@Rarogne1926 My concern might be a "what happens if the Muslim Brotherhood takes control". Basically, I'm in the category of "hoping the extremists don't come to power there".
This is not 1981. Egypt has satellite TV and internet to inform the people whom are now much more educated then 30 years ago.
I believe FREE elections will give power to a moderate party, or at least i hope. Egyptians know that an extremist muslem gorvnment will never bring them better life conditions.
This makes for interesting viewing in light of the fact it was the LAST time Egypt had another leader, one who died for trying make peace. I don't know if they would show the protocol chief's mangled arm in today's broadcasts. Either it would be totally censored or played a million times over.
@longlance610 vision of what ..man you stupid ass fuck kissing ass of the zionist ..fuck sadad and may he burn in hell ..next will be mubarak for not stand in up against you'r enemy...neva make peace to your enemy ..that make them stronger and stronger ..that is the reasons the army killed him for being weak.......if he dind't go to ISRAHELL he woulnd't be dead ............LONG LIVE PALESTINE
@vtwzy As a former full-time newspaperman, I know what you're talking about. It's too bad they ceased to make the PC computed keyboards which have a great snap, crackle and pop.
Exactly what was the deal with the (lack of) security surrounding Sadat?
You'd think there would be more protection; particularly considering the then-recent assassination attempts on Pope John Paul II and President Reagan.
@garybsg no disrespect intinded but u should do more research about the man he was a lap dog he would befriend anyone that would help him to keep power and he was like any other dictator he tortured and killed thousands of his apponets and basicly stole his countries resources and sold them dirt cheap for his own financial gain in my opnion just because a man spouts peace rhetoric doesnt mean thats what he truely wants
@zulfiqar501 true and he may or may not have been a fiend but those men murdered him for for his peace efforts. Besides thats not how you deal with a selfish politician, the US would have murder almost all of its politicians by that standard.
Egyptian Pres. Anwar Sadat passed away at age 62 on October 6, 1981.

Looks like Mubarak might be on his way out. Just hoping the Muslim Brotherhood doesn't fill the power vaccum.

Anwar Sadat may God bless you. Sadat was a wise, brave, patriot. He had a vision far beyond other Arab leaders!
Peace be with your spirit Anwar Sadat.

Too bad today's newscasts do not include the ongoing sound of the typewriters in the background.
