@SuperSenshi Yes; the run function from the prototype NES Earthbound Zero has been kept and actually made a run function rather then speeding up the game's processing, the L button is a check button like EarthBound, there are slight dialogue changes in some parts of the game, the music and sound effects more resemble the NES (Maybe just a drop in quality) and in general, all the changes made from the japanese MOTHER 1 to the NES EarthBpund Zero (graphically and whatever) are present.

All the other boss battles are simple enough if you brute force your way through in a few turns. Figures they decided to be cute and sing this one to death while he dishes out 60+ damage a turn.
The other two Mother games may be great, but this game is one that I'm half-glad wasn't released in the US.

One thing you gotta say about the Mother series, they always have a final boss that litterally chills you (the player) to the bone, and makes you feel alone and insignificant while fighting them. Seriously, I literally had a cold sweat and was hyperventating and tearing up my first time fighting the final boss of Earthbound: I've NEVER done all three playing a game before(I've been in cold sweats over some of the harder bosses).

It affects THIS Gigyas because it met maria. It made him unable to kill. However, this Gigyas is simply too powerful to kill so fighting him would just result in continuous stalemates of Ness' team being faceowned until they started singing the song.
Going back in time, they kill Gigyas as a fetus. Thus why they can't sing to that gigyas, because it has no memories of Maria yet. Because it hasn't met her yet.

He gains so much evil power that it destroys his entire being and mind, and the Devils Machine is to contain Giygas and the evil inside it. Porky releases it to try to murder Ness and his friends. I used 2 English patches, 1 translating nearly all of MOTHER 1, and the other translating some stuff in MOTHER 2. Both patches are designed for the GBA game.

I don't think Gyiyg felt greif for Maria. I don't believe Gyiyg shared Maria's feeling for him, her song simply calmed him. But one thing is for sure, Gyiyg was always malevilent and destructive. He gave Maria nightmares, and the melodies were her only defense against him. Dispite his destructive ways, Maria still loved him, even if he didn't return the feeling

Simple. Geigue is the Japanese name while Giygas is the american-ize name, much like Gojira (spelling) and Godzilla.

Typo in translation. Same creature. So all that "Gygas boss fight is an abortion, machine is a cervix" I think is crap, when THIS is his 'fetal/infant' form. You can even see traces of the alien bio-organic architexture of the Demon Machine in his pod here.

Giygas is the name the localization team gave Giegue (gee-goo) to make him sound more villainous in english.
Basically, in Mother 2, Giygas has built up so much evil and anger that he becomes the embodiment of evil.
To understand why, you'd have to play/read up on Mother 1.

In Mother, Giegue is in his original form (alien like), and in Earthbound, Giegue's rage and hate absorbed his soul and he turnedinto the massive swirl thing he is in earthbound: Giygas. (I think thats how it happened.)

so he died but his influence stayed in the mani mani statue. so the mani mani statue kept his evil alive then it was buryed then lier x agerate found it.
the the evil spread. people thought it was giege (they called him gygas ) so ness went back in time to when gygas was not even born yet and killed him.

I still don't understand the time paradox.
Ness "aborted" gyigas/geigue from the very begining on mother 2. if there's no geigue, them ninten could'nt have had this fight, thus mother 1 never existed. but if geigue never existed, and never get his revenge as gyigas, them ness never got back in time to kill him before he born.
FREAKING TIME PARADOX.

No, no, no, you've got it all backwards. There is no time paradox in the Mother series. Ness doesn't "abort" anything, that's just a fan theory someone came up with because the swirly things in the background of the Giygas boss battle kind of looks like a fetus. Ness kills Giygas *after* he's become so powerful he's consumed himself and gone insane. That is, *after* the events of the first game, where Giygas still has a physical form and some sort of rational thought.

Itoi said in an interview that he he'd be OK if people thought they were the same person or different people. He also mentioned he thought people who played the first game would likely reuse the names for the Mother 2, so its likely Itoi thinks of them as the same person, but its really up to the player.

Um, no. Search "Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back" in Google images, and find the intro screen, and you'll see it more than clearly says "Gyiyg", not Giyig.

I used 2 English patches, 1 translating nearly all of MOTHER 1, and the other translating some stuff in MOTHER 2. Both patches are designed for the GBA game.

MOTHER 1 = Sing 11 times

it was the lullably probably. Ninten's moher sang it to him and it made him go crazy, maybe it caused his evil way. Also Ninten's mom and dad stole the Psi powers from the starmen, so he probably set out to kill them and then the psi powers were passed on to Ninten, so no Gigyas is out to get him.
