I've always wondered how guitars get worn like that. Do some of them not have a clear coat? Because I've been playing my fender mustang for 10 years and it still has paint in those spots. Not on the bottom in places but that's from being smashed

@axlesteel12 He actually had it custom made like that. It's not old, though there are some players with vintage guitars who certainly do have guitars that beat up. He didn't want it laquered because it "doesn't breath" so he says. I'm sure he's right, but that' guitar isn't more than 5 or 6 years old I don't think.

I love John Mayer's music, but honestly, this video demonstrates perfectly why I do not go to concerts. Pubescent girls screaming, people yelling, yes including guys..... and singing and talking during the songs, all annoys me to no end. I prefer just to buy the CD, close my eyes, and let the music take me to another place....certainly not a shitty arena with 15,000+ girls and guys screaming during a song.

This is the beauty of music. Everyone has a different taste and a different opinion... And in my opnion... Mayer is the better performer in terms of stagepresence.

Then again, Bonamassa is the superior guitarist. In both speed and technical skill he is way better than JM.

And so is the opinion of all major guitarmags. They cant all be wrong, can they?

as far as raw feeling/emotion.... check JB's 'if heartaches were nickels' It can easily compete with JM!!

@MegaDutchdude I greatly agree with you that bonamassa is by far better at playing the guitar. He could probably play anything BUT, as just a guy playing the guitar, i'm sure most people would rather listen to mayer. At least in my opinion he has a better connection to it and seems much more natural when he's playing it. Bonamassa could play all sorts of things but john mayer really makes a guitar sing. Joe just seems a bit robotic

I guess as a guitarist i mainly lean to the style that john mayer plays, especially in his bluesy stuff, just straight up blues and kind of jazz licks. But thats just what i prefer to play.
