I'd think most black people would have natural hair, a good amount of them with pressed/flat-ironed/etc for more variety and hair options, and a small minority of people with permed hair.

The only issue is that growing up I received racist comments from both sides so I don't claim either one. On all my applications I put "other" never one or the other. I respect your views. My opinion is Blasian is the only mixed ethnic group. An opinion is not always a fact, but I've grown up with a couple of black friends who have being brought up single-handed by their white mothers and it's also strange seeing them with their mothers because they look nothing like them, but compared to the fathers they just have lighter skin/hair and still have the 'black' features. It's same with Asians too. That's why I think theres no such thing as being 'half-white'.

Personally, I don't like being called black, just because I don't feel that it's right. I'm being judged by my outer appearance. I'm proud to be black and I'm proud to be white. But, I'm not just black &I'm not just white. I'm a mixed race and I think that I should be able to be proud of that. There are many confusing things that come with being mixed, like with your identity. And I believe more people should take that in to consideration. I am a mixed person and identify myself as that.
When I first moved to a rural area in PA and went to high school, I met this biracial girl named Desiray and one of the questions I asked while getting to know her was (before I knew her as bi-racial)... "how does it feel to be the only black girl in school"? She snapped on me and said "excuse you... I'm not black I'm mulato, and what kind of question is that anyway". Some bi-racial people do get offended when you call them black.

I respect your views. My opinion is Blasian is the only mixed ethnic group. An opinion is not always a fact, but I've grown up with a couple of black friends who have being brought up single-handed by their white mothers and it's also strange seeing them with their mothers because they look nothing like them, but compared to the fathers they just have lighter skin/hair and still have the 'black' features. Personally, I don't like being called black, just because I don't feel that it's right. I'm being judged by my outer appearance. I'm proud to be black and I'm proud to be white. But, I'm not just black &I'm not just white. I'm a mixed race and I think that I should be able to be proud of that. There are many confusing things that come with being mixed, like with your identity. And I believe more people should take that in to consideration. I am a mixed person and identify myself as that.

Lool, "identity crisis, because you don't know what side to identify with". No, just no! I do not have an identity crisis in fact I am very comfortable with my race and cherish it. I just refuse to accept one side of me and to ignore the other, my father should have as much acknowledgement as my mother. Simples, to call myself black would be denying my father, vice versa if I was called white.

So if other bi-racial people don't identify with just the black race why does that make them in denial or ashamed? Why is it so important for black people to claim every half black out there? I think they are identifying with what they are a mixed race. I know a lot of mixed individuals who identify with both of their heritage. I am black, Irish, First Nation Creek Indian, Chinese, and Spanish. Honestly I claim whatever part of me that I am feeling that day. Interesting video though.

The explanation I hear most often is that they love both parents and feel that if they called themselves either black or white rather than mixed would be an affront to one of their parents. What seems an "identity crisis" to me would be to feel the need to dismiss mixed race. Tyra did that often and Oprah did that to Tiger Woods, who said he didn't want to disrespect his Thai mother.
