You can only jailbreak iphones (or ipod touches and ipads). You can root android phones, but for the average person it doesn't make much sense, since you can do almost everything with a non rooted android phone. Rooting is more for loading on different ROMs or getting by hardware limitations (like overclocking or whatever).
