  • isnt it the opposite of lazy to jump a wall, rather than walk around the wall itself?!?!

  • I would like to caution everyone from performing lazy vaults over moderately high chain link fences, or any barrier that has sharp stuff on the top. The lazy vault is a pretty low jump, and if you can't clear the entire barrier, you may have to slide your butt on the top to get over, especially at low speeds.

And excellent tutorial, I just came back to clear up my technique after I cut my ass over a chain link fence.

  • @slimlim123 you should learn the other vaults. It comes in handy later on.

  • Is it possible or recommended to do lazy vault while approaching the obstacle head on instead of from an angle. I can do lazy vaults quite well I would say, but unfortunately it's the only vault I'm comfortable with, or basically I can't do other vaults. So should I learn other vaults or just try doing lazy vault head on?

  • Damn my bad i think i just flagged this on accident isnt parkour just basic running and jumping over and tgrough while free run is freestyle with flips and stuff if ur guna reply dont be an asshole and be like u noob gtfo if u no nothing sheesh im learning this sport/hobbie.

  • @TeamVenomShow Yeah pretty much, but your saying it with disrespect :-/ . I would say it as: Parkour is overcoming obstacles to get from point A to point B quick and efficiently. Freerunning is to run with creativity, fluidity, style etc.

  • @ekojk1242 my bad im barely getting into it ive git kong vault done

  • thanks man u really helped me to do parkour the way i wanted to!!

  • Ty UrbanCurrent, without Thief Vault and Lazy Vault, Then Police a long time ago would get me in jail.

  • A thief valt u swing up the back leg

  • check oun my facebook page. free running and parkour

  • im lazy and i still cant do this vault

  • in lazy vault just be lazy !

  • Parkour really reminds me of my fun days as a kid, running around in playgrounds, just chillin havin a good time.... ah the good old days :)

  • i wondered if i should learn to support on my left hand as well or is that not neccesary

  • Awesome tutorial! I actually learned alot

  • because im really not all for the flips and stuff but i love the goin over around and through obstacles wouldi be called a parkourist free runner or niether

  • @Jimmymillmo lol you would be called a traceur since in PK you don't need to do flips or whatever

  • lol

  • are you wearing wrist supports?

  • @lussierstephen I think he is wearing wrist supports.

  • Just got this down today. I was surprised at how simple it was once I got comfortable with committing myself to it. Also, I'm more comfortable when I'm not using my dominant hand (right). Anyone know why?

  • I love lazy vaults because they are relaxing, can come out of walking pace without slowing down or speeding up, and can be done in a backpack. They get me where I need to go on a daily basis.

  • What's the difference between the speed and lazy vault???

  • @Limabeast lazyvault you're sideways, lifting your legs over the obstacle. the weight goes on your arm.

speed vault you're using momentum to carry you. your body goes horizontal but is still facing forward. little to no weight goes on the tap.

  • I was doing one of these today and fucked up dropped 6 feet onto my lower right back. Major contusion, wont be able to train for a few days

  • the kong vault and the lazy vault are the two best vaults but if your a gangster you thief vault cause it s cooler lol

  • lol its hard??? :-DDDDDDDDDDD so easy

  • so the lazy vault is like the side ways version of the thief vault?

  • anyone can do lazy vault

  • You guys have great Parkour skills and great taste in music! What's this track called?

  • omg, if u look for speed vault, its in the exact place with a different person :O

  • nice tutorial

  • its harder than it looks but easy once you have the confidence.

  • Got it, thanks for the great tutorial

  • 4:11 is the most impressive part of the video. Do you have a tutorial on how to do that?

I can do it, but I still have a lot of trouble with it. I know it's all in my head but I'm sure I'm going to clip every single time.

  • you dont need a tutorial for this...

  • ok back to training!

  • wat hapens if u dnt use her left hand for support

  • great tutorial! i think it would be nice if you bought a camera that can film in slowmotion cause it's kinda hurtfull to watch a slowmo clip when it's not filmed in slowmo. I own a casio fc-100 and I use it often to tape myself and analyse my techniques =) i think it should be great for this kind of tutorials

  • i think lazy vault is the easiest vault in parkour

  • Nice car! :D

  • this was the first one i perfected when i was in 3rd grade. i didnt even

  • @117Glitchmaster Wow, you are truly a master of parkour.

  • @Koseiku THX

  • awesome!!!!!!!

    tx! really helpful!

