A possum went into our trash can one day. Sadly, my Dad had to pick it up from its tail and set it into the forest next door so our dogs woudn't hurt it. :D
@Elementl19 yea you're right!! it probably has to be attacked or have some major fear to play dead. i was cooing and giving it names lol not exactly predator behavior...
@irwinke Its an involuntary act, they have no control over it. You would need to start shaking it or get your dog out close to it. They also empty out their anal scent glands when they pass out, which is the real deterrent for the animals to leave them alone. So, making it pass out is not a good idea.
