@ChristianMusician247 Your welcome! And yeah, I've been playing for 4 years now! I'm absolutely in love with playing flute! I would love to play a flute solo for fine arts, but the memorization part is a bit intimidating.
@ChristianMusician247 You're very welcome! And yeah, I have played for about 4 years now. I love playing my flute! I've wanted to do a flute solo at Fine Arts, but the memorization part is a bit intimidating to me.
@FlutePlayerLovee You should do Fine Arts! I didn't think I could do the memorization part, but if you really really practice and let the Lord lead you it's definitely possible! And it's absolutely worth all the hard work! Some of the best experiences as a musician I've had were at Fine Arts.
@ChristianMusician247 Thanks for the tips! I may look into it for next year. Do you have any suggestions on song choice? Like composer or where to find good music.
Hey! this is amazing!!! Last year i made it to districts but missed nationals by only a few points. but anyways do you like add your own stuff to your songs or is this just how the arrangement is? also do you reccomend using an accompanment cd or having someone actually play the accompaniment part?
Hey, thanks so much! I added a lot of stuff to the song...a lot of the ornaments and trills weren't written in so I put them in :) [This was a great arrangement though, by Dave Ritter] Also...it just depends on accompaniment...the great thing with a CD is that you can practice whenever and know that it will be the same every time. On the other hand, it's great to have a live accompaniment in case you mess up or forget something. Hope that helps!! Just message me if you have more questions!
Hi! one word..."God." He gave you such a wonderful talent! I'm going to Nationals in August 09 as well, and whoa...talked about getting psyched out!! I wonder who the person was that managed to beat you!?!? Would you happen to have any advice? It's coming down to the last minute and I'm spending all of my money trying to get to Orlando to compete and I don't want it to be wasted...
Thanks!!
p.s. where do you get your music? I ended up writing my own from piano music.
Hey! Thank you so much! My music is written by David Ritter. The music he arranges is gorgeous and played by many past merit recipients. My advice would be to give it all to God. If you've memorized and practiced your music down, now all you have to do is give it back to God. While performing, it is important to remember you have judges and an audience--look at the judges and the audience every once in a while. If you mess up, DON'T SHOW IT. Take a breather, pray, and give it to God!
Hi. You sound great. Did you place on Nationals? I am just wondering because I am also going to nationals during August 2009. Did you play with a soundtrack and did you embellish your music any and change it? I am trying to get some pointers before I go.
Hey! I got 2nd with this solo...I sent you a rather long message that should help a bit! Nationals is so much fun! Remember, it's not ALL about the competition. Don't forget to praise God with the extraordinary talent He has given you!
Wow! Amazing! How long have you been playing?!?!?!?!