  • thx thx thx ... very good tutorial :)

    U GREAT

  • soz dude jsy saying it still a good tutorial

how long have u being doing parkour

  • man thats right ur mixing the lazy vault with the thief vault

in the thief vault u will land on both ur legs and ur back to the wall and keep running

    but the lazy vault

u will land leg by leg

    and ur beside the wall

  • nice tuts

  • Dude you are describing it the same way is being shown on this video.

For drops I land with both legs to minimize impact, or as in this vid to show the transition everything else that you said is shown on this video.

If you look at 2:40 it is one at the time as I explain.

By the way, doesnt matter which leg you land with on the other side. One at the time doesnt mean, left then right or right then left.

  • 4:00 , I gotta try that.

  • nice tutorial

  • you guys do the best tutorials ever. i mastered th kong vault. now i just gotta get the diving kond down so i can clear picnic tables th long way

  • how did you get back up from that cat hold?

  • variations are hard to learn

  • please get back to me...

is vaulting over a rail ALOT harder than a wall or just a bit? im used to vaulting over mid/high thigh high objects but should i find 1 waist high and practice before moving to a rail? oh btw i never used a rail before

  • Comment removed

  • I can do the lazy vault for the most part... but I never use the second hand for support. Is this a bad thing?

  • lol i can do all vaults

y does no one wants to do free running

  • I'm confused, if tis is a Lazy, then what is a side vault into dash? see the first vault in my parkour video to see what I am talking about

  • i looked at ur first vault , and its a turn vault underbar, its not a dash at all. a dash is when u jump over something and put ur arms down

  • lol sorry I meant to say my second vault.

  • oh lol, that vault is a two handed vault (otherwise known as a normal vault). hope it helped :)

  • but I thought in a two handed vault it is basically just a side vault with two hands

  • lol no, look on tutorials they'll help u:D

  • watch?v=flrsO_7xL4M that looks nothing like what I did

  • yer

  • That is like saying that a Kash is the same as a kong

  • dude ur 2nd vault looks exactly the same as a two handed vault except u put ur hand back and theres no name for it u simply just put ur hand bak

  • okay and a Kash looks just like a monkey but you put your hands back on

  • yer kinda well its hard to explain watch a kash tutorial u dont really kash poles mainly like thicker things but gtg soz

  • WRONG!!!

  • no its not not many ppl kash poles, they usually kash thicker things and im not wrong cause on one of david belle explaining basic vaults he says that

  • ok ur first vault is a 2 handed vault underbar, then it does it again in slow motion and ur 2nd vault is a two handed vault but then u put ur hand back,if u did it in a monkey it would of been a kash

  • Is there any vault or technic for getting rails with zacks? where I live are very many of those, I tried it with different jumps and got hurt, I have no proper Idea...please help

  • what do you mean zacks? o_O

  • not sure if this was in the video but i was playing around with the vault and i found it's smoother if you take your first hand off as soon your other hand comes down

  • Do you need to have your second hand touch the obstacle? When I was practicing lazy vaults, I found it easier to vault over using only one hand.

    Thanks for any input

  • With the second hand is much easier to redirect yourself to continue on the direction you desire.

If you use one hand you will noticed your body is not quite stable as you land.

  • That's true. Thanks for the advice. I just watched the video on Speed Vaulting and it seems I have been doing that when I thought i was doing a Lazy Vault, since in speed vaults, it seems you only use one hand to plant onto the obstacle. Again, thanks for the advice and awesome video. I'll practice both.

  • @UrbanCurrent Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe one handed is the thief vault.

  • @FEWF thats caled a speed vault

  • what is the difference between lazy and thief vault?

  • In a lazy vault, you lead with the foot closest to the obstacle. In the thief vault, you lead with the other foot.

  • tnx for the info!

  • I'm not disagreeing, but, how is that possible?

  • I can't do this from over 5 feet because everytime I land my body freezes and doesn't let me roll or sometimes I land but sudden landing causes pain to go up my legs. Advice?

  • I'll be honest, I'm new. Though I'll guess the pain is because of the poor landing. Land with the ball of your foot, and if that doesn't work, try to be more gentle I guess.

  • I'm 13, and i love parkour, so these tutorials help me ALOT. great video(s) help alot

  • MY BODY ISN'T TELLING ME ANYTHING!!!! AH!!!!

    nice tut though!

  • how lng been trainin for

  • i cant seem to get over objects higher than my waist any advice?

