  • Hi there Jin Thank you so much for your amazing tutorial. I just bought a wooden dummy and really waiting for your tutorials for the rest of the dummy form. any chance ur working on it now? thanks!

  • Another awesome video Jin thanks, your instruction has really helped me in my own training, especially the finer points of structure and use of the hips, which often get over looked in classes with mixed abilitiy students. Just wondering if you have filmed the instruction for thesecond section of the muk jong form? Cant seem to find it.

    Thanks, keep the videos coming!

  • Even if you have access to a wooden dummy, do you think practicing air dummy or the dummy against a person like in this video is a good idea in addition to the actual wooden dummy?

  • best vid explaination on youtube

  • could you Jin please show us the 108 form or 116 form I don't see any form that u do.

  • Thank you very much for sharing. You have a good teaching demeanor. How long have you been teaching?

  • Very good information on how to attack the centre and why! Nice!

  • great vid

  • this guy clearly knows what he's talking about , well done guys. from the uk

  • Great video! I'm wondering why there're no comments on this one?! anyway, thanks jin, brian and john of course for his skills behind the camera! :)

  • Hi Jin Young (Chinaboxer), I must say your explanation is damn clear. Now I have a better understanding on how to practice wooden dummy as I am just beginning that stage. Anything on subsequent sections? Cheers,

  • Hey Jin.. thanks so much. One thought that you expressed will really help my mook jong training. You rock! (P.S. "Address the dummy... HELLLLO DUMMMYYY!" Hey, I know a Honeymooner's reference when I hear it!) LOL. Thanks again, Jin.

  • Brother what's up ?

Nice vid but i wanted to suggest that you'd better shift with the weight in the mid of your foor and not the heels because you will have weak structure.

If you will get pushed you will fall, it happened many times to me.

And if you apply fighting stance what is the percentage of weight on rear and front leg ?

Much respect... an wing chun artist.

  • Yo jin young,

Can you show us the sil lim tao movement application. Some of it will do.Thanks.Good day to you.

  • i'll add it to my "to do list" (which keeps growing every week!). peace!

  • Hello Mr. Young. Your videos are very easy to understand and I just want you to know you I really appreciate you taking the time. Whos the female in the background running by the way is she single? She looks smoking hot from here. Oh yea back to my appec\iation please continue to makes these wonderful videos as they give me the mental understanding that really benefits before my WC lessons.

  • Hi China Boxer

I wanted you to add a video how to work on dummy wood from basic and where i can buy a wooden dummy. Thanks for replying me

  • wooden dummy's are expensive, if you have the time, you can build one. if you have the money, you can purchase one from any martial arts supply store online.

  • China Boxer

Can you tell me how to work on wooden dummy and i like playing nanchaku and i know a little bit and i want to learn more and i want to learn, i am right handed and i want my left hand and left leg kick and punch same as right leg and right hand but i can not if you have any idea if you have time to explain me or have any video you can post me i shall be very thankful.

    Love You Brother

    Jahandost

  • hey Jahandost, make sure to take your time and stick to one thing until it becomes comfortable then move on to the next. don't be in a rush. that's the only way you can learn to use both left and right sides equally well. i'll get into more dummy drills in the future. take care and keep practicing!

  • I am Jahan dost and this is good your clip taught me many things that you did i appreciate and thank you for your video

  • heey Jahan, glad you are enjoying the videos. take care and peace!

  • hey im currently living in australia / Brisbane does any1 know where i can find a good wing tsun instructor here?

and china boxer where u guys located might give u guys a visit someday hahaha

    lol nice video btw.

  • we're located in los angeles. hope you find a good school!

  • Can't wait for the rest!

  • thanks for that. take care and peace!

  • It would be awesome if you can detail the rest of the wooden dummy form. You've got one of the best if not the best Wing Chun youtube videos out there.

  • thanks for the kind words. the rest of the form and breakdown will be done on the website that we're putting together. thanks again for the words of encouragement. peace!

  • confirmed. as usual, quality stuff.

  • thanks bro. peace!

  • haha, i made my neighbor as my new mook jong. but he likes it only for 10 minutes... i promised him helping him in the garden for being my dummy, so time for dirty garden work now...

  • hahaha..nice!

  • human dummy??? nice improvisation.

its serves the purpose for demonstration or instructions.

but its better to practice with a live partner that hitsback and respond than a dummy that dont. one object of a wooden dummy is substitute of a live partner if you dont have one. of course there are other purposes like learning dummy movements, arm conditioning ect..

its good tho u can use brian both as a dummy or live partner. hahaha

    clear cut demo. many thanks...

    respect...

  • have i missed anything?`is brian jins "life"-partner? haha

    just kiddin'

  • rofl..them's fighting words! -_o

  • no problemo. peace!

  • Very nice!

  • thanks! =D

  • Great! i was wondering about mok jun/wooden dummy (if thats how you spell it). I understand perfectly that the wooden dummy is for developing structure, not power.

  • you got it! it's also for developing your ability to "chase the opponents center" and not "chase the opponents hands".

  • cool

  • you practice with a 3 setion staff??? just saw it lol

  • nah..it's just for fun.

  • Brian is a pretty good dummy, lol.

    Glad you guys are back.

    Thanks for the video, men.

  • Jon would agree with you about the dummy part..=D

  • learn how to spell...

  • You'd need a pretty vague understanding of martial arts concepts to make such a comparison. Another thing is that your weak, unsubstancial bashing will most likely not provoke the response from Jin that you're looking for.

  • you are supposed to provide a vehicle for driving tests nowadays, dude.

  • this is by far the best video i've ever seen sifu jin, thank you:)

  • glad you enjoyed it and i hope it helps you in your training. peace!

  • it will defenitely work alot thank you so much!:)

  • Bryan's wily smile reveals he actually KNOWS a way to practise the low arm.

    Lmao

Awesome video jin, as always. :)

  • ROFL..i won't touch that one with a ten foot pole as they say. =D

  • lol i just dropped out of my seat laughing when i read this

  • Moral of that story is if you want to hit something hard then hit a punching bag.

  • hahah..great story! Alan Lee and Hawkins Cheung are very good friends. I've met Alan and he's a great guy. take care and peace!

  • the subject spoken of at 06:30 is the most important part. I totally agree. Alan Lee often speaks about how while studying with Yip Man one of the student was doing the dummy form very hard and then broke one of the arms. He was sooo happy that he went to Yip Man and said, "Sifu I finally did it, I broke the arm off the dummy". He shows Yip Man the broken arm. Yip man takes it and then smacks the student with it and then says, "you idiot, now we have to buy a new arm" LOL i love that story.

  • great story! i love that one too.

  • omg

    thanks jin

omg i am so moved tyyyy!!! i never expected that video is my favorite

  • no problemo, glad you enjoyed it. keep practicing and peace!

  • good vid

  • thank you!
