  • 240 hp isnt shitty..its old school

  • One of the only members that can carry a song by himself...

  • I think the issue is rap is now just like sports it's more about making money then make music. If u watch college sports there's more passion and realness when the players are doing their thing. When they go pro it's "My contract isn't big enough!" I think that the same thing in music. I'm 28, a product of the Golden Era of HipHop, when passion drove the music, not the signing bounses......peace yall

  • @Chocolati83,the difference between rap music and the NFL is that those guys still show mad respect to their veterans and predecessors and mention them all the time. Rap music in the mainstream however, seldom ever mentions any of the forefathers and neither do they show them any respect. For example,BET refused to play the music video for De La Soul's "Shopping Bags" because they said it didn't appeal to their targeted audience and that they weren't relevant to BET's viewers. That's messed up.

  • I love this song a lot, the beat just chills me the fuck out.

  • Original beat is Hypnotic by the Roots

  • @PJTheNativeSon Actually this is the original beat for that song.

  • 0 dislikes... the way it should be!

  • i love it when music is a time capsule, like when you listen to a song you were addicted to back in the day, and all you feel is nostalgia

  • Easily one of the best rap groups of all time.

  • @magillazmygorilla,,,this was smooth, and different; these guys were unique...thank you for this soulful post....bless you!!

  • Where is this today? Cause all i'm hearing is fake ass fools tbh.

  • Are they still all alive?

  • @beantownn54 yes

  • who produced this???

  • Dilla.

  • lafango.com search 9milz (real rap i promise)

  • One thing that breaks my heart more than the rubbish rap today is that ol skool rappers did not make near as much money as these lazy rappers today and yet they gave us their very best. Those days people didn't listen to rap as much, and tv stations didn't show love to this good music. Today rappers become millionaires when they don't always deserve it. It's not fair at all. De La Soul, the Pharcyde etc, those guys deserved to be living large today. Keep buying real music folks.

  • @tloutle50 amen

  • @tloutle50, so true. And what's even more insulting, people nowadays call someone like Lil' B (who is a terrible rapper) the best ever. And then you wonder why people have such a negative stereotype about rap music! They put those rappers with not nearly as much talent as someone like The Pharcyde on front street earning millions, while these guys are steadily pushed aside and collect dust on the back shelves of rap music history. But then if we say something about it, we're "haters".

  • 0 dislikes !!! isn't it perfect ??? ;) !!!

  • Great piece..

  • this group should have done a collaboration with the Deftones! Old school Deftones + Old school Pharcyde = pure MAGIC!!!! Too bad I cannot turn back the hands of time. : '(

  • @KathyRockzUrSockz u just speak from my Mind...

This shit brings back so good memories...and more important, a feel of what HipHop was all about. Since Years i am no longer up to date to what comes out. Cause it mostly all sucks. • Man I remember when I first truly listened to this song. It was a warm summers day when I was 14, I was walking up the road on my way back from school, it was hot and I was cooking in my uniform, but when I heard this I was just blown away. There was some absolute classics in this era of hip hop - the quality of the tunes has not been since surpassed. Those days are gone... but the memories are still strong.

  • That's peace. Thank you for sharing that.

  • @magillazmygorilla what cd is this on? i need this one on my ipod

  • @silumtao School? I thought you said it was summer!?

  • @silumtao I remember at the age of 15 going on 16 in 96, the sky provided a grey malinchony atmosphere with a hint of a rainy grey through out the day, as I'm on my way home from an 8 hour shift at Wendy's. Austin Tx was the city, 11pm was the clock,"The House Of Fat Beats" was the sesssion per 91.7KVRX(co-op station: UT Campus) with hosts: Kerrie & Lez......Yeah............they provided.. THANK GOD.

  • i love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You can't find classics like this anymore! good upload! Also the roots flipped this joint to make "The hypnotic", an equally intoxicating joint!

  • where the fuck are they?

  • They were on tour with the whole Rock The Bells thing. They're back together and working on a new album.

  • I my eyes (or ears) this song is their best one.

  • Say, magillazmygorilla, if you could find the Angel version to "Otha' Fish", I shol' am will prociate(appreceiat) ya.. And as far as below; CRC281, stop eatin' kats up like dat, LOL!!

  • I got you fam. It's up right now.

  • no worries, i will someday, as will you... hahahaha

  • I was trying help, I was the only one to respond to your question, I mispelled the album's name( which really not a mistake worth 'owning up to') and then you responded in what seemed to be an unecessary manner, so i did the same. Also if you found out what the album was called eventually, why didn't you just do that in the first place?

Don't over feel yourself, don't let your mum down, improve your life.

  • classic song, this came out and questlove was obsessed with it and had the beat on loop and decided to do his own take on it with the roots which became 'the hypnotic'. he talks about this somewhere, i think on one of his myspace blogs.

  • labcalifornia

  • thanks for the correction, pat on the back, standing ovation for you

  • It's only officially on the B side of the Runnin' limited edition Blue 45 vinyl.

  • this man speaks truth. but i got it ona maxi signle for runnin. also made an appearence on a remix maxisingle as well

  • whats the sample on this?

  • Sounds like the roots "hypnotic". Im not sure if the roots sampled this or the pharcyde sampled the roots.

  • nice tune!the video of 'drop' fits perfectly to the beginning of the song...thx for the up!

  • This was da JOINT!!!! Str8 chillin wit my girl wit this 1!

  • The beat kinda sounds like The Roots song 'The Hypnotic'... still tight though

  • yeah thats why I posted it as a respone to "The Hypnotic"...and supposedly these joints both came out around '94-'95...so the question is...who sampled who? lol

  • Emrald butterfly came out first.

  • the roots aint sample no one for "Hypnotic," and the Roots' song came out in 96

  • ight then cool breeze. Don't matter to me either way cuz both them joints hot lol

  • Hypnotic was actually sampled from this track. A very rare find, and I shol-am prociate it Magilla.

  • aint nothin to it...
