  • This is still after a few years the best video on how to cook sushi rice. If you follow what he says, your rice will come out perfect every time!!! Thank you!!!

  • Loved this video.

  • tosh you have saved my ass! thanks! now where is your teryaki chicken recipe?

  • wash rice with soup! jajajajajaj....!

  • who washes rice with SOAP!???????

  • @uggybigboots idiots do,like that guy

  • I prefer to use the rice cooker.

  • So what type of rice? I have some "Sweet rice" that I bought from the Hong Kong market. It's called "Sticky Rice" will this work?

  • OMG, Tosh, you are GORGEOUS!!! Your beautiful chest is the best dish here...

  • FUCK i opened it at the end.

  • i would do something as silly as washing rice with soap because im funny like that ;3

  • Great!! Thanks so much!!!

  • Great Video, it worked just as he said.

  • best explanation ever... it helped me a lot coz you have a kitchen and a pot just like mine !!! thks a lot...

  • OH COME ON!!! He made a clear explenation:3 tnx hunn

  • what a load of tosh

  • serious man boobs

  • i had to chuckle when you said your boyfriend washed rice with soap i hope you didn't eat it :)

I eat white rice nearly everyday :)

  • I love YouTube! So many great videos that anyone can make!

  • Tosh.0 lololol

  • I just cooked my rice in the way Tosh demonstrated and it is indeed the very best sushi rice i've ever made. Much better than rice cooker rice!

  • This worked perfect for me! The best Ive made ::D

  • to wash your rice, don't use soap...hahahhaha

  • I have a question and anyone can answer it. Can you cook all kinds of rice this way? Not just white?

  • how do you stop the rice from sticking to the bottom?

  • @xrainbowmintx a nonstick pot helps.. but if cooked right it shouldnt stick to the bottom

  • Lol. This guy has got to be gay

  • Tosh.まあ

  • runnyrunny999 is better

  • I heard "my boyfriend" OAO at 1:43

  • @veryevil95 He also said "she". :P

  • ¡He seguido al pie de la letra sus instrucciones y me ha salido un arroz perfecto! mmmmm!!!!

  • Yup, i used Thai style rice. Medium. Its not very expensive at all. It comes out exactly like japanese rice. Its so FREAKIN DELICIOUS!

  • Is there any special rice to use? Jasmine?

  • @BryentLeighton You have to use any type of Japanese rice. If it even says "sticky rice" or "sushi rice" on the bag, that works, but you can't use jasmine rice. The idea is that it has to be able to stick.

  • Cheers for this. Just followed your instructions to make the rice for a Gyudon and it came out perfect. Win ^_^

  • thumbs up if your a waisian :)

  • So can i make Onigiri with this rice?

  • why do you have to wash it

  • thumbs up if you are 'western' and can live without bread.

  • @buraburayoshi rice is to asia as big mac is to america

  • @leonidas1491 hilarious analogy, but i can definitely live with out a big mac also. I can't digest meat well.

  • @buraburayoshi well, then replace big mac with corn, cuz thats used in a lot of food XD

  • This is where Tosh .0 got the idea for deep v neck t shirts haha.

  • Thanks Tosh, finally my rise is eatable

  • I grew up in the U.S. only knowing about crappy "minute rice", but then i discovered "real rice" while living in Japan for 2 years. This guy is exactly correct, especially about water to rice ratio and boiling/cooking time and keeping pot covered. If you do as he says, you should be very successful at producing perfect rice each time. It is even easier if you can afford a simple rice cooker, but this is the best alternative, imo.... peace :)

  • For my first time ever cooking rice, let alone Japanese method, it turned out really well. Thanks!

  • Wow thanks for the tutorial. I know how to cook rice except I didnt know you leave the cover on for another ten minutes. i usually take it off and look at my rice. Thanks again!

  • Thank you very much!

  • I use my microwave.....>-> Ah~....Minute Rice....

and you can buy instant jasmine rice for things like onigiri.

  • Yay gonna make Onigiri :D

  • Thank you so much !!

Loved the soap part by the way !!

    Thanks a lot -3

  • so you dont add anything at all without not even salt? and also, is this zn appropriate side dish to tiryaki chicken?

  • @LobsterPunk probably basmati rice

  • who is this idiot who washes rice with soap!!!!

i love the video, thank you :)

  • Why are the hot ones gay?! I love your videos and thanks for showing us how to make rice the correct way!

  • @WaterBearer2008 Out of curiosity, what makes you think he's gay?

