  • People use different things to cope with things. Some people use religion. some people use sex. some people use drugs. People just cope with things differently. I guess thats why people do drugs.

  • Back when he had a full set of teeth

  • You know what's ironic? He made them "as big as Aerosmith", still you gotta love him for that :)

  • This dude looks like death, and demons. I can't believe he's the guy who made some of my favorite songs.

  • I cant watch this... But Im really glad he quit but why the hell would he do heroin in the first place!?!?

  • I can't believe it's Frusciante.....

  • wow, this guy look like shit!

  • what's the song at 1:06

  • @theberto Turn around in a circle

  • @pivovinorakija thanks man!!

  • @theberto see description...

  • Comment removed

  • ...and i thought i had bad teeth

  • @heroinhero69

He needed to pull them all off when he was in rehab... -.- poor guy

  • @heroinhero69 he actually had nice teeth but when he started doing heroin he destroyed his face

  • Damn, this was hard to watch. Shed a couple tears :'(

  • i'm glad to see that he pulled out of this state of mind and existence

  • Heroin is bad. Thumbs up for John and everyone else who was able to quit and still be alive.

  • This is a very powerful thing to watch, I feel so sorry for him being in such a state, it brought some certainly interesting music out of it, but earlier in the first part where he plays part of a song, man... that was mad.

  • People, this is DEFINITELY John Frusciante. Yes, it's hard to believe but it really is him. From '92 - '97 he was basically a mess and because of this he lost his teeth, lost a lot of vintage guitars and many other posessions because of a housefire and at one point nearly lost his life due to having a blood infection from drug usage. Thank God he cleared himself up and went on to make even more amazing music.

  • That's not John WTF

  • @swi58ch yes it is when he was a heroin addict like almost 20 years ago.

  • He's just fucked out of his tree... its shocking you look at him now then there jesus.

  • john=pure...figure it out

  • his teeth..

  • @ollierodgers1 he lost all of his teeth being a drug addict and he has implants at the moment

  • For everyone who doubt this is John: This program was broadcast on a Dutch channel that is funded by the Dutch government. The channel is known for their authenticity and quality programs. So yes, unfortionatly there is a 99,99% chance that this is John Frusciante.

  • @rottemandarijn It's a 100.00% chance that it is him. It was either him or kiedis that talked about this video, but sadly this was him back then. I'm happy he is how he is now.

  • @redpaul79 I think he was saying diary-ing

Lol although I can see where you get that

  • Wonder if that a John Frusciante painting against the wall or another artist? Any one know? It's definitely has his style/influence.

  • He looks so bad back then...

  • HEROIN BITCHES

  • lool..diaree - music

  • so shocking to see how the ones we call gods loose into drugs like any normal human being else

  • "diarrhea-ing"--what a coinage...

  • hes one complex human being

  • This is the reality of smack-dead eyes, sunken cheeks, skin looking awful....

  • PLease tell me when this interview was shot

  • so many of these comments are fucking retarded.

  • tell me who it is !!!!????? This is the guitarist ret hot chili peppers? a ruined and wasted? He barely alive what happened to him is because I do not understand ????? When the film was shot ??????????????????

  • @stones441 I don't know when this interview was taken. My guess is the mid 90s. This is John Frusciante. He was the Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist for Mother's Milk, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication, By the Way, and Stadium Arcadium. He quit abruptly during the Blood Sugar Sex Magik tour. As you can tell, he had a serious drug problem. I've read that he saw Flea would get stoned, so it inspired John to follow. Now John got his teeth fixed and has multiple solo records. He's much better

  • @BlastFromYesterday somebody's been reading wikipedia

  • @stones441

this is john in the mid 90's, he was super addicted to herione

  • @stones441 OMG

  • 'to be here you first got to die, so I gave it a try'

Seeing this and then something that's more present makes me incredibly amazed to see he pulled through!

You're the most inspiring guitarist in the world to me John! <3

  • look at those pearly white teeth shine.

  • Nice teeths! 0:50

  • You have to die a few times before you can really live.

  • this is not john. this is a wrack!

  • @nicccccce I was totally joking my friend. Somebody, somewhere knows I am sure.

  • @bigbluezuk Oh well i could see him naming one of his songs that lol

  • this isn't John Frusciante

  • he`s so high that the camera fucks up..

  • this is so fucking painful to even look at...

