Despite the fact that they knew him, this is how people act in movies all the time now. It's ridiculous seeing that nobody has taught their children (many now adults themselves) any manners.
"DON'T DO IT. DON'T DO IT" ahah I watched Who's Hungry before and just found this reaction video. Haha their reactions are pretty much what was going through my head when I watched it XD
I just saw it properly and it is in equal parts beautifully animated, darkly funny and scary-as-hell. Watching the reactions of the audience was actually quite hilarious.
Having done an animation course myself, I tend to be quite hypercritical these days, but I can honestly say that this film was excellent and there is nothing for me to dislike about it. Great job.
The way people are complaining about the audience, it's almost like the film in question is Schindler's List. "Oh, no! The viewers are... ENJOYING themselves! Somebody call the police!"
If this film was a serious piece deconstructing scocial stereotypes or discussing the horrors of war, then i'd agree with the nay sayers. But it isn't. It's a fun little film based on the fairytale of Hansel and Gretel. Any hope if it being serious went out the window when the ice cream man falls in the blender.
That was one annoying audience.. if You have any respect for the film you are watching, then You'd better shut up and watch... that's just my point of view though. An amazing job this short film is, I just love it.
That's a GREAT reaction! Believe me, people, a quiet screening is anything but pleasant (unless it's a serious film that warrants it). the audience was having this weird thing called FUN.
you did an incredible job, both on story and animation. the characters are really cute, too, with a slightly unnerving edge *lol*. you combined my two most favorite things: animation and horror!!
I think the people who where watching the video where cheering because they knew the guy who made the animation and was thinking what a good job the dude did.

i think the audience didn't respect too much this short-film, maybe because they were all friends of the filmaker and somehow they tried to cheer him up, so that's why they laughed and talked and screamed... because they were in confidence with the filmaker...
its more like they respect him because of his impressive skills and he got well known at school because of this film... everyone was just looking forward to this film, thats all so they were excited when they finally got to see it. :)
thats part of the fun during an animation screening dude. Everyone knows what you've been working on and then they erupt when they see it. Its not distracting at all. The final screenings with all your freinds are always fun like that
I'd personally HATE a quiet audience during a screening of something I made, animation or not. I'd think they're not interested enough in it because of their silence.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Funny, I always associate silence with concentration and interest.
Of course, if there's a joke it's good to hear people laughing, or gasping if they're supposed to be made upset.
But these people, it's almost like they're trying to suppress the movie their own eccentric behaviour.
And I was criticizing the behaviour from a viewpoint of another viewer. If these people have all been working on or seen this vid before then I guess this is pretty normal. If alcohol was involved.
Naaah, you're being too much of a stuck-up, really.
For me, as a filmmaker and a film lover, seeing a movie it's like watching football for an average sports fan: i scream, i threw out comments at the screen, i yell, i go apeshit when something surprises me or upsets me. And i'm talking about ANY movie that hooks me, from drama and indie flicks to comedy and action. I hate being quiet during a movie, except when i HAVE to because of a stuck-up audience like you. This audience ROCKS!!
It didn't fit into the last comment but I wanted to say this: if EVERYBODY in the audience is enjoying the movie to the fullest (screaming, yelling, laughing out loud) then you are completely allowed to join them because it IS cool to enjoy movies that way... but if the whole audience is quiet, you should probably stay quiet... and if you're alone watching a movie at home, do whatever the hell you want to!!
And my point is that you can never know what everybody wants. And that should be taken into consideration.
Anyways, I am yet to see a movie or anything that could stir me emotionally so much that I would have such an outburst. (not that I wouldn't wish to see such movie!)
Also I believe it's a cultural thing. I see that you are from Mexico? Not as judgement but just as a final question, people there commonly behave this way in movie theaters?
omg.. that was SO inappropriate. I pictured you picturing us jumping up and down over the chairs throwing feces at the screen... I feel sorry for you. Why do gringos insist on thinking we are different?! We're the SAME!
Anyways, no: it's just me.
Don't answer anymore, we're being jerks: this should be a place to comment about this guy's extraordinary short film, not about your medieval thoughts on human behavior at the movies. Let's drop it.
But gotta say that you really aren't the sharpest pencil in the box. You call me racist without a reason, and then run away as you reply with a racial slur.
"Gringo" is NOT a racial slur. It's pretty common to call ANY US-person a "gringo". It gets nasty depending on the tone you use but it's just a regular word if you just say it.
I watched the film without the audience reaction as well, but I decided to comment on this one. I think you got the reactions you were looking for, right? It seems like it was a very successful project. Congratulations on atmostphere, style, and mood, and pacing. Your choices of shots were also very sophisticated. I creeped me out but i enjoyed it very much.
I saw this posted on CartoonBrew. The film is a sophisticated, technically well-made film for a first-year animation student.
BUT THIS AUDIENCE SCARES ME. What a bunch of ghouls. The most horrific , ugly moments get laughs and cheering ? The audience reaction recorded here is much scarier than the film.
But it does weird me out that the audience seems so delighted at Frozen Boy's ugly demise. (and with the cheering on of the unknowing cannibalism---well, geez, poor Frozen Boy just don't get no respect.)

So it's stuck-up for wanting to be able hear the movie?
And what is it that you would loose from being silent, are you afraid that your pack wouldn't accept you anymore? Or worse, they would ignore you?
And it is nice to hear that you don't hate being quiet during a movie if you have to. Maybe you after all have a chance.
