Please, I ask more of this: Lord of the Rings:60's,70's,80's, & 90's. Some trivia for you: The Beatles considered making a version of LOTR. And director Stanley Kubrick juggled the idea of his version.
Tolkien is the inspiration of my book and my mentor in dark time of rejection (when I do try to put it out there) When you have rejection you most likely have a great book!
Interesting stuff! The jazz music in the background makes you aware in what sort of post-war world LOTR burst on the scene, and how utterly strange it must have seemed...
I especially like the slap-down Harold Bloom gets from Philip Toynbee. A long time coming, except for the words Bloom must now be eating considering LOTR's monumental success in literature and cinema. Pompous is as pompous does!
wow i hope that guy quites smoking cigars, his lungs seem pretty shot to me. Great docu!

Bloom is right. What does LOTR's popularity have anything to do with anything? Bloom asserts it's aesthetically feeble, which it is, not unpopular.

It's part of a documentary called, "Ringers: Lord of the Fans." It should be available at your local Blockbuster. Go rent it, you'll love it :)
