  • Who knows the names of the "unknown members" ?

  • Les Luthiers (Argentina) borrowed the music of this song for their song: 'Oi Gadoñaya', which is not written in russian, but in a skillfully written spanish in order to make it sound like russian!

  • What a song! - one of my fondest memory of my childhood and my Dad. He loved this song and the Don Kosaken Choir.

  • thanks for this! My father is singing forever on! A real treasure to me.!

I wonder where this video movie was filmed. Was it in Canada?

  • @roykoroman

The movie was filmed 1955 in Germany

The title of this movie is "Ja ja , die Liebe in Tirol "

your father Alexander Royko had a brilliant tenor voice , and was soloist under Serge Jaroff

Can you tell me the birthday and year of death ?

  • @vermsiggi

Oles, as my mother called him , was born March 27 1912 in the Ukraine and has passed on August 20, 1993.

  • @roykoroman

There exists an great website about the famous Don Cossack Chorus Serge Jaroff

    Search in google: russian-records bernikov

There is also a portrait-picture from A.Royko in the members page

If they have a sharper picture (jpg) have, please email me => T89275@t-online.de. It will appear on this website.

  • Thank you so much for this upload. What a great opportunity to see my grandfather Olexander Nedilko (0:34) like never before, - not on photos, but performing live. ( I have never met, - he died before I was able to move to the States).

  • Wonderful!

  • I love the combination of joy, discipline and pure vocals in Serge Jaroff's men. Bravo!

  • THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS. I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR IT. HEARD IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 1956 OFF A LONG PLAYING RECORD.

  • Very enjoyable group of performers! I was fortunate enough to see them on tour years ago......what a privilege that was! Having grown up in the slavic communities of

Chicago, I really appreciate this music.

  • Вот это голос у солиста!

  • @vermsiggi My grndfather Olexander Nedilko appears on 0:34 scene right next to the solist

  • @valma73

Was his voice a lower/higher tenor or baritone ?

? Can you send me a sharp headshot by email ?

  • @vermsiggi My grandfather had a dramatic tenor. Before escaping the Soviet Union-coming to the US and joining Serge Zharoff choir he used to be a leading singer at the Kharkiv Opera (Ukraine).

I do not have a scanned headshot of him, but in this clip he can be seen every time the soloist is shown.

  • @valma73 Did you know that that when German was defeated the USA and the other allies betrayed the Don Cossacks and handed 15.000 Don Cossack soldiers, women and children to the butchers of Stalin? Try looking up the betrayal of the Don Cossacks and operation keelhaul.

  • @wijse Not just Don Cossacks. Also Kuban Cossacks, Terek Cossacks and others.
