talented. Jamiroquai is FUNK. Being a funk fan yourself I'm shocked you disagree. Check out the Abbey Road Sessions version of "Travelling Without Moving" - you probably won't but that is funk at its finest.
Noo o_0 accidentally clicked on thumbs down!! immidiatly clicked up again but i wonder if that doesn't retreat my downthumbing. More coffee for meeee T_T
Don't cha' jus' love how every one of their songs make you jump up an shake ya' a**? Even us white guys try, miserably, to dance. Ya' cannot sit still with Jamiroquai rockin'.
Saludos :D
Prince used to do this same kind of thing--release a bunch of dope sh** as B-sides on his hit singles...some of 'em would become HUGE, like "Erotic City" (possibly the all-time champ of his B-sides, in my opinion). Thanks for posting that tune!
True,but what always impresses me is the way Jamiroquai brilliantly recreate the authentic sound of the funk.If you had told me this was made in 1978 i would have believed it.could have been an EWF b-side as well.Erotic city was one of my all time favourites..that baseline was something else!good post thx :)
@ClassicTV4U Erotic city is a great track from Prince. I recommend getting the Prince 3 disc album with the 3rd disc having the B-sides. Shockadelica and She's Always in My Hair and Erotic City are my personal favourites (there are others but I forget). I think Jamiroquai should do something like that by releasing a B-side album. Favourite Jami album? I've listened to them all they're all awesome albums! Latest album was pretty good too, didn't really like Funk Oddesey. Especially loved Synkronized and Dynamite.
@spankinpop ...Hmmmm...These "notes / grooves" as you call them come from a generation earlier, from people like; Johnny Hammond, Roy Ayres, Issac Hayes, Stevie Wonder, (early) Prince /S.O.S band, Shalamar, Dynasty, Chic, Sister Sledge, Change, New York Skyy, Patrice Rushen, Brothers Johnson, Quincy Jones,EWF, ect....Jamiroquai haven't "CREATED" anything at all. They just copy the Jazz / Funk Disco of the 70s. They do it well agreed, but they didn't create it.
Dont get me wrong i still think they are a great band. It just that some tubers seem to think that they invented 70s jazz funk and created this sound, where as those of us who remember the disco years have heard it all before thats all.I have a couple of their albums btw :)
@Traceurb not just "keyboards" but the mother of all electronic pianos--the Fender Rhodes. The Fender Rhodes is the hallmark of all of the funkiest bands ever known to man and the drive behind Jamiroquai's attraction to multi-ethnic funk aficionados...
@Traceurb rhodes piano, but could be a wurlitzer electric keyboard. warwick bass guitar, perhaps a telecaster guitar. trumpet, trombone, sax, percussion, turntables, drums. clavinet in the chorus, that's the croaking sort of sound.
@AndreaMercuzio IM SORRY MATE , but your comment is the only thing rubbishy in here. you said a nice track and garbage . it dont matter who wrote the song , if its good, its good!
Sorry, but yours is a shallow comment to my comment: first of all I'm free, as you are too and everybody here, to like or dislike whatever I want, on second hand I didn't say that this track is garbage but I think this is a nice tune! Morever I've found some fake tracks with name Jamiroquai, that are not original played bu them!Now is more clear for you??! And , just to underline:I love and follow the Jamiroquai since 16 years ago.. so please wash your mouth when you talk with me about JK.thanks
@AndreaMercuzio if the fake tracks are good it dont matter who wrote them . the only thing they would have made wrong is that they used someone else's name to promote it, which is sad. + i dont recall saying anything about free speech . I just called your comment rubbish .
i dont care who it is... i just enjoy it . Jamiroquai has been on for 28 years , i can expect them to have made rubbish songs too. everyone does .
Huge fan.

@cosmicfake it's not a rhodes piano?
naza220 5 months ago
@naza220 i think it's a wurlitzer or pianet/clavinet duo
destituteillusion 4 months ago
@Traceurb not just "keyboards" but the mother of all electronic pianos--the Fender Rhodes. The Fender Rhodes is the hallmark of all of the funkiest bands ever known to man and the drive behind Jamiroquai's attraction to multi-ethnic funk aficionados...
KappAWR 1 year ago
@Traceurb rhodes piano, but could be a wurlitzer electric keyboard. warwick bass guitar, perhaps a telecaster guitar. trumpet, trombone, sax, percussion, turntables, drums. clavinet in the chorus, that's the croaking sort of sound.

@Traceurb
The keyboard is the wonderfull Rhodes piano.

@AndreaMercuzio IM SORRY MATE , but your comment is the only thing rubbishy in here. you said a nice track and garbage . it dont matter who wrote the song , if its good, its good!
MalteSer001 1 year ago
Sorry, but yours is a shallow comment to my comment: first of all I'm free, as you are too and everybody here, to like or dislike whatever I want, on second hand I didn't say that this track is garbage but I think this is a nice tune! Morever I've found some fake tracks with name Jamiroquai, that are not original played bu them!Now is more clear for you??! And , just to underline:I love and follow the Jamiroquai since 16 years ago.. so please wash your mouth when you talk with me about JK.thanks
AndreaMercuzio 1 year ago
@AndreaMercuzio if the fake tracks are good it dont matter who wrote them . the only thing they would have made wrong is that they used someone else's name to promote it, which is sad. + i dont recall saying anything about free speech . I just called your comment rubbish .
i dont care who it is... i just enjoy it . Jamiroquai has been on for 28 years , i can expect them to have made rubbish songs too. everyone does .
MalteSer001 1 year ago
@AndreaMercuzio Yes they also played it on stage with lyrics !!

Great chillin track. I also really liked when they'd do this song live and Jay would add vocals. Wish they would've recorded a vocal version too.
