  • Best all around trumpet player in the history........ By far..........

  • muy buenos agudos

  • i have the whole show on Beta Tape!

it can easily be transferred to dvd

  • Doc's got it all... enough said... I mean seriously he can do everything on the horn... and things that most of us can only dream of...

  • Yo I see this is the vid response to my Vid of the studio recording. Nice VID DUDE! nice heads up!

  • Anyone know who did this arrangment? It's wierd to hear the vocalists after hearing Stan Kenton's performance.

  • I believe that's his "Today's Children" & "Now Generation Brass" group, I assume whoever normally did their arranging.

It was during the era of his "Night Journey" album, maybe someone on there? That's the jacket he wore on one of the album covers of Night Journey - where he was sitting down against a blue satin background, there was another cover with a couple dancing. Not sure what the story was there.

  • @trumpetvids At that time, most of the arrangements came from Tommy Newsom, Marty Paich, Mike Barone, and Lenny Stack. I think this might have been one of Lenny's. ( I was one of the singers then; the guy in the middle.)

  • Hadn't seen this video in a while. Forgot how incredibly awesome Doc sounds on this. Holy shit!

  • damn doc

  • It is so unfair that ANY trumpet player should have that much talent! Is there anything Doc CAN'T do on a horn? As cravenmoorehead2000 said, his tone is to die for. As StradMan37 says, he...and a whole lot of us other folks...have been trying to sound like him for years. Articulation, range, tone, phrasing...it's all there. Bless you, Doc Severinsen, for all your years of inspiration!

  • I think that is Snooky on lead.

  • I've been trying to "sound like Doc" for 40 yrs......still tryin'!!!!

  • dang....i've only been playing for 8 years.... if that's the case i've got a lot of work ahead of me! haha

  • On the program from the '71 concert, which Doc played w/my HS band(reward for "state champs")at Cincy Symphony Hall. In the program, Doc is quoted: "If I miss ONE day of practice, I can tell - if I miss TWO days, my BAND can tell - if I miss THREE days, EVERYONE knows!"

So, I practice 2 hours daily, but what REALLY helps is to keep the BODY strong, esp from low back, up to neck & arm muscles.

So, I exercise for 1 hour daily.

It improves my playing, but I STILL ain't no DOC!!!

  • That tone is to die for...
