but she is very young on this videos. she must be at the age of 31 now.

wiki says shes born 1981. are there actual videos of her?

If she plays so good a this young age, then today she must be a "grandmaster".

  • always 45 degree tilt on the guitar?

  • She is truly a master

  • saw this first around 4 years ago.. out of the blue it came to me again.. she is an incredible technician..

  • Many guitarists can play this but she played it 100x better

  • she is brilliant

  • i have never seen anyone do that before 5:53-6:17.... how does she do that!

  • what in the world beginning at 9:35-10:00 I didnt know you could make snare drum noises with the guitar LOL

  • @Re4ormedClay -Those are called harmonics.

  • @bradyall No they're not! Those are picked notes!

  • @1990SanDimas nah what she does is she wraps the e string over the a string try it some time

  • kara quem achar defeito nisso me fala pq eu naum achei nenhum, simplismente perfect!

  • just perfect. any excellent comments can explain this song

  • Thumbs up, hands down

  • brilliant

  • maravilloso

  • Magnifique ! Cette guitariste est exceptionnelle !

  • You are the best guitarist ever!!!!

  • bateria en la guitarra esta mina si que es seca

  • She is incredible! Was guitar her first instrument?

  • How the hell does she make that harmonic like sound with just her left hand on 5.54... absolutely amazing

  • @12345Charles She does Left hand harmonics by putting her first finger on the string and she picks the string with her ring finger. It's a very nice technic indeed!

  • extremely well done Li Jie.....thumbs up....

  • The best version of Gran Jota on youtube

  • you r the pride of humanity -you r one to billions

  • harisukhoi. The robot theory has lost favor. Most now favor the angel theory.

  • you're no human Li jie..

  • My favorite performance by Li Jie. I believe this guitar is by Armin and Mario Gropp, Mario Gropp luthier (German).

  • 9:35...what´s that?? !!

  • great job, very elegant and immaculate execution of this legendary masterpiece, only criticism would be 4:35-5:00 seems contrasting to the romance of the rest of the interpretation. just imo

  • This girl was born to amaze....with amazing grace.

  • Another poem for a beatiful and excellent musician, full of sensitivity and sweetness!

" The fireplace with the flowers over,

    the english window blue-coloured,

the white blouse enveloped by black waistcoat,

    the skirt of red satin,

the classic guitar and your supreme ability,

the lovely face of clear girl

are the serene homage to sensitive life.

  • "Li Jie"

Magic girl, you paint absolute musical joy with your hands, and the guitar goes up in the more high world, while your pure and engrossed face gives serenity to who looks and hears you.

And the grateful heart breathes deep and unknown emotions for the uniqueness of your supreme entity.

    Mario Cicconetti

    Teramo (Italy) 24th April 2009

  • amazing..........right along with her hand sewn outfit......

  • the one handed thing was so freaking awesome. this piece is beautiful and perfectly played :)

  • and they say 'thank you'

  • she bows to these masterpieces of composition - we bow to the music - and tarrega, bach, paganini and all the others in heaven bow to her...

  • what was Tarrega thinking when he composed this... what a brilliant man... this piece has everything you can dream of... and Li Jie is flawless, i ve seen this video years ago and still everytime i see it i feel a chilling down my spine.. amazing

  • so so sooo beautiful

    just beautiful

  • i was gonna make this exact same video but li jie stole my thunder ;),i love all these li jie videos, tks for posting.

  • you should still post it..

  • i can do nothing on a whole day just by listening to this.

  • Compared to bowed string playing 5:20 is similar to col legno, where one uses the wooden part of the bow percussively to play notes.

  • The technique is called Tambora, using the side of the thumb to tap the strings. Another technique by the great Francisco Tarrega.

  • THIS IS JUST TOO AWESOME AND GODLY FOR A MERE MORTAL SUCH AS MYSELF

    GAAAAAHHHH

    *explodes*

  • That is a devilish composition. It has everything!

  • Yes, if some rasguedo was added, then it would have everything the guitar can play.

  • this is definitly the best guitar piece i've ever heard-she is soooo talented..

