Many thanks for posting this. I've been interested in getting an "entry-level" resonator. It really does have a good sound & now I definitely want one.
beautiful sounds! how much did u pay for it if i may ask? what should i look for in a resonator. i was looking at a fender wood body resonator today. unfortunatly there was no slide to try on it.
I'm not an expert on them by any means but I would just make sure that it has a nice sound (obviously!) but also that the neck actually works so that you can play it without a slide. The internation on my guitar is slightly out and the action is quite high - which is ok for slide - but when I play it without a slide, I use a capo and play up the neck a bit.
Oh also, don't pay too much for one if it's your first resonator. Once you've had one for a while, you'll learn to appreciate the subtleties that the more expensive resonator guitars offer - so you can choose a more expensive one later.
Finally, some of them are heavy - the all metal body ones are really heavy - so consider that depending on what you're going to with it. Also if you want to play it plugged in, look for one with some kind of pick up.
> nooo i dont want to learn slide i already can i just wanted to know the good points and bad points about this nevada resonator
Well, it's not very bassy nor is it particularly raspy - and the fret board isn't the smoothest. However, for the money, I think it has a very nice sound, esp with a slide and it looks great. Like most guitars, i guess you just need to try it and see if you like it. I've not played many resonators but like mine.
How good are these for more folky music :)?

@thegeorgew1993 Well, it's not the best neck in the world - it's a budget guitar after all. Plus the strings are deliberately heavy for slide.

is it not a nightmare to change strings on that thing?
dee123456989 1 year ago
@dee123456989 No, just exactly the same as any other guitar.

The neck is slightly rounded.

@caralhosvosfodam It's a Roundneck, you can always tell by the Headstock. Square have a Classical type Headstock

Where are you buying yours? Are you from europe?
caralhosvosfodam 2 years ago
I live in England so I shall either get it from a music shop or I have also seen these guitars on Ebay UK for a very good price.

Most music shops you go into should have a slide behind the counter to try the guitar with - after all, they are trying to sell you it !

any tips good points and bad points etc....

Do you mean tips for playing? Playing slide is of course quite tricky. Perhaps there is someone teaching how to play slide online? Or get a dvd?

are they all acoustic?
fartisgay3 3 years ago
I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you mean is the guitar acoustic - then yes, there is no pickup - just using the laptop mic.
LeeOades 3 years ago
They are the original strings. Not sure what gauge they are although not particularly heavy.
LeeOades 3 years ago
Are they the original strings, or a lighter set?
The originals looked to be rather heavy gauge on the one I saw in a shop.