  • I could write a song with his smile at 0:50

  • The interviewer is practically treating him like a crazy, yet little kid. It's sad. And John didn't hate Anthony. They were both just afraid that the other hated them. Like Anthony wrote the song Gong Li about John. "Some people say you hate me/I don't believe it's true, things that you're going through"

  • i felt like i was diharieeing all over my art

  • he looks a little like roger waters here

  • Has anyone else noticed that both parts of this interview are of length 4:20

    I love you john

  • wow john was really mad with anthony that time

  • falling from grace inspires later on because you can look back on all the junked up times and remember the strength you had pulling away from it. He wouldnt be much of a guitar player now if he was still like this, he would be 6 feet under

  • thats arrogant, its not for the heroin for his musicianship. he was already a beautiful player, a real musician doesn't need something to -if you will, "alter" or stupidly say "expand" his way of thinking. whats changed his playing is the experience in his life (excluding this era of time) he's grown up now, not a 20 some odd year old kid gettin down on the funk all the time

  • more specifically 3:52. I know all he says is Anthony, but it sounds familiar.

  • @zeppelin27901 funky monks

  • @zeppelin27901

you are probably thinking of 'Angie' by the rolling stones? haha

  • @zeppelin27901 It's "Angie" from the Rolling Stones. I thought that part was funny!

  • What the name of the song at the last 27 seconds? Anyone that can respond please do. Much obliged

  • its just crazy how hes managed to reform his life and become waaay better since this even tho if it wernt for heroin he might not be as great now but c'mon HES GOD

  • john frusciante, a pure soul, best guitarist from the Hendrix school.

  • god he really doesn't look good in this video.

  • that weird white static shit is tripping me out...especially at 3:25

  • all these videos are 420 lol lol.

  • i am willing to bet that John cant watch this kinda stuff with breaking down anymore

  • @disturbedrocks1996 what do u mean anymore, r u saying when he first saw this he didnt care? just curious

  • @disturbedrocks1996 i'd bet you. he's said he is grateful for going through that period of time. i think he would feel strong after watching what he's left behind. he's grown a lot! he is more mature, and less insecure. just wish he would entertain us more these days...

  • @disturbedrocks1996 I think it's very possible that he has NEVER watched this video, I cant imagine him wanting to return his thoughts to this time...

  • what's the song at @1:04

  • It hurts me so much to think this was where he was at. I cant bear to listen to the music, its terrible. So much love for him, he got through it and is an all time great

  • heroin made me what I am today....a stupid broke junkie

  • wow hes messed up

  • wow, seriously cracked out

  • i wonder how hes still alive

  • he looks terrible

  • who is this?????????? ( i k who it is but this cant be frusciante)

  • should of just stayed with the weed john. Also its sucks how differant his singing is after he got his teeth replaced, which i just notice while watching him in the amsterdam vids.

  • could someone tell me that last song he and anthony play is at the last 30 seconds or so\?

  • he looks too much like edward scissor hands.

  • shit man heroins such a seedy sinister dark tragic drug, who would think that he knew how fucked he looked and would be too ashamed or paranoid to let a camera crew come and interview him . that scrap book is more revealin of how fucked his mind was more so than his appearance i think.. it is fascinatin thow how heroin takes over a persons life seemingly like no other drug even crack and meth .heroins the most evil there is i think ..ide love to experience it but only if i knew i could get back

  • @stormchasers25 I agree with you! The feeling of heroin seems like it's the BEST feeling in the world, but I wouldn't touch it in my right mind... maybe if I was terminally ill.

  • sad.

  • Does anyone kno wat the song that comes on at 1:04 is? Or if theres even a name or recording of it?

  • @Niccccccce Yah, its "heroin man bangs guitar and moans".

  • @bigbluezuk I kno this is a verrrrrry late reply to what i asked but do you have a way that i can listen to that full song? I tried to look it up on here but i couldnt find it

  • something about John at this point reminds me so much of Syd Barrett,i guess it's obvious in some ways but he mirrors Syd on so many levels here.

  • john's fucking sexy in a strange kind of way.

  • Comment removed

  • @Unremarkable1000 your wierd

  • @Unremarkable1000 The Pete Doherty effect....

  • @Unremarkable1000 Not here he isn't.

  • @Unremarkable1000 your a fucking nasty ass bitch

  • @47turpin47 your a bitch ass nasty fucker.

