  • Those are the words of experience. A very respectful, caring and wise person. Nebraskans should always remember Tom and try to imitate his wisdom and tact. Truthfully, one of the most tactful persons I've had the privilege of seeing. Pellini, take note: if you have this type of personality, your players will love to play for you and Nebraskans will admire you greatly.

  • Honestly to tell you to truth if Nebraska wouldn't of fucked around with teams (northwestern, Wisconsin, an Michigan) we could be #2 and going against LSU in the BCS...

  • 4-0 LOL... like that was going to happen with Billy C.

Glad Bo won a BCS title with LSU, it helped insulate him a lot from impatient Husker fans that would have been bitching in 2004-2005.....etc...

  • Fire Solich was the worst decision ever made in college football.

  • @RainbowManification couldnt agree more... why let a man go who lead us to a 9-3 season?? Steve Peterson is a fuck...

  • @RainbowManification No hiring Callahan was the worst decision, Solich was an ok coach (In fact a better coach than Callahan.) but he wasn't a good coach for Nebraska when some of Osborne's recruits graduated he was predictable in a lot of games, when they fired Solich they should've just gone to Pelini but something was wrong with Pederson when he hired Callahan.

  • @RainbowManification

actually we did need to get rid of solich. he wasn't recruiting at all. as you can see from our 7-7 season in 2002, his first full season with only his recruits. in 2003, he was 9-3 but our 3 losses were by a total of 70 points. not competitive with the best. that's why he was let go. the mistake was the hiring of the idiot bill callahan. but everything happens for a reason and things have worked out well thus far..

  • @travis2x I guess your right. Bo Pelini had alot of work to do with the program after he came on. Suh was a godsend. However I have concerns going into the Big 10. We have Burkhead, Taylor Martinez is a 2nd string QB and is a wanna be half-back, don't get me started on Cody Green. Bubba Sterling is a maybe as far as football goes, but if he does come on, we will get to the Big 10 title game at-least.

  • @RainbowManification wow were you wrong...

  • @JoRoW99 we still could of done better, inconsistent in big 10 play. We lost to Michigan but won against Michigan State. WTF? 9-3 in regular season is not representative of Nebraska play when they were in the Big 12 under pelini. We failed for BCS bowl eligibility first time under pelini.

  • my most fav image of this whole thing is with peterson crying and getting in his black suv with the tinted window and driving away. Perfect

  • bill callahan ran nebraskas program into the ground.

  • come back tom we neeeeeed you

  • you couldnt be more wrong.

  • Tom Osborne is a class act

  • i never understood how tom osborne was able to be so classy about firing bill callahan and kevin cosgrove. he is the greatest coach ever, and they suck. and i am very confident bo pelini is going to turn our program around.

  • I think the reason why is cuz he was under just as bad of situation when he lost how many bowl games..he was one of those "couldn't win the big one" coaches for how many years..so im sure its gata suck for him that he never got fired just to come back to nebraska and have to do what he never went through..even thou those coaches did suck shit at their job, im sure for him, he understood what they were going through so that made it ever harder to let them go..still classy as ever thou.

  • well he was in a fairly bad situation in his first few years, but he went at least 9-3 every single year, and when he lost, he didnt lose by 30 or 40 points. bc did, and shouldnt have. as good as both KU and mizzou were last year, we should not have lost that bad, not to mention against mediocre teams like OSU, a&m, and CU. bo has such a different coaching style than bc, and it is so much better. i know bc and cos came to NU in a bad situation, but they just made it worse. and cos just sucks :P

  • Its just kinda crazy how a man can be here only ONE year and make the kind of impact he made just based on his defense and his attitude. He's just such an old school college football coach that makes NU football feel like family again like it used to. Bill Callahan was just more a NFL, bussiness type coach who could care less about us "hillbillies". Thank God Bo is back.

  • This day proved that there very much IS a God.

  • i agree one hundred and ten percent!

  • Pelini was a great choice. Nebraska will return to the fundamentals: Bone crushing blackshirt defense and running the football like maniacs.

  • i guess we wont know for sure how good he is until the season starts, but even if he goes 0-12, id rather have him than bill c. and he wont. i think we can hope for at least an ok d this year, after going 112th last year, but with enough talent to do well in pelini's d. and on offense, we should be even better than last year: a very physical and deep line will boost our 3 (maybe 4) deep RBs, so look for a strong running game.& with our WRs and mobile QB, look for zone read and plenty of passing.

  • One of the Best days in Nebraska Football.

  • Callahan can suck my left nut, he killed the nebraska program

  • I blame Pederson. Callahan was a man looking for a job and was too stubborn to adapt to the Nebraska way and forced his system on us.

  • Agree. Pederson gets 100% of my blame.

But, that's all water under the bridge now.

    Bo Big Red

  • That it is.

  • @jcdsb11 Are you kidding? Bill Callahan was the best thing that ever happened to NU football! 40-15 in 2005, 76-39 in 2007! RCJH!

  • @6891man Tom Osbourne is the best thing that ever happened to NU football.

  • I hope he finds a good coach who can win

  • i think he found a very capable coach in bo pelini. hes been nothing but a success everywhere hes gone. just look at the 2003 NU defense. if we would have had an offense that year, we woulda been very much a title contender, thanks to bo's awesome defense (not to mention marvin sander's interception-machine secondary. and sanders is back this year too).

  • ive been looking for this ...thanks man
