  • Ignore the comments of those who just don't get it. Play it the way you feel it! You wouldn't expect Jimi Hendrix to play a Dylan Song the way Dylan wrote it, and you don't have to play classical music the way everyone else has always played it either. I am a 58 year old professional violinist. I got here via your excellent Gershwin Prelude #2. I play the Heifetz arrangement for violin and piano. If I find myself in Vancouver I'm going to look you up so we can play it together.

  • my opinion is that this music was meant to be played with the correct style and the change you made wasnt for the better

  • A+!!!!!!

  • This has always been one of my personal favorite pieces - and this is by far the best interpretation of it I have ever heard! Just like I've always imagined it, and like I've wanted to play it myself.

I couldn't agree less with the people complaining about the rubato. Tempo giusto is not for this piece, whatever the sheet says (btw my sheet doesn't say that :-)).

  • lol i could feel more your facial expression that your passion while playing,,what i mean is..there are some part where you put too much on if which are not needed and not puting inpart where is mostly needed.on the beggining of the chorus, you are not to slow it and put dybamics unto it because it is played on normal dynamics and speed..which you changed it therefore wee have to change ourregards for you as well..otherwise, if i were to rate it 3/6..youre good though..keep more practice

  • I think you play is much to edgy... if you know what I mean... this walz has to flow. It has to be more gentle and sweet... I think^^

  • I really like the way you play this. Everyone else I've heard is really pompous and arrogant in the piu mosso sections. I like it when it's quiet and reserved. Piano players generally piss me off. you didn't. I liked it. Don't get me started on various interpretations of satie.

    Nice interpretation man! Good one!

  • Beautiful played !!

Wow !! probably the best I've ever heard!

  • interesting interpretation, but I don't think this piece is for rubato. Doesn't it say on your score "tempo giusto?"

  • It should say tempo giusto shouldn't it! Exact tempo, no rubato I think!

But this however was beautifully played.

  • Beautiful job! Your expressive playing brought a smile to my face :)!

  • Maybe a little too much rubato? One of the hardest things to do is develop control over it .. do it too much and it gets old, do it too little and it sounds dull.

Play for long enough, it'll come to you. You're on the right track.

  • I agree, the rubato made me sea-sick! But your sound is beautiful

  • you should have a closer look on your pedal. You shoudn't literally look your pedal, but you had too many breaks while using it. Many people say that using the pedal right is one of the hardest things (in terms of music, of course). I have other little things in my mind about this, but yeah, it was quite good though. I hope I didn't sound too negative, at least I didn't mean to.

  • Played nicely, except ... I'd say a little too much rubato in my opinion.

  • I feel so sad that only a few kids are interested in this kind of music they preffer other kinds but this is good too

  • Beautifully played !I heard about ten people play the same piece just before I clicked on your link and you're the best by far ! Well done ! So much feeling and expressions. After all music is about expressing one's feeling.

  • I like the vibe you add to this masterpiece

  • nice job awesome

  • Yo, Awesome! There is nothing to add, except it shares a kinship with mine! U can olso pique Chopin's interest by changing his notes a little and giving it a Russian feel...he'll like that!

  • very well done man! and nice piano xD... look for "vals in c chopin" it' also very good. ;)

  • I like the way you play with the tempo, and it's certainly supposed to be stretched and compressed slightly, but sometimes, especially in the beginning, it's just too much. Don't make the listener seasick.

  • wow nice! but why do you sit so close to the piano?

  • very sensitive CHopin. well done fella

  • good job but seriously.. watch ur tempo.. i know your probably tring to express the music but.. yeah.. too much =P.. i'll upload my video soon.. =P

  • nice! i ve been practicing this piece this last time

  • this is awesome :)

  • this is really better than the first recording, the body movement MIGHT be a little bit over, but who knows what mood he was in :)

  • The mayority of great pianists express only with hands and no with body language. I think your movements are a little overexpressed although you play this walts really good and excellent technique!

  • although many people may agree that his movements are overexpressed.. i think that his movements only show how in sync he is with this music... i know when i play piano, the music controls me, and i just go with it..

  • Oh that's beautiful! Much better interpretation than the other one I saw. You've got real talent :)

  • Excellent. Although perhaps where there ws a 'meaningful pause' on the surface, it was maybe a hesitation underneath? I'm talking about that bit with the slightly tricky ascending chords (only happen once) in the left hand, in the D flat major section.

But, that's just me being ridiculously minutely pedantic. You still play it wayyyy better than I do. I go too loud and fast normally.

  • Nice interpretation of a very beautiful piece.

I'd have to say that your changes in tempo threw me off-guard for a bit, but that's probably because I'm used to listening to the MIDI format and not a "live" performance. 5/5

  • very good interpretation; congratulations!listen... send me the partiture of the song to jonydic@hotmail.com please

  • WOW!

I have so much trouble playing this song!

  • This one is definatelly better than the other one. It's still a little different than what I'm used to hearing, but no doubt that you play really well.

  • I love to see a pianist like yourself moving with the music. It looks like you really have a passion for playing. awesome job. And that is a beautiful piece of music you chose

  • I like this interpretation quite a lot. I think it's coherent, develops in an interesting way, and it's fun. Well done.

  • I liked your first recording better. It was much cleaner with less pedal. But your second recording by all means is bad. It is quite good. Don't listen to people how something should be played like this or that. Everyone has their taste and you should play how you like it. That's what makes music interesting. Everyone has different things to say to the same music. Good job.

  • I play this piece too, but havent uploaded onto youtube yet. LOL, the way you move your head and and your facial expressions are just like me.

I havent watched your first upload of this waltz, but this is a pretty job. My interpretation is much less rubato, I think you warp the tempo way to much in some parts. but still a good recital. 5/5 man!
