  • Dude your music is inspiring to me as a musician. Great tone!

  • @Oneill240Si thank you!

  • @tubescreamer Hey man. At 0:36 are you just swelling the chord with the POG octaved down? I really love the way that sounds.

  • Absolutely great (both composition and techniques)!

  • yield...pearl jam...great

  • I'm thinking about getting this setup (deviile/ac30) for stereo postrock*ish sounds but also need something that would work for other styles of music (rock mainly)..

D'you think it'd do the trick? Thanks!

  • @frankibiris76r i know you asked @tubescreamer here, not me, but you can get good rock tones out of either of those amps. for example, the Edge from U2 uses old AC30's alongside old fenderbassmans (off of which the Deville is based) and many many bands play one or the other of those two amps. it all depends on what you mean by other styles of music, and how you define a good rock tone.

  • This is great!

  • man seriusly great song and melody I had aan awful day but this soothes> Keep up doing great music

  • *like* *Add to: Favorites*

    done :)

  • SOMEBODYS been listening to a lot of U2 ;)

  • Can I play this at my wedding?

  • @godfrey902 in my wedding tooo!! :)

  • I'm loving these videos. Just a lot of great tricks and techniques I never would have thought of on my own. Hope you don't mind if I steal a few!

  • @GunningLoren not at all... thanks for watching/listening!

  • a masterpiece!

  • which amp do you like better? the vox or fender? i am looking for a new amp right now and i want it to sound good for music like this

  • @ibanezguitars44 they are both very good but completely different amps. it just depends on what you want/need.

  • @tubescreamer does the ac30 have enough headroom to stay clean at gigging volumes? that is my main concern with it. i know fender's higher powered amps have headroom for days.

  • how do you strum with out picking noise?

  • @mammoo1414 volume pedal

  • @tubescreamer talk to me goose.

  • @JgHaverty hey. i listen to very little U2.

  • I think the modulation is a little much for me on this video, but as far as the song goes.....it is really really really awesome.

  • At 5am, this is perfect.

  • That does it, I'm selling off my RE-20 for a DL4. I had no idea it was capable of undoing and multiple loops. Guess I was so against the whole DL4 hype and wanted to try something else that I neglected it's capabilities.

Overall this was a most useful video demonstration-wise, but the song itself is amazing. Keep it up!

  • @LukaFilipan I think you should take a closer look, the DL4 is not capable of undoing or multiple loops. All I did was start and stop the loop and stack on top of it.

  • @tubescreamer indeed, didn't quite catch my eye with all the footswitches :P

I'm very interested in how you got the violin sound, which settings on the POG? Also, what's the function on the timefactor that captures and drones the played chord (the first one on ambient song #9, I believe). I'm in the market for a better delay with looping capabilities and I'm torn between a DL4, Timefactor, or Superdelay. :/

  • love your work man

hey, at 2:43, can you tell me what's going on here? like did you stop the loop and then continue at that time (my fave part of the this song)? sorry, i've never had my hands on a DL4 (though looks like some sweet gear)

  • You just earned a subscriber.

  • @faithskater72 i like turtles!

  • This is insanely awesome.

  • This reminds me of the band "Kyte".

    Very well done. Very beautiful.

  • @njtnjtnjtnjt i love kyte.... thank you!

  • wow man this is fascinating !!

you play both with your hands and your feet !!

that must be really difficult !!

  • waht do you find better for looping? timefactor or dl4? I currently have a dd7 which as a really primitive looper and I want something with a better looper while still have some delay and other stuff..

    thanks

  • @theemomancan definitely the DL4

  • @tubescreamer really? what do you dislike about the timefactor looping?

  • @theemomancan it's less intuitive than the DL4. but i suppose that's just a function of the DL4 having one more button than the Timefactor. Currently neither of them meet my needs, as I'm looking for something that loops in stereo. Right now I'm looking at the Boomerang III looper.

  • Definitely my favourite of your songs. Can i ask why you're doing your swells using your volume knob and not the pedal?

