  • I personally would have liked Liam Neeson to have been added to this scene and others across the saga.

It feels wrong somehow that he doesn't have much presence in the following films. It would have been interesting if there were moments when Darth Vader could almost sense someone watching over him during his moments of inner conflict...

  • I agree with with you. I can't understand why George Lucas use Christensen in return of the jedi. All fans whos see old trilogy firs,t should be dissappointed.

  • @bolec133 Probably because most kids today are familiar with Hayden as Anakin and not some random old guy.

  • The emperor disliked this video and made a new account and disliked it again,

  • I wish George would release this scene some day :(, this music is much better than the old one, i agree with most of you, it doesn't make any sense having Hayden jedi ghost at the end of Episode VI, nothing can replace Sebastian Shaw!!

  • We clearly saw that Vader was redeemed and became Anakin once more, moments before his death. Therefore, Shaw should be Anakin in this scene and not Christensen. I don't know if they should consider it out of continuity, but as a young Jedi, Anakin wore a dark brown tunic, not the tan one he wears here (though we see him wear that at the end of I). Have you seen the 3D version of I, because I noticed it has some footage included from the DVD's deleted scenes.

  • Ones I do remember include the look of Jabba in IV, Vader and Palpatine's dialogue in V, and, of course, Christensen replacing Shaw in the end of VI (and the end music to this movie which I like a lot more). I also like the change in V because it sets up proper continuity to VI and the prequel trilogy. But I do not like the change of Christensen being Anakin's ghost in the last movie, because Anakin did not literally die at that age.

  • Hey TheUnluckyTug02, I am a huge Star Wars fan, and I also don't mind many of the changes made to the original trilogy over the years. However, I saw the original theatrical versions many years ago, so I don't entirely remember what they were like, but more with guesses of the special edition VHS tapes and then DVDs. I owned those tapes before the DVDs, but even now I don't remember many changes made from those.

  • Its like replaceing Alec Guinness with Ewan McGregor. But anyway, it isnt logic, how the hell can Luke vision Anakin as a young man if Luke didn't see his face until he was dying, as an old man?

    Fuck logic, and fuck Lucas!

  • i love the remastered versions music much better, but what i especially love about sebastian shaws version is the nod he shares with obi wan before he turns to look at luke because it really shows the peace he made with him after their fight in episode III

  • i like this music better than the original :) its much more satisfying than Yub Nub :p

  • lol its like palpatine comes too

  • I'm sorry but Sebastian Shaw is a beast. To me, he's the PERFECT Anakin Skywalker. His one minute of acting and this part here are more meaningfull to me than the hours of that little kid and Hayden Christensen. In my mind he'll always be my image of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

  • i love star wars its my favourite movie i think its one of the best movies ever in my opinion i love te ending its so sad and cool if you get what i mean

  • Okay, who the hell disliked this?!?!

  • Thumbs up if you want Sebasian Shaw's version of Anakin to appear in the future 3D release of 'Return of the Jedi'!

  • @whitestarline82 But I think they should keep this music.

  • @whitestarline82 They should change it so that Sebastian Shaw appears as, but as unmasked Darth Vader. That would make more sense.

  • Thank you!!

  • such a bueatiful ending...hopefully if the new world or gets destroyed..we will celebrate like this..

  • the ending when they use hayden as the ghost of anakin does kinda relate to the story because i think either yoda or obi wan said that anakin metaphorically died when he became darth vader therefore using hayden as the ghost of anakin could be referancing to luke being able to turn his father to the light side the young anakin pre darth vader was on the light side so using hayden indicates he managed to save his father from the darth vader persona and bring back anakin skywalker soz long comment

  • can any one see them

  • como la vida no termina como una gran pelicula con una gran cancion

  • BUT U KNOW IF THEY HAD QUI GON THAT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER

  • @MrAfghanforever I really think having anyone other than Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Yoda would be completely pointless...

  • @TheUnluckyTug02 Pointless and wouldn't make sense...And Luke would be utterly confused

  • @MrAfghanforever As much as I love qui-gon, it wouldn't have been right because Qui-Gon and Yoda disagreed on almost everything

  • @MrAfghanforever Ah, yes, Qui-Gon, one of the worst characters ever. The guy had no personality and no common sense.

  • @Crymson1 Mane, get off Qui Gon's nuts bruh!

  • YESSSSSSSSSS FINALY THANKU FOR HAVING THE ORIGINAL CLASSIC ANIKAN SKYWALKER THIS IS THE TRUE FIRST ORIGINAL HD

  • I was actually cranky they changed the music. The older version works better for this scene. This music would have been better suited elsewhere, in say an extended scene of victory elsewhere.

