I'm from KC. Here we have snow and sometimes sub zero temps, but it's never consistent enough to freeze a pond well enough to play. Only thing here is goddamn roller hockey. I wanna move to the Great White North for some hockey, health-care and hemp. Yall are more free there than here in the US
Im jealous of all you guys that could wake up everyday during the winter months & jump on the ice in your back yards or down the street. Some of my best memories where when I played street hockey with a group of about 25 guys. We played every chance we could. Most of those guys where older & when they went off to college there where only a few of us youngsters left & those daily games all but dried up.
Street was great & I'll never forget those years, but the pond would have been awesome.
If those rinks were in my city i would be out there everyday but nope im a pond rat every day shoveling the pond hoping that the ice never melts this is my life hockey is my life and always will be i live to play hockey nothing is better
i live in South Dakota and i was playing on our pond just a few hours ago... i learned how to skate on my pond like 12 years ago when i was 3 and i play hockey on as soon as the ice is thick enough.
@slayer6464 the people who have ponds dont appreciate them now days if i had a pond i could go 2 i would be there every day for 5 hours its a god damn shame
@slayer6464 what part of jersey do you live in? i live in bergen county (northern nj) and there are a couple of ponds that freeze. in one town, they even made an outdoor rink and let kids skate on for free. one half for skating the other for hockey.
This winter i made a sweet ice rink on a lake. Shoveled a rink 3/4 the size of an official rink and then pumped water out of an augered hole. We even had lines. Best pond hockey I've ever played.
I cant think of very many things that excited me as a kid than waking up to find black ice on the pond by my house. All the kids in the area would come and play. Some parrents even came and started fires on the ice and cooked food. From sun rize to sun set i would stay on the ice. great times
man i wish i still lived in the mid north east. in California has no snow let alone people how play hockey. we only have roller hockey and a bit of ice and it cost a shit load to play here but i can relate to those late nights playing in sub 0 weather. that is the only way to truly experience how hockey was meant to be played. cant what to get out of California and back to a place where hockey rules.
yeah, i live in northern jersey. there are several freezable lakes around me, but i never got the chance to play pond hockey. i'm probably gonna move up north when i get older. lol
pond hockey is awesome. my dad and my sister and i clear off the pond in our backyard (although it's as big as a lake) every winter and we can play out there all day. it's just awesome. it's what winter is all about.
my hometown we dont have ponds or rivers so the volleyball courts get frozen. thats my kinda "pond hockey" but hey its still fun cant wait to get on a real POND
mines in a parking lot taht gets overflowed every winter by the river next to it. unfourtunantly it doenst get cold enough here for the river to freeze but the parking lot freezes over! i really wanna play on a real pond though too!
I wake up every morning, walk outside, and play some hockey.
