  • I think the first music I remember hearing as a child in the 70s includes Judy. My mother was a huge fan and I became a fan too. This song slays me, I've seen the version with her and Cohen, which is nice but kind of dead and flat. Judy is kind of like the other Judy (Garland), her voice just conveys giant waves of emotion. Love this vid.

  • simply beautiful

  • I listen to this and am transported to another place and time, in the recesses of my mind, where voices hauntingly echo across the years.

  • Somehow this works better than when her voice was young and perfect. It's still beautiful but in a very different way. Gives me chills.

  • Unbelievable

  • Beautiful and magical as always. I have been fortunate to see Judy in concert several times. Such talent!

  • happy birthday judy!!

  • Stunning. Judy's voice never fades, never. Judy, have you thought of putting to music all of those favorites of ours or yours, by way of letting us enjoy your concert pianist abilities? If this wasn't posted before, Judy was a concert pianist. Thank you, Judy. You brought back one of my favorites back when I first heard this at the age of 14... along with the sheet music! No interpretation could be as perfect and beautiful as yours, here.

  • Thank you...

  • Gorgeous piano here...she's mesmerizing.

  • Judy, may you live forever! And when I get to Heaven, please I hope you live in my neighborhood! I love you!

  • The first songs I ever remember listening to were Judy Collins....my mother was a huge fan, and a very earthy, spiritual woman....I am very glad to have Judy in my growing up memories, and I still love listening to her....especially this vid...she's still so perfect, with her gorgeous voice....long life to Judy and I hope I hear more wonderful music.

  • Nothing can compare to Judy, her rendition of Suzanne is legendary....sad, sweet, melancholy, and powerful....

  • Saw Judy in 1993, grew up listening to her. Nothing can compare to her voice.....the only one who comes close is Judy Garland...but they are vastly different, but sublime in their own ways.

  • breathtaking

  • breathtaking

  • Judy Collins is as timeless as this music by Leonard Cohen. Fabulous!

  • phrasing suffers somewhat to the melodic flow of the piano but to see her proficiency on the keyboard is well worth the exchange

  • « even though he was built to see the world this way, he was also built to disregard, to be free of the way he was built to see the world »

  • Sings like an Angel and gets better as time goes by...very spiritual person...I would just love to hug her......

  • Two people who watched this video are tone deaf.

  • Judy judy amazing how you keep on growing, more beautiful & clear every year.

I think you know it. i hope you feel it every day as you go forward creating and singing.

  • Judy has given us so much over the years. I love her white hair and how she's aged so gracefully. She is still as beautiful as ever - inside and out.

  • Wow, get chills listening to this. Judy has such an amazing voice and ability to interpret songs.

  • I am still blown away by these words.

  • Good stuff,,this song really takes me back to very nice place...thanks for sharing..

  • YES QUITE A GORGEOUS AND PURE VOICE!! A GREAT SOUL TOO!!!

  • I saw her perform once in person. She wore a pure white gown and seemed an earth- mother goddess. She touched my imperfect body with her soul.

  • Wow, now this is living.!

  • one of my favorites. beautifully performed.

  • The first note she sang was flat.

  • Grace, beauty and the most extraordinarily pure voice combine to add a new dimension to this favourite Leonard Cohen song

  • Her voice is the definition of flowing silk and she is also amazingly beautiful. A true woman with life experience!

  • What an incredible clip! Just hypnotizing.

  • God I love her

  • Beautifully sung, but I must say I honestly think this song is best suited for guitar plus vocals. (Actually, I prefer Judy Collins when she played guitar).

  • top notch as usual for her

  • wow! look at Judy...brilliant!

  • What we have here is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, sung by one of the most beautiful voices ever. Leonard Cohen and Judy Collins-- what a magical combination. What else can you say, except absolutely gorgeous.

  • Hearing Judy's voice sends me to another place thats warm even though its still so cold outside.

  • Wow you DO get better with age!-- what a woman!! Inspirational!!

  • Is she actually playing the piano...the sound doesn't seem to be placed on the right keys. Are you sure this is Judy Colins 1? Oh well....

  • .... te quiero.

  • This is a voice that seemingly has not aged! But a spirit that has grown and survived the hardness life dishes out. Judy.. May the Lord the Bless.

  • couldn't say better...........

  • Thanks for the complement.

Jusy could not sing "it" better..then or now!

  • Well I could spell it better.

    Sorry...

    JUDY

  • Leonard Cohen's classic...so nicely done Judy Collins...

  • Her voice and piano playing clothes and holds me like a infant to a loving mothers' arms.

  • Stunning beautiful timeless. Thank you, ever though you made me cry.

  • Oh my god...this is beautiful.... Thank you for posting this, whoever runs this.

  • Judy does this song so beautifully. One of the most prolific folk singers of our age.

  • Judy, so much of your music has been the soundtrack for my life. Not only is your voice more beautiful than ever, but your piano playing is awesome. God Bless You Always.

  • This makes me want to see her live again!! Judy is one of the most versatile performers imo, performing folk, show tunes, popular, country, and foreign songs like Jacques Brel all magnificently, (rock too, though this is not her strong suit imo). She is also a very underated writer and her music holds a VERY special place in my heart!!

  • Thank you Judy - for all yoursongs

  • This brings me back to the 60s, when Judy and I were young and I, too, was a singer who worshipped both her and Joni Mitchell. God, she is amazing.

  • Aging has so little of an impact on such a wonderful woman, singer and so adorable. Thanks to my favorite radio wnyc for having posted this. Thanks Leonard Cohen as well.

  • I first heard the music of Leonard Cohen in the dark and stormy Aleutian Islands of Alaska. Very approriate setting for his haunting music. Judy is a perfect artist for interpreting his music. Thanks for the post.

  • Pre-take versions are sometimes the most heart felt versions.

  • This woman is a National Treasure. Her beauty transends. What a wonderful song to behold.

  • Thank you, Judy. Thank you.

  • This song has so many meanings to everyone. It has biblical references and allows for personal interpretations. Bon Jovi does a great job of singing this song as well.

  • was introduced to this song by Judy Blue Eyes, but love it whoever does it., even Leonard.)) They remind of a duo in I used to go see in Philly, who did old English folk songs. The girl had a voice like an angel, and the guy who played guitar, like a frog.

  • nice work on the piano...and what a voice, like a beautiful ghost come to lovingly haunt you...to fly you away.

    -Muhldoon

  • I wonder if Leonard did not have this glorious voice in mind when he wrote this...WONDERFUL

  • thanks for posting - simply superb

  • Just beautiful!

  • Judy is an amazing talent and an amazing woman!

  • Woman, You are Art, and the Web is Becoming Aware

  • Woman, You are Art

  • Always amazed how beautiful that song is, and Judy's voice too!

  • If somebody had that voice in their early twenties they'd be happy. She's amazing.

  • i can't believe she's 70. i hate aging.

  • Saw her in concert in 1967 @ Princeton U. and she still has the haunting quality and awesome musical skill! Bravo, Judy!

  • Voice and piano playing are awesome. You are timeless, Judy, and I love you!!!

  • Thank you, beautiful.

  • She sounds old now :( Her voice won't be the same... but it was amazing in its time, and it still is, in an older way.
