@shinegrove Of course the lyrics were different because it was a different song (and thus also the tune differs). Peter Schilling wrote his song as a response to 'space oddity', the Bowie song you are reffering to. Peter Schilling is the original artist.
@1994BaMBaM1994 david bowie sang space odisy in american, it was ok, peter schilling sand major tom in german in 1983 and then he sang it in english in '85 it was a great song, then shiny toy guns, and who ever the fuck this group is, they came and fucked it up BAD
Under pop rules, they could on make this song 4:21 long. Otherwise the teenage girls that listen to this band, wouldn't have a long enough attention span to listen to this song. Unfortunate.

you're a retard, Peter Schilling's version is like 100 times better than the Shiny Toy Guns version, and it's a million times better than this trashy boy band version
It's not supposed to be a sad song. As I understand it, while Space Oddity was about Major Tom getting lost in space; Major Tom is about the revelation that Major Tom is actually an alien and he's going home to his people. He's calling home aka the mothership or whatever. I can't believe I actually researched this.
It came out in 2007, the Import version of Embrace The Curse, and also in 2008, the official version, too. There's so many ways you can get it. iTunes, Bestbuy, Amazon. etc.
Amazing cover. I love IHK. haha I know the drummer which is pretty cool, he used to teach lessons at my uncles music school before they closed it. But again amazing band and great cover. =D
This is an excellent cover. I, too, like this better than the original. I'm also excited to hear the "Shiny Toy Guns" full version, but this was excellent.
I Hate Kate is an alternative rock band from Huntington Beach, California. The band was founded in November, 2004 by former Zebrahead frontman Justin Mauriello, to explore his musical options. for more info on IHK, go to wiki if you want to know about them or not.

Very rarely does a band cover an original and have it turn out better. If these guys didn't do just that, then they came god-awful close.

Eww sorry I like Peter Schillings version much better. Shiny Toy Guns was a bit better than this, but nothing compares to the original IMO.

Not as good as the original, but at least they made it their own instead of making a near exact copy like some other covers out there.
