@codyshmody Then you haven't seen many tow tests..... Check any tow test done between the GM Duramax and Ford Powerstroke engine. Duramax won each time, no matter which mag did it, and half the mags used the F450 instead of F350.
The Titans are good, reliable trucks, but if you have to haul anything, you should go with another truck, especially the 04-07 models. The new 08 Titans improved the axles a little bit, going from a 32 spline to a 35 spline, but the ring and pinion are the same size. 08 and up also offers bigger brakes. The axle ring and pinions are not nearly as strong as the other trucks because they are much smaller. What makes it a great offroad truck hinders it when towing.
nissan doesnt suck at making pickups u idiots the titan is one of the best 1/2 ton trucks out there its reliable, strong and from a company with expirience in heavy duty trucks such as nissan. and if u idiots are wondering what expirience well nissan has a side company called UD which are heavy duty diseal trucks. iv had my titan for 5 years and have had not 1 problem with it, it hauls everything i throw at it exactly like my ram
@mikelove2110 for sure it reliability its good, cmon man,its a nissan, but for sure every truck can pull, push, ect. but they don't have the same power or fuel savings,Toyota and GMC (or Chevrolet, which I don't know why they have both models, they're the same engine, this test is weird for my opinion)are in the top for me and this is coming from a Ram dude, because of the power, technology and fuel saving that they have, but for my opinion Nissan should not do trucks, except for the bigger diesel ones :D
americans...lol when its a draw between two cars doing the same thing 2:02 you chosen the silverador, for extra hp and torque, but a real smart person would have voted for the weaker car, because it performed the same result, useing less resource,( hp, torque) witch only means by logic that it uses its resources more effitiently, better way of putting the less power to the road....

@135yota I apologize. The Tundra was not the newer model Tundra that I drove. It was the older one and the only one that wasn't the newer body style. Otherwise I would rate them as Tundra, Titan, Sierra, Dodge and Ford last.