I suppose he's Japanese, and the Japanese have in my opinion a different way of expressing themselves, than would a westerner. I'm sure people have seen Japanese boy bands, without a question they look gay to the western eye(I'm sorry if I offend someone with this), but that doesn't make them to be factually gay at all.

Just my opinion, no offence intended. :)

  • @BonsaiEternity He stated in the beginning that his boyfriend tried to rinse the rice with soap. My statement wasn't an assumption. :) I didn't take offense to what you said. It's all good! :) I'm already well versed in Japanese culture and I'm aware of their "cute" demeanor. This is what I like about them.

  • @WaterBearer2008 I re-watched the video and you're absolutely right. :)

He's nevertheless awesome! :) I bought sushi rice today, cooked it the way he tells it, and it worked absolutely great. I made Onirigi balls with sea-weat, just to prepare something to have a taste for tomorrow, as a snack, with Soba noodles.

  • @BonsaiEternity That sounds good! I wish that we had an Asian Food Mart in my town. I hate living in a small area!! :(

  • @BonsaiEternity he just said hes boyfriend tried to wash rice with soap

  • @WaterBearer2008 cuz they don't want to have a hastle with girls!!

  • @MsDumnut lol Good point.

  • Very informative :)

  • Great video! I hope that you are doing well!

  • Hehe I love his accent lol epsode that was funny and that rice looked really great I even took notes

  • He's soo cute! What a sweetheart ^_^

  • extreme lovely video and usefull, thank you :)

  • @Cz1385 I agree.

  • hahaha.. he's so gay! But i like it! thanks for making this video, I truely appreciate it. ^_^

  • 12 retarded

  • I thought you were supposed to use 2 times the water of the rice???!!

OMG, every technique to cook this stuff says something different! Ridiculous.

Which is it??? I noticed you used less time than all the other vids too, is that because you used less water ??? CONFUSED!

  • Thank you for uploading this! Me and a lot of people I've known have had trouble making good Japanese rice for sushi. Your instructions are so clear, and I can do it anywhere without buying a rice cooker! I'm going to practice this over and over until I have perfected it.

  • You rule. Thanks Tosh best rice I have ever made tastes great!

  • Save the soap for your man tits.

  • @momojasminelove Take an anatomy physiology class. America goes down to nothingness with uneducated. All animals have "breasts". mammory glands. Please refer to possible local pets of both genders to see these facts. Female breasts are more developed for use in child bearing.

  • Sumimasen~! do you let rice soak after washing and draining for about thirty minutes? I am curious how necessary that step is.

  • you are funny Tosh ! :) and that's good !

  • Domo!

  • Thank you Tosh! as a gain-jin living in NY it's nice to know i can cook good rice without a rice cooker

  • that looks better than any rice i've ever made. i used to end up with a glob of starch and protein, lol.

  • @TNukui very well explained, thank you

  • Employee: sir can I get a raise?

Boss: I can give you riceee!!! LoL

  • i love is accents....lol

  • @Phillyguy30 - WOW!

  • Thank you for this video! I *always* screw up the rice when trying to make Sushi, and haven't spent the money yet for a rice cooker. I've looked EVERYWHERE to find out HOW to do something as simple as making rice, but no recipe on the bags explain it, and everything online either skips the actual cooking part, or says to use a rice cooker. Thank you so much for this! Tomorrow we'll be having sushi for dinner!

  • Does anyone else notice that he is wearing a deep v just like Daniel Tosh?

    Just saying lol.

    Thanks for the info!

  • tanks men cool O(o_o)O

  • Thankyou so much Tosh!! Great video, but I must say VERY camp!!!

  • @nickpowell1980

what subtle signals made you sense the camp, the part where he referred to his boyfriend? Thanks Tosh, brilliant stuff.

  • DUDE IT WAS AWSOME!!!

  • thank you so much tosh!

  • why does he keep staring at the camera

  • Tosh!!! can i use any kind of rice? or does it have to be special?

  • can i use any type of rice? i feel like trying it right now :)

  • hi nukui, if I put 2 cups water into 2 cups rice, after 5 minutes there is no water and on the bottom it was burn.

Does it depand to the rice? we have here in germany no japanese rice

  • @KIZILIRMAK put a pan under the pot to prevent the rice from buring

  • @KIZILIRMAK Did you remember to turn the heat down after two minutes? If you did, instead try turning down the heat right when it starts to boil.

  • Ten People Are Homophobic Racists

  • Toshiiiiiiiiiii!!! arigatou~

  • Ur the fucken man TOSH !!!!!!!!!!!!
