In 1969 I was stiinging in the front car of a northbound red line train traveling the straightaway between Sheridan Rd and Wilson Ave. As we approached the Wilson Ave yards a man who had climbed onto the track tried to walk across and just got frickin zapped by the 3rd rail. I remember the motorman yelling.."GOD....DAMN!" I was 6 at the time, sitting in the seat that was next to the motorman's compartment. I'll never forget the way the sparks flew,and the man fell forward. It was terrible...
In chicago the CTA train (all lines) is called the L train. It's also called the EL, but most people like to use just the L in most cases because it's cooler.