Ok so the Chevy just barely beat the Tundra because they were using a 6.2L in the Chevy and a 5.7L in the Tundra? Wow these guys are real smart. Wonder what kind of gas milage the Tundra 5.7 has compared to the 6.2L Chevy?
@ledzep112 I have a half ton 360 I know the dodge has more potential but with it's factory gears it's not putting the power to the road. Still right with the chevy and toyota. Put 4.10's in the ram problem solved.
i think its awesome that chevy has to use a 6.2 to outdue the 5.4. What is chevy going to do when the ford 6.2 with more hp and torque than chevys is dropped in the f150. I guess they will probably put the 427 in it lol
@blawilliams well the 5.3 chevy motor has more power than the 5.4 (315 vs 310) and the ford motor even has an extra valve per cylinder over the chevy, not to mention a bump in displacement. plus the chevys fuel mileage is better.
@drewglis that little extra hp is just through the computer. The 5.4 is the most restricted engine in any half-ton, until the 6.2 ford has never tried pumping alot of hp in their trucks. I know for a fact, with a chip and air intake,(my 06 f150 and my bro-in-law 08 5.3) and a dual, that the 5.4 adds more hp. The dyno showed almost 25 more hp and 35 lb ft. Now remember my 06 stock had only 300 to his 315, but i had more stock torque. 5.4 is a torque monster
Which one will still be going at 250,000 miles and with the least amount of problems. Thats what ya need to know. The rest is personal preference on style and features. When ya lay down your hard earned cash you want the most bang for the buck.
@dustman01 not the half ton trucks, and plus the new ford and dodge trucks got a major over haul and there is one for the HD silverado and sierra coming for 2011 models
all these tests about racing trucks up hill with 6500 lbs trailers is pssing me off its not about what truck goes the fastest or wins the race its about when you have 500 000 km on a 2004 f-150 5.4l driving off road in winter and driving 24 hours a day for 7 days a week ... thats whats it about.
i'm pretty sure that is for the 3/4 ton pickups. The 6.2L v8 is going to replace the v10. There isn't going to be any bigger motor option for the f-150, they are just changing up the 2011 f-250s. They are also coming out with a wicked new diesel motor that it very promising for ford fans like me.
dont get me wrong i love trucks and i believe not only the large displacement motors are a lot more reliable over all but have more power potential most V6s would have to be turbocharged to hang with a natraly aspirated V8 and a good old supercharged V8 will walk all over a V6 a 5.4 would need to be better tuned and more expensive generaly to have the same power as a 6.2 not talking trucks talking motors
these tests are so BS!!! tht it realy matter for a truck to go 0-60 fastest??/ its not a viper its a pick up truck... it should test how durable it is and quality and realiblty and how much it can tow.
its not a 0-60 test. the time refelects how powerful and the towing capabilities on a hill. hence the truck with the best load towing power makes it to the top first.
It not a junk motor, what are you talking about? Its a great engine. My buddy have 2007 F-150 and hes shipped all the big tractors parts to 48 states and his truck have 351,000 miles in very, very few minor problems, she still rolling!
This 5.4L V8 engine hardly get any problems......so this engine is the most reliable.
@juggernautxtr the 5.7 hemi does really well for its size you have to give it that, it can pull 10,000 pounds gets 20 mpg. what they can acomplish with that size of an motor is shocking compared to gm the need a bigger size to try to come close example the 5.7 has 390hp and 407pound ft of torque and the gm 6.0 V8 has 367hp and 375pound ft of torque.
@135yota the 6.1 has had 420hp since 2008 as i can remember and it may have had before then also, im not really sure about the 5.7 hemi i think it got upgraded to 390 in 2009
@judith3727 so what you telling me is the hemi will beat the 6.0 V8 but not the 5.3?
and also dodge isn't the best with transmissions so if they did throw in one more gear it would get beat and also im talking about true power without the transmission in this equation, I meant the hemi makes the 6.0 v8 look pathetic because the hemi put out more "power" and the 6.0 should put out more seeing how its a bigger engine.
@Totenhosen17 I thought it was the opposite, i,e. a harsher ride shouldn't be slower...I mean mechanically speaking when u have less movement it leads to less loss of energy and better translation of power....but the real life tests show it as u said
@homeboylx she is a chevy person have to let her think her way cause racing and towing are 2 differant things specially when it comes to a z-71 against a normal truck not built for speed.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
tundra sucks dodge has the best tow load it can tow the most tundra just fails i wouldnt trust its weak frame for shit silverado and sierra are the same thing so i dont really see how there could be a difference and the titan just sucks
Chevy's 6.2L has what they say like 410 horsepower? That's pretty good power, but pretty sad that the 5.7L Hemi for the '09 Ram 1500 puts out 390 hp and with a much bigger motor they only have a 20 hp advantage on it. The 6.1L SRT8 Hemi puts out 425 hp. 15 hp more with a smaller motor.
im saying that the corvette had to get a supercharger on it to compete with the Viper. if a Viper had the same supercharger on that V10 corvette's would be ashamed. the viper has lots of performance parts on the motor but it's just straight motor...no forced intake. so what were you trying to prove? that corvettes suck? well done.
it's more popular than the Viper because most are half the price. and with another 2 cylinders it would be the same as a Viper. and the z06 made 505 hp but that was about all those motors were good for without going to forced intake like a supercharger. so, bottom line, the Viper is better than the corvettes. they have more value also because corvette's are like assholes...everybody has one. you don't see too many viper's goin down the road.
@91rxl650 the 6.2 puts out 403hp, thats only 13 more hp they should have made it more around 410 like you were saying. I think the hemi is a better experience, you get 390hp and 407ft of torque you get 20 miles per gallon and can tow 10,000 pounds when fully equipped in that department plus the 6.2 really shouldn't be compared to because the 6.0V8 is more in it's competition range. even though it could compete if it had the transmission to back all its power
The ram might not have accelerated as fast, but in real life, it'll walk off and leave the others on the long grades and heavy pulls. Flat, tall torque curves are the secret.
everyone is bitching about the chevy having a 6.2 liter engine but all the did was take the best engine from each of them and the best ford has to offer is the 5.4 and toyotas best is the 5.7 liter so yeah
all the trucks, tundra excluded, are built well. However if the best of best is the chevy or GMC whichever you prefer. They have the best engine/transmission combination to deliver the necessary package in a truck. Ford and Doge mechanics have ALWAYS told me to buy the chevy truck.
raiderz111... didn't they say the chevys 6.2 liter was the only reason it beat the Yota!?!?!?.... the 6.2 has about 401hp... compared to the 381 of the tundra.!! Small potatoes I know... I'm not one of those deuche bags that post about how shitty one truck is over another.... but in long term reality, concerning fit and finish and reliability of a truck..... I cant happen to side with the Tundra!
@leroyslizzle amen to that, iv heard so many bad things about toyota. iv heard that they need to " mature " in their truck designing. tundras chassis's are garbage too.
One problem I see in the test. The horse power in the trucks were not equal. GM's 6.2 puts out much more horse power than any of the other trucks engines. None of the others are close to it's ratings .
Wrong. The Tundra puts out closer to its rating. Please come back after you've dynoed a Tundra. ;) The GM loses so much HP due to its parastic drivetrain and transmission.
@silverfox605 How is this not a true test? Obviously non will have equal horsepower or torque, If they all had the same amount there would be no competition. Anways the Tundra has much higher horsepower than the F-150, and the Silverado...not so sure about the new ram tho.
Stop being stupid and ignorant. How the hell do you expect there to be a similar motor for all the trucks? It is a true test because they are driving what the manufacturers are dishing out as the best trucks.
i think this is pointles imean oooo this truck is beter than that one it dosent mater it what u like and like i said it doesnt mater they all got the job done i just hapen to be a ford guy so i like ford
I dont see why they would see which truck is faster that is completely stupid in a way a truck is meant to pull heavy loads not to be an oversized camaro
@bassbuggy101 i know they aren't. i was just saying that of course the hemi isn't going to be great, the hemi wasn't built for towing power. The cummings diesel was. i
I wanna know why they didn't show the finish between the Tundra and Silverado. Looked like the Tundra was coming up the hill ahead in that short video clip. The Tundra probably did win but they couldn't have a jap Toyota beating a Chevy on GM's proving grounds.
let me drive the trucks i would drive them like i stole them instead of babying them like they did grow some balls people