    5:50 one handed natural harmonics

    9:33 is very cool

  • Comment removed

  • you are obviously a guitar virtuoso. lets hear some of your tunes.

  • can anyone explain what she s doing at 5:20?

  • it looks like she s slamming her thumb length against the bridge of the guitar and doin hammer ons to get the melody, but thats impossible.

  • no try this its easy just do a chord and hammer on the sites

  • yes, she's using her thumb, rather than a plectrum as a percussive insrument across all six stings. similar to slapping/

  • I like the left hand only harmonics

  • No bad eh

  • LIE JIE is GOD .... no seriously, she is!!

  • man this is just so incredible. I've seen this vid more than 100 times and learned an awful lot about guitar since I first saw this and this is still just so amazing.

    If Tarrega were still alive...

I've heard quite a few versions of this and this is hands down the most delightful. There's a childlike happy essence in this song and her playing, even without seeing her carries that forward so clearly.

There are moments of maturity, but it does always come back to the beauty of youth.

    Sublime.

  • @eschelar

beautiful comment, I totally agree :)

  • @eschelar I agree! I am speechless!

  • Hello beauty queen, and forgive I, I made a grave error, it being said you are the queen on the musical plan(shot), in fact a miracle as doubtless had been it mozart at the appropriate time, compliments, jack

  • wow really small hands but she can use them pretty well when she's playing.

  • Li Jie isn't using a Ramirez but an ALMA guitar!

  • Vaya gracia y salero ! asi se toca la guitarra guapa ! from Spain.

  • idiot..00sven00sven00 ...the dude just said its a

  • its an acoustic guitar. i should know, i have TWO of them! yes im funny...

  • Comment removed

  • its a classical guitar, specifically a Rameriz :) its not acoustic, slight difference

  • HA! i knew someone would feel that they had to correct me, thanks for being that person! i think her teacher built that guitar though.

  • absolutely amazing

  • can anyone tell me what guitar she is playing here?

  • it's probably a custom guitar

  • Great!!!他に言葉が見つかりません。

    Li Jie!!最高!!!

  • man, 1:20-1:50

    awesome.

  • the guitar is so huge....

  • She was about 14 in thiv video

  • dummy she started at 11

  • dinlerken tüylerim diken diken oldu, perormans hakkında yorum yapmak saygısızlık olur..herşey ortada...

  • Gitarla sevişmek bu olsa gerek..Bi kerede hata yap be Allah'ın kulu.

  • Great technic!

But lacks a little bit in the movement forward i think. There's no dancing in this, and therefore it becomes boring to listen to. But beautifull frasing and sound.

  • I think so too.. But she's a fucking CHILD! And a GOD!! :O

    I love her!

  • I think that se's adult here. It's just difficult to see. :)

  • Nope! Try wiki'ing her! She really IS a goddang child! ;)

Altough, if your interested.. Try looking up Xuefei Yang too! I love her... ;)

  • Erm... did you just use "fucking" followed by "goddang"?

  • I'm I forever going to burn in hell for it? :'(

Altough, I'm very sorry for my misplaced use of "altough".. (in both comments..)

    Regards

    Smarterguy1992

  • You forgot the use of possessive "your" in place of the contraction "you're", but thank you for your apology.

  • Huh?

Never if I have done such a thing! -_-

    I don't do mistakes, baka..

  • Sentence Fragment (Consider Revising)

  • I'm going to strap you to a chair and forcingly feed you with cat's hair! AAARGH! -_-

Anywais.. Li Jie really rules! :O

  • If anyone can't play "1/2" close like her better STFU!!

  • she played perfectly, such a talent..

  • she became my idol when she was only 11 playing gran jota on tv

  • superb !!!

  • i cant believe this is true.....

    have you magic hands ?

i thimk : yes! you haveve very magic hands!!!

thanks for your music li ji

    juan mario, from argentina

  • Por momentos es brillante y por momentos es deficiente. Igualmente es una buena interpretación. La mejor interpretación de esta obra es la de Narciso Yepes. Es inigualable.

  • Hmmm. The left-hand pizz sounds odd. Kind of like a little music box.

