My 4 year old brother has Downs and he started ASL when he was 6 months old. Your son is very good at it!! I'm so glad that therapists are using sign language as a way of communication for children with special needs.

Is your child in warly intervention? If so adress this issue to the education therapist, she has been teaching us ASL since he was 12 months. It has helped tremendously I can see what he wants and its less frustrating. Or get a ASL for toddlers DVD online. But your county should have speech therapy available, ask your IFSP coordinator, we as parents have that right to demand any service for our child with special needs!
