I am getting my hands on a very nice Ford LT11 from an elderly man who owns a tractor scrapyard, and repairs them. It is all origanal and no rust. Hasn't run in years though. Anyway, the engine on this thing is supposed to be incredible, it was used to tow heavy equipment in and out of a warehouse. Anyone know the value of one like I described? I would like to know. Thanks!
I just got a home made off road go cart that my uncle built for his son 20 years ago. It is in rough shape but has the same engine as u and a 4 speed transmission. Got oil soaking in the cylinder before I attempt anything.
oo, how fast does it turn over? good or does it go urgh, urgh, urgh, urgh. check for spark, maybe the plug is full of junk. its happen to me a few times
hey ive got and 81 wizard with a 11 b&s and a 3 speed id like to do a pulley swap ive tried once had the entire rear axle out from under neath but i didnt know where to go from there and if i put a leaf blower {2stroke with exhaust outside of blower} onto it will i see any decent gains should i run it rich if i do?
I also have a Cub Cadet 1450 that has a Kohler 14hp in it. It has a lot of vibration I was wondering if it was a stuck governor weight. One of the features of the engine is the partial opening of the exhaust valve to reduce compression load on the electric starter. This is accomplished with a small governor arrangment, when the engine starts then the valve fully closes giving max power.
At this time I have a pair of 3.5 hp engines and I have figured out a way to convert them into Stirling Hot Air Engines to run on a 10' satelite dish where the screen mesh is replaced with mirrored plexiglass. This now makes them practical to do work in a GREEN fashion.
They operate under the principle of (hot) expanding air and (cold) contracting air within a closed loop. This type of engine is also known as an external combustion engine. As long as the hot side is hot and the cold side cold, unless there is a mechanical failure, once started the engine will run for ever. There are numerous postings of model stirlings. BS did some work with these in the 1960's I think.
I was wondering about this as I have been seeing stuff on hydrogen gas generators that are for a use as you produce set up, thus no Hindenburg incidents
many moon ago when I was a teenager, our family had a 28' lawn mower with a BS motor that had a windup crank on it, the setup was nice in that you didn't throw your shoulder out pulling on the recoil start, it was crank it (like winding a watch main spring) then hit the release lever and the spring spun the engine.
if memory serves me I believe it was a Craftsman, now it comes to me it was a 32" and it had a 5hp B&S motor, the wind up crank was excellent. The mower ran great until on day I was cutting a neighbor's yard and hit a metal pipe they had in the yard and didn't tell me about it nor did they offer anything toward purchase of new mower, needless to say I had nothing to do with them after that!
It was a vertical shaft. I think the only thing damaged was a cracked oil pan and bent crank shaft. It would have been more fun to rebuild than the new purchase. Yes I'm 56, my grandfather told me once your never too old he was 76 at the time and I was 11
well i use a digital camera ( i think all of the digital cameras these days can record videos). but i just film with it plug it into the computer, open the camera file and drag and drop very easy im unsure what brand but if you want i can check. we have pretty much new sony handycam witht ouch screen but alittle more complex and harder to transer to comp
o no lol these fords are rare!!! only made 2 years and thats it! the lt-11s any way its going to run agian! i might stick a 14hp twin cylinder in it! that will have plenty of power! i do have a craftsman though i think they call its lt14 thats the engine im putting in it
it wouldent get spark it would shock ya i had the tip for the wire but it wouldent get spark so like i said tryed to take flywheel off it was striped i have alredy cleaned points
frogot to ask you see how dirty the piston and valves are cleaned them up on one of engines for no reasean just to see how clean ir can get lol but if i cleaned them to near new could i tell the difference? i used degreaser a tooth brush steel wool and a wire brush with out scratching a thing.
that engine is not actually as junky as it looks. looks very nice when fully assembled looked even nicer when i got done painting it but unfornunatly the paint wore off lol frogot to use primer.
i got the same thing on my companion

what are stirling hot air engines?
fordwillkillyou 4 years ago
Stirling Engine was dirst invented about 1815.
They operate under the principle of (hot) expanding air and (cold) contracting air within a closed loop. This type of engine is also known as an external combustion engine. As long as the hot side is hot and the cold side cold, unless there is a mechanical failure, once started the engine will run for ever. There are numerous postings of model stirlings. o now i know what your talking about i saw them on the history channel lol.
fordwillkillyou 4 years ago
building a hovercraft with a few of these would also be fun
1foxtrot70 4 years ago
ya it would be fun!!! supprised you havent tryed to or made one yet have you experimented with any thing like that?
