I have one from 2001 1,9 TDI 131HP, I can tell that is the best car in the world... respect Audi A4, Peugeot 407 and BMW320d, but VW Passat is the best !
The British are the people who brought us VW, they are the ones who helped shape up the factories in Germany after the second World War. If they hadn't done it then that brand wouldn't have existed. The brand helped building the economy of the new Germany so there is definently no shame in the brand itself, despite how it came to be.
Yeah it makes sense, how ironic that a company that most likely has possible roots to Hitler made a commercial with Dr King's I have a dream, I guess hence the theme about times are changing. I like VW, thinking of getting the passat soon.
Possible roots? Initial funding came from the Third Reich! That's probably a part of history that VW isn't proud of. Anyway, I drive a '99 Passat. Had it since new and still runs great.
Serious, i heard about the electrical issues with vw and the expensive parts, im also lookin at acura which is seen as more "asian" reliable. Im coming out of college still ridin a 00 focus, so really i shouldnt be picky, but how has your vw been for u? thanks appreciate the feedback
Early models did suffer from minor electrical issues but these were sorted out over the years. Parts are more expensive on average but last a lot longer. Drop me a line at my email p_kuah at hotmail dot com
Personally, I don't really know but I'm guessing that it could have something to do with the overall theme because the B5 Passat was a departure from VW's old boxy designs of old and as it says at the end, 'The shape of things to come from Germany' and also the theme song that was chosen, 'The Times They Are A-Changing'? Hopefully this makes some sense... only my 2 cents worth.
