the problem here is that the technology is part now of the sport, all of them can be good and they could break records too, look at michael phelps he used the suits and pwned them all, he doenst use the suit now and he still wins sometimes because the other guys have a good level but the suits make them go faster...
but that doenst mean that the suit is the one swimming... and a example if michael wears again the suits that doenst mean hes going to win against everyone
all the swimmers train really hard to beat the WC and thats why they do it... Example
u are not that awesome at swimming and u do 1min in 100 freestyle, if someone invites u to swim agains the freestylers dont u think ull improve that time? and its not about nature freaks its about all the things u do to win, but anyway this year will be good for swimming and no one will be able to "cheat"
Ari definitely has NOT cheated as I know her and her coach personally. They uphold ethics and sportsmanship. Swimming under Sean can result in amazing drops!
Where do you draw the line between what is as acceptable advantage and what isn't? Some people's bodies are better suited to their sport than others. Some people's bodies are built as freaks of nature, such as Phelps and Usain Bolt. Is that unfair or uneven ground? If one person's body works better with a suit than another, it's no different from a person who's body was made for swimming.
I find natural talent and a rubber suit to be two completely different things. Phelps is a freak but he's a natural freak. Same for Bolt if he's clean. I'd rather see pure talent win out over someone who is ok naturally but a superstar only with a performance enhancing suit. In textile suits, we'll see the genuine talent and perhaps Kukors will still dominate, but until next year it's up in the air.
This is just an extension of Phelps being dealt a better hand than the average swimmer. If the suit helps one swimmer more because his body is different, then i'd say that person was born lucky genes, like Phelps and it's not the suit's fault. I wouldn't hold it against a person who gets more speed out of a suit because of their unique body than I would hold it against Phelps for having a naturally good swimming body. The person with a better body is still at an advantage.
Some good discussion here re body suits etc. I would say that you can train to improve your body, wheras the advent of a suit and its effects on times does not depend on a swimmers willingness to train and progress.
one of the main arguments for me in favour of the ban is that swimming is already quite an elite sport due to the cost of pool maintenance. by making suit wearing the norm you further exclude people from participating.

She knocks 4secs off her personal best in less than a month and 2 secs off the world record. Tech suit or no tech suit, I say BS. I think she's cheating.
lol? Have you noticed how here technique has improved or how good her under waters have gotten? athletes get tested randomly as well as right after the event. Explain to me, how on earth she could be cheating?
Because that kind of improvement just doesn't happen in less than a month. 6 months maybe, a year maybe, not in a few weeks. Technique is important, but so is strength. Look how long it took for Phelps to get where he is, years. If you think the sport is clean, you're very naive. All the talk about high tech suits have distracted from doping.
But your still missing the point, how can she be doping if she is being tested multiple times? It's not possible, plenty of swimmers have incredible meets. Look at biedermann. Maybe kukors under performed at trails and is simple performing well here. You don't know what kind of practice she has been doing and what times she has trained for so you can't judge her based upon 2 meets.
Considering that Ariana has failed to make the US national team on more than one occasion in the past, you'd have to be stupid to think that she did not taper for trials.
all you guys who don't really follow swimming are retarded obviously they can't cheat because they are very very very closely monitored. if she had cheated she would have been banned a long time ago.
What about Biedermann and Higl. They knocked hige chunks of their PBs. Are they cheating too. Zhang beat Hackett's WR by 6 secs in the 800m. Its clearly the suits that are making them this fast and teh suits have differenet affects on different swimmers.
Higl took her PB in the 200 breast from 2.30 to 2.21 in just two months.

No, swimming in a Jaked or X-Glide results in amazing drops. You do not go from 2:11 to 2:06 in a 200 IM within a month without help.

Don't know about drugs, but the suit is moot. Stephanie Rice is also wearing a 100% polyurethane suit, so the grounds are level.

The grounds aren't level when tech suits aid some swimmers more than others.