  • you've to train the first step of this video, but not just to give all your weight on your arm, you should train to do this very fast

  • you have to run at it fast at an angle and when you grip your hand your body will fly over it because of your motion

  • thanks almost there but just hitting sometimes bt learning from my mistakes

  • well vaulting is something that gets better from experience, so keep training :)

oh i have a few lazy vault in my video those may help you some ;)

  • bst techers evr

  • without the lazy, I would be fucked.

  • @ParkourDenver Your comment comes to mind whenever I do Parkour. Thank you for posting your legendary quote that I will always remember. Stay safe, dude. ;)

  • @Yoshark777 dude, its like, THE vault next to the kong.

  • thanks

  • another awesome tutorial from urban current

  • I've done lazy by my own without watching tutor. and the first after I've done kong.

  • urban current you are the fucking best parkour teacher!!!

    Thankyou so much!

  • what's the differece between a lazy vault and a speed vault? just the kicking leg?

  • The lazy vault is usually done at an angle, while the speed vault is usually done with a straight approach.

With the lazy vault you use your other leg to kick as you already noticed and with the lazy vault you also put your other hand down for support after your legs cleared the obstacle.

  • i see! thank you very much =)

  • Nice tutorial! it really helps

  • This how i do it, but i see other videos showing people jumping and THEN putting their hands on the wall. Like in a speed vault.

  • lol Everyone should have these on there portable media players.

  • I'm downloading the video for my Ipod Atm :D

  • Thanks alot this is really good, really clear instructions

btw any one who can be bothered check my first parkour vid am a beginer and want advice just search parkourniall, any videos you want subscribed post to me

  • i have long legs- whenever i try to do a lazy vault over something like waist high (a fence) i always end up hitting my butt on the top of the fence before getting over.. how do i prevent this?

  • push of harded.. maybe it would work for a taller person

  • Extend your arm all the way, don't let your arm collapse.

  • That was so funny

  • How do you over come the fear. I can do a lazy. And i have been practicing parkour for i don't know a few months now. But the fear of hitting the ground wrong and trying to role is holding me back from really moving on to anything "great". If you could give me some tips on how get over that fear that would be awesome . Thanks!

  • little hint, it might be easier to directly message them. like the send message thing. i dont know, it always gets me more results.

  • I dont do parkour yet however i have jumped from some high places and I must say yes it is very scary but start smaller and work your way up. I jumper out tennis fence which was about 10-15 feet or so and when i landed fine it felt great, getting that adrenline rush.

  • Very informative tutorial, and very fluid and skilled movement from the instructor.

  • the name of the vault is false advertising...

...the name is the lazy vault, but you use alot of movement, which always confused me.

I'm really glad you guys explain everything, it helped alot.

  • huh?

  • he is pretty much saying that the 'Lazy Vault' is not lazy, at all.

  • Oh duh, lol.

  • Yeah, good videos by the way, they are easy to follow

  • i agree with cynicalfirebird... this tutorial are just perfect.

  • urbancurrent, your tutorials are the best i've seen on youtube for pk moves. exactly enough info and everything is so perfectly clear. thank you!!!

  • I don't know if this will help anyone, but if you know what a scissor kick is, I use that technique to preform lazy vaults.

    Just a tip.

  • thanks!!!!!!!!

  • when i land from the lazy vault one foot at a time i seem to pause for a split second and it stops my fluidity in the move anything i could be doing wrong?

  • Lean your chest forward.

  • thanx i had this problem too ~^___^~

  • Lazy Vaults Are Very Easy If You Start Off From Small Obsticles. (:

  • it's actually really easy. at first i tried it on a small tree that fell down then i did it on a sort of bench thing that was waste height. took a run up then did it but i put my foot down until i could do it without touching it with my feet

  • i almost broke my ankle while doing this because i didn't jump high enough and my ankle twisted in the railing and i dropped about 6 feet onto the grass i tried it on my porch i almost had to go to the hospital

  • You shouldn't be doing drops unless you're 100% confident with the vault you're doing :)

  • lol i really did break my leg and my arm doing pk i jumped off of a building landed in the street and got hit by a car... now i have cool scars!

  • thats just like me TRYING to kong a wall with 7ft drop on the other side i wouldnt try unless 100% sure.....no scratch that i shouldnt be doing 7ft drops anyway

  • thats just one bad day right there

  • what a way to give confidence to someone who hasn't done it yet lol

  • This helps as well. Thanks! Vaults was the first thing I stared with! Now I'm climbing. I have a few videos yall can check out and tell me what do yall think about them. Just to tell ya.. I'm climbing better then I am in those vids!

