There was a treatment but it was 10,000 and he was in so much pain that they didn't think he would make it through the night anyways so we decided to make the decision. It was the hardest thing to do in my life. That was about 4 years ago and I still tear up at the thought of him. He was my baby boy and my best friend. He was only 5 years old too.
I finally got him back on track when he coliced again and we took him back to the university but he only stayed there over night and then I got with a big trainer and was planning on going to my first paint show with him when he coliced again. We took him back over to the university. He stayed there two days and it turned out that he had Interior Anteritos Disease which basically means that at any time for no reason his small intestine would just shut down.
Sorry to here about her :( I know exactly how you feel. I had to go through almost the exact same thing with my old paint Skippy. he coliced when he was 3 and we took him to the university to get surgery and after 5 months of rehab I could start riding again.
I've also met horses that have been neglected and abused. They were so beautiful, I couldn't imagine why someone would do something that horrible to them. I know how you feel. A hole does become in your heart. It's a terrible fealing.
omg I'm so sorry. :( Char is one of the most beautiful paints I've ever seen. I totally know how you feel. A horse I was close to had to be put down cause he had something worng with his hooves and couldn't be fixed. Biscuit had eventually died. :( When I think about him tears come to my eyes.
I am so So So Sorry that Char died..i can see that you loved her so much..and i know how you feel, you feel like there is this giant hole in your heart that wasnt there before..But dont forget you still have Jake..and he loves you as much as you loved char..and he wants you to love him as much as you loved char...yea you lost one of your bestfriends..but your not alone you still got another of one your friends.. So next time you go to the place where she was buried just know she isnt in pain.

He stuck the needle in my horse and he was gone. Everytime i now see that vet he is all oh i remember putting your horse down. :'( Just dont let anything else come between you, just keep your head up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come to find out the vet before (who owns the vet place) drew the blood for something else and lied that it was tocheack for internal spots, we had the blood drawn agian and her levels were extreamily high and if she hadnt been put on medicine that day or the other vet would have never re cheacked, my horse would have died, and I would have been devestated! I am so sorry about ur loss, R.I.P Char. <3 <3
Then about a week later she got it in to more spots and called the vet agian, only it was a different one but from the same pleace. The vet asked my mom if she needed to draw blood to cheack for internal pigeon fever and my mom said no because she already had it done, but that vet said she didnt think that my horse
My horse got pigeon fever this last winter and we called the vet, so he fixed her up and drew her blod to make shure she didnt have it internaly and it came back negative.
I'm sorry. My very first mare was taken from me, so I sorta now how you feel. She is a beautiful horse. I love paint horses too. Like i said, i'm really sorry. :(

i've lost a horse before, its reallly hard. she was hit by a motorcycle(drunk driver)..its sad that she died, my friends horse had colic surgery or he wouuld of died. his gut flipped over on the side and he had an impaction the size of a basketball.. i'm sorry for your loss.

and then she was just torn away from me so quickly and suddenly and 2 this day its hard 2 believe shes gone and i thought id never b able 2 c another horse in her stall, and neither did the barn owner rick (her true owner) he was so torn up by it but eventually kareen moved in and it gets easier but i can still only pic emmy in there and i never new what a big part of r barn she was until she was gone ='(

Char was 8 well 9 years old according to APHA rules. but she was turning 9 on May 10th. She foundered because of the farrier.

sry it didnt post but the horse i was talking about was emmy, i knew her for 6yrs and she was just taken away from me in feb, i just got a text (that i still have 2 this day) on feb 6, 3:31pm:we lost emmy 2day, i was in complete shock and we just fed her the night b4 and she was in ideal health and everything!!!
