Got ma 3d model ready but not sure where to start from, I want to apply texture, normal map, opacity, specular and diffuse map, can any one please tell me what should be applied first? does normal comes first or the texturing n other maps?, I have finished unwrapping my model.
A normal map created like this won't be right. All the gimp plugin does is make the dark areas of the image go inwards and the light areas outwards. It won't be quite right if you just run an image through it like this. The dark bricks will go further inwards than the lighter ones for example.
There's a tutorial for that made by totter333. In the first part he says how to make normal map but since you got that skip ahead a bit and he will explain how to add the normal map.
BTW his tutorial is on my favorites and blender playlist.
i see, id like to help with future games im a pretty good designer ill post some vids later, but for now i have a question, in my zombie game i want the zombie to follow me when im near, i got that down but he follows me backwards ( he moves towards me with his back facing me) IVe tried rotating but i cant get it, any ideas?
I'm not really good with this sort of stuff(I haven't really bothered learning the programming side of blender) but what might help is to use python coding to tell your zombie to face your character. I think you should as laxwolf though because he is good at this sort of stuff. His link is on my channel.
Normal maps are for people who make games and what they do is they give a flat texture a 3d effect saving the modeler a lot of bother. For example CoD4 if you look closely at the walls you will notice the texture is flat but far away it looks 3D. Normal maps are used in all games nowadays.
Yes but the problem is that your wall will look flat and unrealistic. And making a normal map on blender(or whatever program you are using) takes a lot longer and is more complicated than just doing it on gimp. By adding a normal map to your wall it will make it look more realistic. project Phoenix is coming along quite smoothly, we have some more members so it should progress a lot faster.
Great sound quality!
