I really love these videos so far...very helpful...just tell your cute little wife to look at the camera instead of herself...doesn't she get that she looks retarded doing that???
Hello Jimmy, Just started back on my Atkins Diet... I wanted to find out if you would you be willing take a look at my Fit Day Menu and take a look at my menu, I would appreciate it very much... vita-nutrients and ratios? Please let me know... some of my levels are through the roof without the Multi-vit, cal, mag, vit C Fish Oil... wanted to find out if I am at toxic levels in your opinon... Please let me know if I can send you a link to my FitDay account.. Thank you very much... Dan "SLIMQUEST"
Hey I have been having severe back cramps for the last 5 days since starting the diet 2 weeks ago but no leg cramps. Would it be potassium and or calcium?
I don't think back cramps has anything to do with your low-carb lifestyle, but certainly taking potassium will help with any cramping associated with your diet. Dr. Mary C. Vernon says to drink bouillon broth to restore your electrolyte balance in the early days of low-carb. Hope this helps!
Well...post-workout it's basically the time, it's then the body's reserves are depleted, catabolic hormones are to the max, it helps muscles recover, they don't get stored as fat if the quantity is reasonable, plus you won't need a "Charging day" if you take them like this. Or at least that's my knowledge...
GREAT info, as usual Moore family. One tip I've been given--probably best to take vitamins (and pharma drugs, if applicable) separately from fiber so they can be absorbed properly. (Esp fat soluable vitamins such as A, D, E, etc.)
I'm not privy to the studies you are referring to, but chromium has been found to be essential in maintaining blood sugar levels. I'd love to see the research you are referring to--e-mail me at livinlowcarbman at charter dot net.
it's not chromium that is the problem it's chromium in the form of chromium picolinate that tends to cause damage to DNA. You can find the research if you just search it online.
I can only afford a basic once-a-day multi, but it definitely increases my metabolism, which is a huge benefit. I also pop calcium tabs (low sugar variety) because the diet can get a bit acidy at times. I eat a good deal of calcium-rich dairy foods to help with this, and sprinkle some salt-substitute (mostly potassium) in plain yogurt to avoid cramps.
hey Jimmy, Being diabetic I take most of what you mentioned. I also take a water extracted Cinnamon. I also take magnesium, biotin and green tea extract. These generally help Glucose uptake and control for me.
THANKS for the note, Ed! I've been looking at cinnamon myself based on all the data I've seen about it and I've taken a multivitamin with extra biotin in the past. Magnesium is outstanding and I think I get enough in my multi. Green tea is good for you, but I can't stand the taste. :)
Hey there!! Again very informative! I think though that you could have included the daily recomended amout of these suppliments that gernerally people should be getting. It is important to realize that if you are not taking the daily limit that you are not benefitting from the suppliment! Also how do you feel about Flax seed for your Omega-3...then no worry about rancid fish!!! I have been wondering about this one!! Thanks!!
I didn't mention RDA Alis1200 because the need for these various vitamins varies from person to person. But you can get that information on each bottle you purchase. As for flax seed, this can cause problems for men in higher doses, so I stick with the fish oil. The liquid doesn't get rancid and is VERY healthy.
Please elaborate on the effects of Flax seed on men...hubby is now doing low carb too and I have been giving him Flax seed! I certainly would not want to harm him in any way!! Thanks again Jimmy!!
Sorry to confuse you about the flax seed. When you compare flax seed OIL to fish OIL, clearly fish oil is better. But if you consume flax seed, make sure it is the seed for the best benefits to your husband. You won't harm him, except if you give him too much it causes a laxative effect. THANKS!
You'll feel so much better when you do, Paul! The liquid ones do help your body absorb the vitamins so much faster and efficiently. Let me know how much better you feel in a few weeks. Because you will! :D
Hi, I have just stumbled onto your video's...I can not thank you enough!! I love your enthusiatic approach and know that the videos will motivate me and keep me on the right track (im on induction):) THANKYOU you have both done so well keep up the good work.
THANKS for finding us, 123imelda! We're here to help you along in your low-carb journey to better health and YOU CAN DO IT! Be sure to visit my blog and listen to my podcast show for even more education, encouragement and inspiration as you are livin' la vida low-carb!
Hmmm, Clyde, I haven't heard of chromium doing that to your body. But keep an eye on it. That could be a good thing if it is controlling your blood sugars. Enjoy reading Gary Taubes' GOOD CALORIES, BAD CALORIES because it is an amazing book you will learn a lot from. THANKS Clyde!
Great video! Women who don't menstruate (after a hysterectomy or after menopause) also should use a multivitamin that does not contain Iron. Also, people starting out on low carb may find that the Chromium really minimizes the "low carb flu" symptoms in the first 2 weeks. I would have given up that first week if I hadn't reread Dr. Atkins book and found that recommendation!
Thanks again for another GREAT video....I have always been a believer in taking vitamins and have for years. I find it interesting your info on the Omega-3 (fish oil). I have tried taking the liquid form without any success, therefore I take the capsule form without any problem. Keep 'em coming...!!!!
The liquid fish oil is probably the best-kept secret in supplements. Most people think it's gonna taste gross, so they don't even bother. But the GOOD ones are delicious and give you the best quality compared with the capsules. THANKS tiparker119!
It may seem like a lot, kaubamaja, but every single one of them serves a great purpose in keeping me healthy. Whether you eat low-fat, low-carb, or whatever, you really need to be taking good quality supplements.
Great info again! You guys inspired me and I've already lost 21 pounds during induction! Keep em coming and good luck with trying to get pregnant, I've got a 4 year old son and a 7 month old daughter. They are my reason for doing this. thanks again!!!!!!
THANK YOU Beijingtao! We're looking forward to having children and teaching them healthy low-carb nutrition. I'm proud of you for setting the example for your little ones.
Take 'em and run with 'em Shannon! You'll feel great with them on your low-carb lifestyle. That chromium supplement will help you with your sugar cravings right now, too.
Just for fun the other day, I ate my first banana in four years. The next morning when I weighed, I gained two pounds! EEEEK! Won't be doing that again. :) THANK YOU for watching!
Glad you enjoyed it delicatepetals! As for a good fiber-based cereal that is low-carb, there are a few available from CarbSmart dot com. One is called Hi-Lo. I don't like this one and prefer the hot cereals from Flax Z Snax better.
I used to eat a couple of banana's in the morning, along with my FiberOne and milk which gave a huge Sugar and Carb load of well over a 100 grams of carbs... then the chase was on all, day... if you can only imagine... Anyway I appreciate all the great work and advice... keep up the great work... Love watching and listening to your blogs... pod casts and loved your book... thanks again...
I can imagine indeed, Dan! The sugar rush from all those "healthy" carbs is enough to drive you crazy...LITERALLY! THANKS for being a fan of Livin' La Vida Low-Carb. :)

Why eat it at all? Don't need the sugary carbs.

actually you do need sugary carbs, people just dont know when to eat them.

When do you need sugary carbs and why? I'm very curious about this.
