sam didnt Like LPs and EPs he left so much Good material in the can and after the move to 639 madison there really was no more good stuff comming. The studios were modern the the Rockabilly sound had passed its prime. with the Down fall of Jerry Lee Lewis too much came tumbling down on my favorite musical label.
A bit of my heart went along with Roy when he past away,, the absolutely best voice in them years of rock´roll and ballads,,,,very few would match him. I miss him soo,,
why unissued ? Sam Philips had limited resources and was unable /unwilling to push all the stuff recorded at 706 Union hence much of the great recordings of Sonny . Warren Smith ,Billy Lee Riley etc remained in the can .
He also had a big ego which clashed with Smith , Riley & others
@HepKat59 just watched an interview with sonny where he mentions roy wrote this tune and sang the backup vocal, also he said that roy traveled with him for about 2 and a half years and never put a nickels worth of gas in the tank haha
