Les Luthiers (Argentina) borrowed the music of this song for their song: 'Oi Gadoñaya', which is not written in russian, but in a skillfully written spanish in order to make it sound like russian!
Thank you so much for this upload. What a great opportunity to see my grandfather Olexander Nedilko (0:34) like never before, - not on photos, but performing live. ( I have never met, - he died before I was able to move to the States).
Very enjoyable group of performers! I was fortunate enough to see them on tour years ago......what a privilege that was! Having grown up in the slavic communities of
@vermsiggi My grandfather had a dramatic tenor. Before escaping the Soviet Union-coming to the US and joining Serge Zharoff choir he used to be a leading singer at the Kharkiv Opera (Ukraine).
I do not have a scanned headshot of him, but in this clip he can be seen every time the soloist is shown.
@valma73 Did you know that that when German was defeated the USA and the other allies betrayed the Don Cossacks and handed 15.000 Don Cossack soldiers, women and children to the butchers of Stalin? Try looking up the betrayal of the Don Cossacks and operation keelhaul.
Who knows the names of the "unknown members" ?
