I haven't heard this song since I was a kid and I still love it. I literally forgot how POSITIVE and UPLIFTING music used to be. Is it any wonder why this generation was such a happy one and why today's kids have the highest incidence of depression and suicide in history?
Musicians: Tris Imboden - Drums; George Hawkins Jr - Bass; Brian Mann on Keys Mike Hamilton on Lead guitar; Vince Denham & the great late Jon Clarke on woodwinds
Wow! This fire is smokin' hot! Great musicianship, lyrics, arrangements, talent - it doesn't get any better than this. KL, McD,and JT, didn't see JT, but three of my favorites - superb!
George Hawkins, Vince Denham, Jon Clarke, Tris....what a band. The glory days. I met Vince at a Michael McDonald show years ago. He was blown away that I knew him from this album. You'd have to go very far to find kinder guys than him and Michael.
@maxxxx1972 I'm a drummer so I know drummers. Thats Tris Imboden. He's great. Plays with Chicago now with a new hair transplant.
And Junkanoo is the shit. Really great live album. Really captured the kenny Loggin live vibe. None of kenny's video's capture how good this dude is live. Really powerful voice.
This concert was awesome. My uncle kicked ass on the bass and still does. Anyone got any Junkanoo Holiday (Fallin Flying), there is a sick bass solo my uncle does.
ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN. THE WORDS ARE JUST AS POWERFUL TODAY AS WHEN THEY WERE FIRST WRITTEN. I WILL BE SEEING KENNY on SEPT. 17th AT THE CERRITOS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS!
I've loved this song from the very first time I heard it. This tune has helped me go through a lot of difficult times in the past. The lyrics are so inspiring.
We've had Brad Delp of Boston, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, John Denver and so many others that we just take for granted and assume they'll be here forever and we become so sad when it's to late and they're gone! Kenny Loggins, PLEASE keep the fire burnin.......
at 5:48. Mike Hamilton, the guitar player, is holding the high note, but Loggins steps in and does a little air guitar, like HE's holding the high note....or playing another note along with Mike. He's doing neither. He's posing. It's no big deal, just thought it was funny.
"Trys to make it look like it's HE who is doing the guitat wailing......". Where did that come from? It's obvious to anyone seeing this or being there that he isn "trying" anything. We can all see the lead player over his left shoulder playing it. Loggins is a rythm player..........koo koo bird.
@MrDaren6969: I totally agree. But the only way to appreciate his songs is, really, to own every single copy of his albums . Every song has it's own character. This on has been a favorite since I was in my teens.
@LochRaven62: Thank you so much for posting. I lost my betamax copy of this concert. LOL.
Tris Imboden. Great drummer. Went on to Chicago.

Kenny's studio version hit #36 in Billboard, 4-12-80. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

Too bad the song was in the Top 40 for only two weeks in 1980, peaking at only # 36. It deserved a # 1 slot for several weeks.

Amazing song from an amazing performer -- a good one to trot out when you feel like your fire is about to go out.
RecordWarped 1 year ago
Oh this brought me back!! This album Keep The Fire was a staple in my college years.
Kenny knew how to rock it in the 80's, and he was a BLAST to see in concert. He & his band JAM on this song.
And to be honest, all the girls loved him & it was kinda nice watching him shake his tush too.
