I am an overseas Greek-Cypriot born and living in the UK.
I remember watching this at the time, when that little girl says "I hope to see you again, Kali Antamosi" then blew the flame out, my heart broke and I burst into tears. does anyone know the name of the little girl on the ballon at the 2004 olympic closing ceremory? I;m trying to find out if she was again in the opening ceremory of the Beijing 2008 games, but I;m having no luck.
it is kinda sad, but i understand you Eohmer, greece is responsible for the olympiads and thats why every parade of nations its first. you're english wasnt bad it was really good.

i agree too.Greece should host the olympics forever-as everything started from here-but there are plenty cities of Greece that could host them as well, such as Thessaloniki,i wish but im ok just with Athens..or we could have the olympics every 8/12 years..or have all the preolympic tournaments..i just wonna have what i own..if youre not Greeks you cant understand..when they came BACK in their motherland although i was only 11,5years old,i was so moved-happy that i had the chance to see them back
Man, it is hard to say which Olympics was the best. I'm only 19 (b. 1989) and I love Olympic festivities. My faves are Atlanta, Los Angeles, Sydney, Salt Lake, and this one Athens.
..the torch was met by the Nazis but the idea of the burning fire throughout the Games comes from ancient Greece.not everything the Nazis did was awful.
GeoArabas: Oh,Iam sorry. I guess I am missing the point that the games were used by Hitler to lure exactly the same kind of people like yourself....naiv idiots who thought "its not all bad...as long as I am not the one burning in Auschwitz"....
What a scumm! Millions upon millions were spent without any control. 99% of the Olympic constructions are dying away. This was an economic crime not games.
you are disguasting! IT WAS OUR HONOUR TO HOST THE OLYMPICS! AND YES,I WISH THE OLYMPICS WERE ALWAYS HOSTED IN ATHENS! GREECE IS THE ORIGINAL COUNTRY OF THEM ANYWAY..ancient Greeks..remember them lot?

What on earth this has got to do with Ancient Greece? You challenge me to remember -- I challenge you to remember the prizes
I hope your harshness will be the same when this scandal comes to surface along with the 1000 others of the last 25 years -- I am not antiGreek or antiOlympic I am antiThieving of public money!
no,really, you are just a fool! gymnastics came fro mthe ancient greeks u moron! what? didnt ya learn that at school??? everyyyyththhinnnngg came from the ancient Greeks so thats why im combining the olympic with the anients!

i agree too.Greece should host the olympics forever-as everything started from here-but there are plenty cities of Greece that could host them as well, such as Thessaloniki,i wish but im ok just with Athens..or we could have the olympics every 8/12 years..or have all the preolympic tournaments..i just wonna have what i own..if youre not Greeks you cant understand..when they came BACK in their motherland although i was only 11,5years old,i was so moved-happy that i had the chance to see them back

Man, it is hard to say which Olympics was the best. I'm only 19 (b. 1989) and I love Olympic festivities. My faves are Atlanta, Los Angeles, Sydney, Salt Lake, and this one Athens.
Well done Athens. Well done!!!

yeah...who would have thought that the olypic torch was an invention by Hitler and not the ancient greeks? Propaganda at its best.
Tryandc 3 years ago
..the torch was met by the Nazis but the idea of the burning fire throughout the Games comes from ancient Greece.not everything the Nazis did was awful.
do not be biased.

79wx9z 3 years ago
an economic crime it is but it is a tradition that we must honor.

We? Who's We?
Who ever got paid, let him honor it
Crimes must be punished, not honored

I hope your harshness will be the same when this scandal comes to surface along with the 1000 others of the last 25 years -- I am not antiGreek or antiOlympic I am antiThieving of public money!
