If you look off in the distance as the opposing train is about to be past, it too is misting. It is not smoke.

Its not smoking, its just the rain water flying off the wires.

Trust me it is smoking. The opposing train is not misting. It starts to smoke due to the amount of current passing through the thin shoe plate. We are taking about 600amps of 11500volts AC electricity when the train is in power phase moving a load. I work at overbrook rail house on the silverliners. when the granite Plate wears thin I replace them. A very dangerous job if not cautious and following proper procedures. The Rain is pretty harsh to the Shoe plates they are a soft composite metal

Yeah, I don't know either way because I am far from an expert on the subject, but it is kinda curious, if it is the rain on the wires, why there isn't any spray coming off the wires on the opposing train. Leads me to think that it is smoke, but i dunno.

I saw that train in Trenton. I could not BELIEVE WHAT I SAW!