  • 7:20 to 7:40 is what shredding started as =D Li Jie is one of the greatest classical players in the entire world. She plays with the stoicism that originally defined classical guitarists as technicians of the instrument and executes these songs almost flawlessly with extraordinary technique. Simply put, amazing.

  • I maintain that Paganini invented shredding, on the violin, at least.

  • yep :D

  • Paganini was a guitarist as well as a violinist. Is it possible he invented it on guitar, but it was too unknown an instrument, so he went on to do it with violin for public performance? Teehee, ok, probably not, but I can always dream it was on the guitar first.

  • Lol =D

  • wow amazing,

im glad your good at guitar :)

  • Wait a sec - if no one bothered to play pieces that are considered "too difficult "- we wouldn't have players. For example, I never thought I could play Recuerdos DLA but I kept at it and can play it quite well now. We musicians shouldn't be intimidated by "difficult" pieces - they should CHALLENGE us! Segovia was a snob anyway (shock - blasphemy)

  • great!

  • This is real classical guitar - eat your heart out Yngwie!

  • She really has the thecnique to make the piece work. As music the "Jota" isn't much, I-V-I gets boring rapidly. If only I could see Li Jie live!

  • Beethoven is 90% I-V-I - is he boring? Wagner uses the same chord for over 100 measures in a row in his ring cycle. Is that boring too?

She didn't play this piece as written. Nor with 19th cen. Spanish interperetation. I agree with toudou.

  • thanks a lot for your ideas. I totally agree with you, one can depreciate Beethoven considering his use of I-V-I, I understand that, but the compositional work is so genius that we only have to admire that, furthermore with a "so poor" basic material. Here, it is not the matter. Aegolius56, just listen to the clarinet concerto by Mozart (second movement)...a lot of I-V-I isn't it ?

  • Not a single word to say. This girl is beyond imagination.

  • purely magnificent

  • almost the same as mattrach's version :)

  • Beautifully done. That shows true disciplin. I love ALL types of guitar. But most people do not realise just how bloody hard it is to play this music. Apart from some flamenco stuff, classical (and some jazz) is INCREDIBLY hard to play. Even if someone doesn't like the music, they can appreciate the talent. I can't assume people's musical taste, but im sure those watching this would enjoy the technical side to "tico tico" by paco de lucia.

  • what a badass

  • Desde Argentina, una felicitación para Li Jie de alguien que ama a la guitarra

  • man....... i would give anything to play like that!

  • This is the world famous Li Jie winner of the the 2nd International Guitar Competition when she was just 17, enough said. Most people who appreciate Classical Guitar do not do it on You-Tube, this is from a VCD put here without permission.

  • 李潔很厲害阿!

  • There is no way anyone has shit against this video!

  • !!!!!wow!!!! AWESOME

  • "HE" is a SHE Goddamnit!!

    lolz

  • Her technique and interpretation are good. I like the way she plays. She is not "flashy" like other guitarists who just want to show off the pure technique (playing so fast and furious).

  • Thats just difference of styles.

  • This kind of music has to be played in the correct time you can`t do that in this kind of music, thats why its so hard to play and so beautyful. most of the "musicians" today don't apreciate this kind of music, they just want to play fast but thats just technique, classical music has a feeling. and this girl plays very well

  • I think those who find her interpretations lacking in emotion, are themselves lacking in sensitivity. Which isn't to say I don't admire their typing skills. I just hope that one day they're able to feel from more than the likes of bubblegum commercials.

  • Honestly, She is a distinguished talent particularly in term of technic. I wish she will be a world class guitarist in the future. By the way, I'd like to notice that the player is a girl, not a boy.

  • I think the lack of feeling is only in her expressions, and not in her sound. Compared to some of the others who have this song on youtube, I'd say that this version has much more feeling in the sound. The others tend to speed right through some sections, and they just sound strange after hearing how nice these sections sound in this one. I don't really care much about her body language if she sounds this good.

  • what's the name of the technique when she bangs the guitar kind of with her thumb or palm>

  • that is called the Tamburno.....