  • how do u support yourself on one arm while leaning? i just slip off. I can do a lazy vault but I cant do that. strange.

  • Alip up? How?

  • Have to use strength, and maybe a lil balance!

  • 4:54 You have to show off. xD

Pretty sweet hot to video. I'm not asking for any advice or something, I was amazingly improves before I seen any of this video, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right. Seem like I am. Thanks for thr video!

  • Besides that 8D I wanted to show all the techniques in the vid put in one flow.

  • Ive just begun my Parkour/Free running training last week and these videos are extremely helpfull. Thank you.

  • ..adn perform a PK-Landing or roll if needed. My question is "when" I need a roll and when not? Ok I know that it is better to roll if you jump from a obstacle higher than 1,70m. But where is the range? Is there a rule for this to save the body?

btw thx for your videos. I learned the basic very well and I hope i can response to your vids with my own pk-session in a couple of month :-)

    stay health and safty,

    Oliver from Germany

  • It is just to keep your knees strong and safe, the rule of thumb is, if the drop is as tall as you are.. roll.

  • The only problem is I screw up every time I don't use the arm (My non-dominant hand arm) that I'm comfotable vaulting wit :( Suggestions? :P

  • You mean, you can do it one side but not the other, if so, it just takes time and repetition.

  • I love the lazy vault! It's my fav!

  • you guys make the *BEST* tutorials ever!!!

    Keep up the good work

  • couldnt agree more

  • Without a doubt.

Sure there are heaps of "how to" vids out there, but these have step-by-step confidence builders as well.

  • Hi, i'd love to be able to do this, but i have absolutely no strength in my arms (i'm a girl lol so don't work out the arms much!) Will i still be able to do this? I mean, i can't hold my own weight or anything like that, and to be honest i'm no good at anything like this.

    any advice?

  • Parkour form what I've found is ALOT of upper body strength and technique. I have been training up for about a month now just to do some of the basics.

So really, you should be in great shape for ANY parkour or you can badly hurt.

  • parkour does invole a certain amount of strength but mostly its about transfering momentum and balancing out your weight it shouldnt be to hard for you to get to a point where you will be comfortable and able to do most if not all these moves. keep trying practice hard and come to one of our jams so you can be around people who can help you improve and become better in this art. if that is what you after.

  • lol dude, i loves these vids, 2morow imma work on it...cause its 11 at night right now

  • great

  • and how do I do a lazy vault then immediately sit on the rail? I have too much energy and keep hurting my butt...

  • Keep practicing, keep trying, experiment.

  • hi, I'm startin to learn and I think I have mastered the basic lazy vault but how do you do those vaults on a rail sets by walking on the curb, pros lazy just by turning their body parallel to the rail and their feet not on the ground(at the base of the rail). can't seem to have that energy...someone teach me.

  • and how do I lazy then sit on the rail??? I keep sliding off and hurting my butt...

  • i'm having a problem with my twohanded vaults when im hanging off a railing and my feet are on ground right underneath the railing... that's not a good explanation...what is done at 4:11. i can do a two handed vault normally but not one like that. can anyone help me with this problem?

  • Might be a bit tricky to explain only with text, but basically you pull the rail towards you with some power (you can see what I mean on my turn vault tutorial) so that it starts propelling you forward, then as the lazy, you balance your weight on your arm to swing you thru. We are going to make a two handed vault soon.

  • ok, i understand that part. do i jump upwards or up and back before using my arms?

  • You jump up and slightly forward, just lightly, because the arms are the ones that will do most the work to pull you forward.

  • i bboy(breakdance)so balance really isnt an issue for me (think turtle freeze)

  • very good tutorial m8 5 stars from me...

  • very good tutorial m8 5 stars from me...

  • Man this is an awesome tutorial!!!

  • thanx for responding back

  • your tutorials are better than the rest because they do the whole step by step progression.

what are your tips for the first part? i don't have enough muscle strength to hold my body up on one arm and balancing it. I can only do it on ledges that are about 4 and a half feet but I can't reach 5 feet. I'm lifting weights as well but are there any recommendations?

  • You really dont have to hold your weight in plce, that is just to show how the move works, but you can try to do that as a way of conditioning also.

  • great tutorial like your other ones

I can do lazy vault now thanks

  • Is this in the UK?