  • this is the way it should be

  • Best ending by far.

  • That is the version i like!

  • @samotron1984 Same i prefer Sebastian Shaw and this perfect music!

  • Imagine if kid Anakin from ep 1 showed up instead.

  • @highonstress That would be awesome if Jake Lloyd (kid Anakin) showed up as a force ghost and looked around and said, "This is intense!"

  • Robot Chicken version of this is really funny!!

  • Comment removed

  • Very much preferred the Sebastian Shaw version.

Yes, I agree it's a great disrespect to remove him from this scene.

  • And to think that Young Anakin(Hayden) is actually considered to be canon!! >:(

  • I don't know about you guys...but it would take me a little bit more than like a second to like be able to stand next to Anakin if I were Obi-Wan or Yoda. "Oh...hey...remember like destroying the entire jedi race?" I don't know...I'd be a little angry.

  • George Lucas & Crew: Fucking over our favorite old movies one "remastered" scene at a time.

  • What the hell is up with the music?

  • we know this 2004 ending sucks because of Hayden Christensen, but it is because when Lucas hired Christensen as an actor for Anakin for episode 2, Lucas realized that if they show Sebastian Shaw in ROTJ after Hayden is hired, he was worried if Anakin might show injuries as a ghost.

  • I love this version. I grow up with her :D

  • THANK YOU! <3

  • donde puedo encontrar esta cancion? cual es el nombre?

where I can find this song? what is the name?

  • oh by the way... they cut S. Shaw's head off and replaced it with Hayden.... talk about disrespect...

  • *Luke

  • Sebastian Shaw?

Did Like kill Vader by sliding a coin through his head in the original?

  • I love a lot of the Changes. New Imps in 5, some new effecs even the "no" at the Blu Rays (The German version...in English they did a bad edit) but I always dislike the new Anakin. Hayden may be a good Anakin (i like him) but the edit is bad and he usw is standard look. Sebastian Shaw looks kind and gracious. Father Like....

  • the original is the best!

  • Perfect. Just perfect.

  • I farted wen I heard the epic music

  • I have this movie on vhs and it has this exact ending......the new music AND Sebastian Shaw as Anakin.......the best ending imo

  • i kinda feel like hayden actually look like younger version of him in this scene

  • Replacing Sebastian with Hayden was an insult to Star Wars fans everywhere. Lucas simply assumed that young fans wouldn't have known who Sebastian was, even though, the young fans who loved Episodes 1, 2, and 3 would've watched Episodes 4, 5 and 6 and simply made the connection themselves. If Lucas really wanted to tie the 2 trilogies together, he should've added Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Nesson) in young ghost form, standing on the other side of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness).

  • .......ewoks....lol

  • Wenn ich dass höre bekomm ich einfach ein wundervolles gefühl.

If i hear these i (symply said) get a great feeling :)

  • Sebastian Shaw is in fact the true original Anakin Skywalker since the original Return of the Jedi. Since the original Return of the Jedi, they made action figure of Sebastian as Anakin. Since the 2004 restoration, George turned his back against Sebatian in a favor of replacing him with Hayden

  • @MartinNBambi

I have that 13 inch figure.

  • @tubee a 13 inch figure of Sebastian Shaw as Anakin Skywalker, that's awesome

  • The ending to the new version made no sense. Luke only knew Anakin when he was older. In that sense, why replace him with the younger version, one Luke never knew at all?

  • @cajayson8301

I think they were trying to show the last moment anakin was as a jedi, anything after he was a sith and it would have been just as awkward lol

  • @kacktustoo Okay fair enough ;)

  • I'm actually a bit okay about this what piss me off is they changed boba fetts voice

  • @theDoodler2 Well, Jango Fett's voice was more appropriate, though. He was his duplicate.

  • The Hayden Anakin ending had a symbolic meaning to it. To say that when he was born as Vader, that is when his life as Anakin died. I only came to see for comparison though. I had a feeling it was Hayden on my DVD. I just needed to make sure.

  • @aoinatafanboy84 That might be, but he came back to the 'light side' at the very end when He killed the emperor and saved his son, and there by becoming Anakin once more before dying. So having Sebastian Shaw makes perfect sense... to me and others at least :P

  • @aoinatafanboy84 This "symbolic meaning" you speak of is exactly the bullshit Lucas wants you to believe. It actually has no greater symbolic meaning, because simply showing Anakin as he was when he redeemed himself is just as symbolic. Lucas only changed this because he's an idiot and wanted to pervert the original trilogy some more.