  • god is good! what a turn around.

  • lololol oo there are more and they all got it on 4:20 hell yeah

  • fucken heroin is cool man

  • @fillupski2969 are you for real?

  • Being the regular Messiah that John Frusciante is to many people in his generation, he was born again. This guy is not today's John. As he says in 'Today', today's John was sleeping while this guy was doing this, and he learned his lessons.

    Thank the heavens for JF.

  • One of the strangest interviews of a musician of all time.

  • Puno hvala!

  • This is painful to watch :/

  • that's one set of fucked up teeth

  • I wasn't saying that they should give up on being his friend but in bands you have to put the music before everything else. It's also the fact he didn't want to be ithe band at that stage as well. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Frusciante fan and also believe in loyalty to your friends.

  • Drug addiction is a scary thing. If I was in the Chilis then I would of been pretty happy he quit.

  • @dguyiop8

he was their friend and was an addict you can't give up on your friends

  • When i looked at the picture for this video i was like thats john????? Wowwww.....

  • i visited john a few times in his heroin years and he was bad he smelt like dead people he was a mess... felt sorry for him in someways...

  • brush your teeth

  • @bschoe2 kinda hard when you're only priority was how you could get a needle stuck in your arm as quick as possible.

  • I'm really pissed that he quit the band again, but I'm so happy he isn't like this anymore.

  • John was so fucked up on his drugs. Music wouldn't be the same without RHCP. and RHCP would be the same without John. and hs music wouldn't be the same without all the fucked up drugs he toook. it ws bad. but made him better.

  • dude he doesnt look anything like himself. he is trung the fuck out. glad he got of that shit.

  • fucking amazing!!!!!!!! he looks AWESOME here!!!!!! love john!!

  • @VH5150MetallicaFan awesome??? he is a dead who speaks

  • @VH5150MetallicaFan are you fucking kidding me? he looks like shit...

  • @VH5150MetallicaFan Awesome? Are you drunk or something? He looks like a walkining corpse! He was dying!

  • whaat velvet song is that

  • "I feel like when you speak about things, you diarrhea all over them". I like that quote.

  • whats the name of the last song?

  • thats horrible..im so glad he recoverd from this

  • "Anthonyyy.... aaaaaaaaaanthony" lol

  • this is john Oo

  • ..........oh John

  • wow he looks sooo fucked up and cracked out in comparison to what he looks like now days.

  • holy shit hes drugged out. glad he got clean

  • diarrhea all over that art XD

  • he looks like the strokes front man here!

  • Good for him he quit you can just tell by looking at him if he didn't stop he was a dead man walking.

  • i am afraid of him

  • john was soul searching. although his guitar may be outta tune its pure, expressive music and although he doesnt look healthy hes a beautiful sad happy person

  • i believe that this is one of the few youtube comment walls upon which i agree with upwards of 90% of the statements made....i like all you people, but more importantly, i love John Frusciante.

  • In a sick, twisted way Frusciante wouldn't be the musician he is today if it weren't for heroin.

True, he pulled himself together all by himself, but that progress would have never occurred had it not been for his addiction.

Miraculously, heroin worked out just fine for Frusciante.

  • how does that work? can't you see what drugs did to him in that vidio where watching? seriosly.

its cool RHCP are clean and anti drugs (if u dont belive me i read it on the world tour they did in kerang) i really respect them for it.

  • i get what he means... like in Anthony keidis' biography he sed if he could go back he wouldn't change his history of drugs... it affects the person you are and your beliefs just like all the things in ur past in general

  • yeh you can see what drugs did to him but i bet he wouldnt trade his experiences for anything

  • @dmonkeyland That is actually so fucking true...

  • @dmonkeyland are you kidding me?? You must know nothing about drug addiction....he turned to shit because of it...and anyone would,,,,I DID....nothing good ever came from drug addiction.....he left the chili peppers because he was consumed by his addiction....if he would never have gotten hooked he would have been great alot sooner...

  • no if he never did drugs he might have never been able to come back from it like he did and have the energy to make all those new records, u know what i mean like he might have just faded away.

  • @dmonkeyland What an assinine comment. Look at this guy. Yeah, it was all worth it man!! Give me one reason why deadening your mind to this degree would help a person.

