E74 is casued by the GPU solders coming off the GPU (or CPU in rare cases)

I had one red light come on my elite the other day. It had E74 error on the screen. I called xbox and they said if it's 1 or 3 lights they will fix for free as they have extended the warranty to 3 years on 1 and 3 red lights. I'm in the UK. Mine left for Germany this morning to get fixed.

My elite is 2 years old.

I tried that. That wasn't the problem. Anyway, I have a new 360 now.

CHECK SIGNAL CABLE!!!! Reconnect the HDMI or whatever you use!!!

it happened 2 me 2.... i figured out that if you take off the cable that goes 2 the tv the red light wont show but if you put it in again it will show

take a few towels, and wrap them around your xbox so it can overheat, then the fan should shut off and you should get two red rings. then just turn off your console, wait 2-4 minutes and

turn it on again

p.s. TAKE OFF YOUR HARD DRIVE FIRST AND THEN TAKE OFF THE VIDEO CABLE BEFORE WRAPPING IT IN A TOWEL OR TWO AND AFTER YOU TURN IT ON.

nope. wrong. put 2 q-tips in ur xbox's fan. dont push them in 2 far. ur console shud overheat in 30-40 secs. unplug the console, take out the q-tips and it SHOULD WORK.

For everyone watching thsi dont put your xbox 360 in that place it will over heat FAST! so dont put it in like a close space heres when im doing im puting my xbox 360 on top of my 360 case and I open a couple of the sides and when it gets hot the heat gos in the box insted it rocks no red ring of death for me