  • @insaneapples Well the last time I checked, they are HIS films not ours. I've heard a lot of moaning from Darth Vader's body actor about how he didn't get to die in the final scene. It's really sad that he's the symbol of everything evil as well as the magnet for all the crybabies. I only mentioned Hayden for the sake of understanding Lucas and not my own ego.

  • when i see the remastered ROTJ on tv i get so angry and start a rant that lasts nearly the entire movie. i hate that sebastian shaw was removed and lucas stuck hayden christiansen in there. and i hate that the Ewok song was cut out.

i've wanted to add the (original) Star Wars trilogy to my DVD collection, but i'm afraid that all dvd copies are the re-edits and i can't stand to watch them! it's sad that when i have kids one day, they won't be able to see the magic of the original films. :(

  • @spongebobbette23 i feel the same way i want the original star wars on dvd 2 but most of them are re edits lucky for me i still have the original unaltered movies on vhs tapes from the early 90s

  • @spongebobbette23 I don't know if someone's already said this, but there actually is an original untouched version on DVD, but the catch is that it's very hard to come by now since the Blu-Ray editions came out last year. It was the 2006 Limited Edition release of the Original Trilogy. The second disc for each film is its original theatrical version. I recommend checking places like Half-Price Books. The new ones you may find are gonna cost a pretty penny with them being discontinued.

  • @spongebobbette23 @spongebobbette23 Ok well I tried posting links to photos of what they looked like but Youtube won't let me for some reason, so I'll try and describe them.

The trilogy set is blue, black and silver with Vader in the background and Luke and Vader fighting in the foreground. Remember it's DVD and the release year is 2008. The individual movies have a gold-ish border and say "Limited Edition" at the top. You can find some photos on Google.

    I hope this was helpful.

    Good luck.

  • @flashdrum thank you SO MUCH! i'll begin my search for them now! you've been a great help! <3

  • @spongebobbette23 Not a problem. Fans gotta help one another out.

  • Sebastian Shaw?! Oh, So HE's the leader of the notorious Hellfire Club!

  • this ending is not perfect, but for the ending song, I prefer this more than the yub nub song IMO, and for the love of god, please, I don't want haters attacking me because I said an opinion

  • @briancarrane Wow. No, the actor is Sebastian Shaw, and the footage of him comes from the special edition bonus disc, which contains the original theatrical movie.

  • @TheUnluckyTug02 You do know that Sebastian Shaw is still in the first special edition version of VI released in VHS and Laserdisc back in 1997 right?

  • @TheUnluckyTug02 what i couldn't understand was why did the music have to be changed?? and then when the next edition came out, they got rid of shaw??

  • Now this is how it should be !

  • This is the version I like. Hayden is the right choice for the young Anakin but he looks like a pervert in the DVD version of ROTJ (he isn't even looking at the right direction - at the camera) . Nothing replaces Sebastian Shaw 's warm / kind smile and I think it is disrespectful to the late Sebastian Shaw by removing him from the crucial final scene.

  • @tubee Amen to that.

  • @tubee Hayden never had a warm kind smile in the prequels, it was always a smug smirk

  • Really good editing there. Shaw fits in perfectly there. I heard that Lucas putting Hayden in that scene really caused a lot of anger.

  • @alexanderprice6 I don't blame hardcore fans for being angry, it was kind of a stupid thing for the sake of consistency for Lucas to have Hayden in the place of Sebastain.

I mean even though he was in the suit and scared all over, he still would have aged like Obi-Wan and any other race.

  • Hayden himself admitted he hated being at the end of ROTJ, sebastain shaw is a hell better!

  • Nice. Now maybe you might not like Hayden being in there, but me, I don't mind. It's Lucas' choice, I was young then, I still think it's okay. But I respect your judgement.

  • @Drew47AT I understand why Lucas did it, I just found it overall pointless. I do support him on a lot of the other CGI edits he made to the films however.

  • @TheUnluckyTug02 I hate most of the CGI edits. Some of them were OK, like for the lasers and ships and stuff, but the others distract from the story and such.

  • @Drew47AT George Lucas is getting old. At some point his choice will be to shit his diaper and wait anxiously for bingo night. I understand the idea. It sounds like a good idea in your head but really its dumb as hell.

  • @Drew47AT None of the other jedi died and turned into the 20 year old version of themselves. You know what the worst part of it is tho? Hayden being a semi idiot.... Hes still got the smirk on his face from episode 3 like hes turning to the dark side. I almost cryed the first time i saw the smiling ghosts of the Jedi and Shaw.

  • I defintely agree of not putting Hayden Christensen as the force ghost in Episode VI. It just makes no sense

  • I've always been curious to what Anakin looked like in the original version of this scene.
