They did own it. All countries outside of Japan lost the license to Sailor Moon around 2003. Which is why Sailor Moon is no longer seen on tv or merchandise in America because no company (Dic or Cloverway) has the right to distribute or sell Sailor Moon property and can't claim ownership anymore.

You know that SMA Behind The Scenes Special? I converted MP3s from parts 5 & 6 [part 7 has the 'TM is gay' bit, but it's already uncensored] to get the uncensored sound, and I also converted the video and original audio of the episode. Then I 'undo' the editing, i.e. Replace the censored with the uncensored. Good thing the BGM's not here when they say the F-Bombs. I'd be f///// if they did use it.