What makes it a great offroad truck hinders it when towing.

thecrazywrestler 1 year ago
i think its awesome that chevy has to use a 6.2 to outdue the 5.4. What is chevy going to do when the ford 6.2 with more hp and torque than chevys is dropped in the f150. I guess they will probably put the 427 in it lol
blawilliams 1 year ago
@blawilliams well the 5.3 chevy motor has more power than the 5.4 (315 vs 310) and the ford motor even has an extra valve per cylinder over the chevy, not to mention a bump in displacement. plus the chevys fuel mileage is better.
drewglis 1 year ago
@drewglis that little extra hp is just through the computer. The 5.4 is the most restricted engine in any half-ton, until the 6.2 ford has never tried pumping alot of hp in their trucks. I know for a fact, with a chip and air intake,(my 06 f150 and my bro-in-law 08 5.3) and a dual, that the 5.4 adds more hp. The dyno showed almost 25 more hp and 35 lb ft. Now remember my 06 stock had only 300 to his 315, but i had more stock torque. 5.4 is a torque monster

all these tests about racing trucks up hill with 6500 lbs trailers is pssing me off its not about what truck goes the fastest or wins the race its about when you have 500 000 km on a 2004 f-150 5.4l driving off road in winter and driving 24 hours a day for 7 days a week ... thats whats it about.