  • @202pdiddy

Obviously not on purpose, jackass. You'd have to posses unnatural talent (Iike Frusciante does) and have an insatiable thirst for artistic expansion. Heroine kills - that's the end of it...

Hence the phrase, "miraculously, heroin worked out just fine for Frusciante." That's M-I-R-A-C-U-L-O-U-S-L-Y. Now, why don't you go play with your wiener or somethin'

  • @202pdiddy Musical expansion. If you caught anything John said in this interview, you wouldn't be questioning.

See, he went through a horrible struggle. If you're downgrading the use of drugs for musical expansion, you're indirectly discrediting Fruscinate's experience. See, HE IS THE ARTIST, NOT US.

So why don't you shut your mouth and open up your ears, since we would never be strong enough to overcome this. Embrace his struggle. He's great, not us.

  • @dmonkeyland You wrote, "Miraculously, heroin worked out just fine for Frusciante." Um, this video is proof that heroin DIDN'T work out for John Frusciante. To say there is a cause and effect relationship between his addiction and success is romanticizing substance abuse - which is likely part of why Frusciante got to this point in the video.

  • @202pdiddy I agree, there's a cause and effect relationship from him QUITTING heroin, and his musical talents today.

  • @202pdiddy John said that when he was quiting he heard some voces telling him something like: ,, You won't make it during the tour. You must go now''. He was probably halucinating, don't you think? Heroin...that's worse than being cursed...!

  • that because you cant say who he would be without the drugs because it never happened duh!

  • @dmonkeyland utter bs.

  • @dmonkeyland i dont think so. look at him

  • @dmonkeyland i wouldnt say just fine, lol.I mean he's alive and healthy now,but Im sure the coke, crack and heroin has taken its toll on his heart, lungs, and brain.I mean,he's a musical genious now,but Ive youve ever seen his interviews recently,he seems to have a hard time thinking of what to say,and he stutters.but still,he's the froosh, and therefore,a god. haha

  • @dmonkeyland you must be really careful in saying such things but i think you are right. the music he made wouldn't exist today without drugs. but i think that he might be a dangerous idol for many young musicians because his story and his person tells a very "good" side of drugs: his music...

  • @dmonkeyland He didnt pull himself together all by himself, he had many friends around him and thankfully checked into rehab before he killed himself !

  • Frusciante would be a BETTER musician than he is today if it weren't for heroin. There's nothing creative, artistic, or technical about being a junkie...

  • @tdittyx2x3 Material. Drugs open a creative window in the mind, whether you choose to believe it or not. I don't like them, I don't advocate their use, but I do agree that they have a duality of demise and creativity.

  • @dmonkeyland i wouldnt go that far, i mean he will never be the same again, he was always a beautiful person but he lost something in himself, like a dimension of himself, the power he had in mothers milk and bssm, its like he lost the power and gained peace

  • @Clayguy101 yea i always thought that john wasnt writing music he wanted to write in Mother's Milk and BSSM, it was anthony who wanted to write that music. than in californication and stadium arcadium he started to write and play how he wanted to.

  • @7h3tSLDR02 if he didnt want to write it he wouldnt of done he loved the music just not the fame that came with it

  • @Clayguy101 Wooooooow, that was perfect!

  • @dmonkeyland thanks dude

  • @dmonkeyland i get what youre saying. a lot of artists express themselves because of the pain they have been through. john was a genius when he joined the band. he had to fight against addiction to be the great musician he is. i think he had pain but he buried it in drugs instead of music. getting rid of drugs helped him put his pain into music. do you know what i mean?

  • @dmonkeyland who are you to say that? how do you think he felt, i think he juuust might disagree with you there. but at least youre happy about it

  • That is one huge great massive understatement my dear...

  • its sad how junkies think their acting normal.

  • @xPhantomPoopx define normal.. it doesn't exist..

  • "I could insult people"

I don't think it's hard to believe it's him.... maybe not the nowadays john but .... you know john when he entered the band and in the boat and all.

makes me feel sad but...still I'm mostly impressed that he got out of it.

  • wow. drugs fuck you up so bad. just look at this guy. thank the lord he pulled through cause i love frusciante.

  • imagine the world today without john frusciante. really just wouldnt make sense

  • what was the problem with him and anthony?

dude....this cares the shit out of me...

  • dont abuse of drugs.....is like anything right, to abuse is bad