@z28kindaguy it's about time they made a decent sized motor for one again... 330cubes just ain't cutting it in my opinion.
302Travis 1 year ago
i'm pretty sure that is for the 3/4 ton pickups. The 6.2L v8 is going to replace the v10. There isn't going to be any bigger motor option for the f-150, they are just changing up the 2011 f-250s. They are also coming out with a wicked new diesel motor that it very promising for ford fans like me.

dont get me wrong i love trucks and i believe not only the large displacement motors are a lot more reliable over all but have more power potential most V6s would have to be turbocharged to hang with a natraly aspirated V8 and a good old supercharged V8 will walk all over a V6 a 5.4 would need to be better tuned and more expensive generaly to have the same power as a 6.2 not talking trucks talking motors
tvrmjunkie 1 year ago
these tests are so BS!!! tht it realy matter for a truck to go 0-60 fastest??/ its not a viper its a pick up truck... it should test how durable it is and quality and realiblty and how much it can tow.
MHaQuE32 1 year ago 4
its not a 0-60 test. the time refelects how powerful and the towing capabilities on a hill. hence the truck with the best load towing power makes it to the top first.

It not a junk motor, what are you talking about? Its a great engine. My buddy have 2007 F-150 and hes shipped all the big tractors parts to 48 states and his truck have 351,000 miles in very, very few minor problems, she still rolling!
This 5.4L V8 engine hardly get any problems......so this engine is the most reliable.

question when won't a 6.2 liter beat a smaller 5.4 liter?
can you say not even equivalent?
juggernautxtr 1 year ago
A 5.3 liter chevy can beat a 5.4
judith3727 1 year ago 3
um therers a 6.2 liter engines in those trucks or did you not listen?
juggernautxtr 1 year ago
@juggernautxtr the 5.7 hemi does really well for its size you have to give it that, it can pull 10,000 pounds gets 20 mpg. what they can acomplish with that size of an motor is shocking compared to gm the need a bigger size to try to come close example the 5.7 has 390hp and 407pound ft of torque and the gm 6.0 V8 has 367hp and 375pound ft of torque.
homeboylx 1 year ago
@homeboylx the 5.7 has 340hp and the 6.1 hemi has 390. but u right about the gm
135yota 1 year ago
@135yota the 6.1 has had 420hp since 2008 as i can remember and it may have had before then also, im not really sure about the 5.7 hemi i think it got upgraded to 390 in 2009
homeboylx 1 year ago
@judith3727 and a 5.7 hemi can beat a vortec 6.0
homeboylx 1 year ago
yea but the 5.3 can still beat the 5.7 hemi. Not on paper but in the real world... O yes it can. 5.3 6 speed tears it up
judith3727 1 year ago
@judith3727 so what you telling me is the hemi will beat the 6.0 V8 but not the 5.3?
and also dodge isn't the best with transmissions so if they did throw in one more gear it would get beat and also im talking about true power without the transmission in this equation, I meant the hemi makes the 6.0 v8 look pathetic because the hemi put out more "power" and the 6.0 should put out more seeing how its a bigger engine.
homeboylx 1 year ago
yea but the dodge hasnt done it so that leaves chevy winning. i havent had no dodge hemi 2wd beat me in my 5.3 6 speed z-71 to this day. both stock
judith3727 1 year ago
@judith3727 the stock might have different specs with the drive train etc
homeboylx 1 year ago
@judith3727 Any clue why is the Silverado faster that the Sierra?? is it the weight? or do they use different differentials?
ssj02 1 year ago
@ssj02 Stiffer shocks in the sierra make for a worse launch than the silverado.
Totenhosen17 1 year ago
@Totenhosen17 I thought it was the opposite, i,e. a harsher ride shouldn't be slower...I mean mechanically speaking when u have less movement it leads to less loss of energy and better translation of power....but the real life tests show it as u said
ssj02 1 year ago
@judith3727 well duh! if its a manual against an automatic... manual has it... that dodge ram probally wasnt the best model either.
TheJoecool1972 1 year ago
@homeboylx she is a chevy person have to let her think her way cause racing and towing are 2 differant things specially when it comes to a z-71 against a normal truck not built for speed.
juggernautxtr 1 year ago
@juggernautxtr Yeah, im like chrysler better because most of the chevy vehicles we had were shit and our dodge ram 2008 is awesome.

15 hp more with a smaller motor.

im saying that the corvette had to get a supercharger on it to compete with the Viper. if a Viper had the same supercharger on that V10 corvette's would be ashamed. the viper has lots of performance parts on the motor but it's just straight motor...no forced intake. so what were you trying to prove? that corvettes suck? well done.

nachos1990 2 years ago
z06 is a 7.0 small block...zr1 has the smaller engine and it is a sbc as well
sar32386 2 years ago
it's more popular than the Viper because most are half the price. and with another 2 cylinders it would be the same as a Viper. and the z06 made 505 hp but that was about all those motors were good for without going to forced intake like a supercharger. so, bottom line, the Viper is better than the corvettes. they have more value also because corvette's are like assholes...everybody has one. you don't see too many viper's goin down the road.

91rxl650 2 years ago
@nachos1990 The z06 has a 7.0L engine.
dvldogg01 2 years ago
@91rxl650 the 6.2 puts out 403hp, thats only 13 more hp they should have made it more around 410 like you were saying. I think the hemi is a better experience, you get 390hp and 407ft of torque you get 20 miles per gallon and can tow 10,000 pounds when fully equipped in that department plus the 6.2 really shouldn't be compared to because the 6.0V8 is more in it's competition range. even though it could compete if it had the transmission to back all its power
homeboylx 1 year ago
Thank you for understanding my point and not trying to argue and disagree with me because it isn't something you wanted to hear.
91rxl650 1 year ago
The ram might not have accelerated as fast, but in real life, it'll walk off and leave the others on the long grades and heavy pulls. Flat, tall torque curves are the secret.

everyone is bitching about the chevy having a 6.2 liter engine but all the did was take the best engine from each of them and the best ford has to offer is the 5.4 and toyotas best is the 5.7 liter so yeah
sayer308 2 years ago
all the trucks, tundra excluded, are built well. However if the best of best is the chevy or GMC whichever you prefer. They have the best engine/transmission combination to deliver the necessary package in a truck. Ford and Doge mechanics have ALWAYS told me to buy the chevy truck.
rowerybo 2 years ago
100% agreed
sayer308 2 years ago
raiderz111... didn't they say the chevys 6.2 liter was the only reason it beat the Yota!?!?!?.... the 6.2 has about 401hp... compared to the 381 of the tundra.!! Small potatoes I know... I'm not one of those deuche bags that post about how shitty one truck is over another.... but in long term reality, concerning fit and finish and reliability of a truck..... I cant happen to side with the Tundra!
leroyslizzle 2 years ago
@leroyslizzle amen to that, iv heard so many bad things about toyota. iv heard that they need to " mature " in their truck designing. tundras chassis's are garbage too.
87stocker 2 years ago
One problem I see in the test. The horse power in the trucks were not equal. GM's 6.2 puts out much more horse power than any of the other trucks engines. None of the others are close to it's ratings .
silverfox605 2 years ago
Wrong. The Tundra puts out closer to its rating. Please come back after you've dynoed a Tundra. ;) The GM loses so much HP due to its parastic drivetrain and transmission.
Sanosuke004 2 years ago
@Sanosuke004 Yes but my point is none of the trucks are equal in horse power or torque. Some are close but NONE ARE THE SAME! Not a true test.
silverfox605 2 years ago
@silverfox605 How is this not a true test? Obviously non will have equal horsepower or torque, If they all had the same amount there would be no competition. Anways the Tundra has much higher horsepower than the F-150, and the Silverado...not so sure about the new ram tho.
raiderz111 2 years ago
Stop being stupid and ignorant. How the hell do you expect there to be a similar motor for all the trucks? It is a true test because they are driving what the manufacturers are dishing out as the best trucks.

I wanna know why they didn't show the finish between the Tundra and Silverado. Looked like the Tundra was coming up the hill ahead in that short video clip. The Tundra probably did win but they couldn't have a jap Toyota beating a Chevy on GM's proving grounds.