  • @nomenclatures at the time of this video my volume pedal was really squeaky and i didn't want to get it on the recording :)

  • Amazing! Beats anything The Edge has done seriously-your sense of lyricism and approach to cinemtatically moving a piece through scene changes is stunning Andy.

  • @8888guitarman wow, thank you!!

  • Very nice. A couple of questions if you don't mind:

I notice a lot of people use the Line 6 DL4 or other delay pedals for looping, as opposed to a loop pedal/station...it that because you can do more with delay effects?

And how do you like the Boss RV5? Had you used any other 'verb pedals before settling on that one?

I enjoy your music, keep it up.

  • @fizzgigify ah, after commenting I watched some of your other videos where you explain your pedals and what they are for...but I would still just like to know if you prefer the Boss RV-5 or the Line 6 Verbzilla for reverb?

  • @fizzgigify RV-5 by a mile

  • your awesome..you loops are incredible.. seriously you are a great ambient gutarist..you know how to work your effects

  • @ReyJB thank you! i like to make sure all the effects on my board are on there for a reason and are used enough to justify keeping them...

  • superstar*

i heard a lil bit of a U2 sound in this one, which is really gr8! I love U2

  • Better and better everytime i watch this.

  • You showed up on youtube page when I opened it this evening. Love your sound. Your demos are well done also. I will keep listening.

  • @johntbd thanks! hope you continue to enjoy the stuff :)

  • I'd say the #1 and this #8 ambient loops are your best.

  • What part is reversed?

  • @bfv102290 the very first melody part i play has a bit of reverse delay from the superdelay.

  • Did you just have the reverse delay reverse the entire loop at 3:39?

  • @bfv102290 no, i just went into half time mode.

  • How'd you cut out certain parts of the loop and add them back in?

  • @bfv102290 all i did was turn the loop on and off and went back to playing the original part on my guitar.

  • one of the most beautiful ones i've heard yet man! great job!

  • @briankoot thanks!

  • I wish I could afford that many effects.

  • @bfv102290 me too

  • another great one brother. Good to see someone use delays well!

  • thanks man!

  • amazing playing dude...im planning on getting a deville and an rc-2 would u recommend them?

  • definitely!

  • i really love this.

  • @acidheartxo thanks :)

  • i see you updated to a keeley compressor =]

how much better is it than the dyna comp?

  • @denzl11 it is definitely a huge step up from the dyna comp. does really great things for my tone.

  • I love that the word "firetruck" is one of the tags for the video haha. Any relevance to something I'm missing?

  • @IbanezAXS42 ha, i was wondering when somebody would notice that. i always just put some random word in the tags. i don't really know why.

  • My all time favorite video and quite possibly the greatest arrangement of sound in time that I've ever heard.

If it were me tho instead of fading it out I would have slowly increased some self oscillation from the delay. For the sake of the song tho fading it out was probably a much better move so props to you once again my friend. Five stars, as always.

  • @IbanezAXS42 thanks! oscillation would have been nice too, but it's hard working from a loop and trying to end the song unabruptly... i did the best i could :)

  • sounds like crack the shutters by snow patrol

  • i love your stuff. One question though, you obviously have funds to get all this great gear, if you are only using the DL4 for the loop then why don't you upgrade to something like the boss rc-20 or something? Just so you can have more loop time

  • @bmwz20 the rc-20 would be nice, but the DL4 is just so intuitive, and reverse/half time controls are really great. i would love to include an rc-20 in my rig (if it was stereo) to complement the DL4.

  • awesome stuff man, really amazing. kudos to you.

looking forward to hearing more from you!

  • I can't even think of something to write so i'll just say, there are no words to describe how beautiful your music is. When this song hits 1:45-1:46 ish ... the whole song changes into a masterpiece.

  • @connorwellsinfinity thanks man!

  • moving and incredible. I really enjoy what you're creating, miles better than a lot of bands I've paid for.

  • @smn806 awesome man, that means a lot! i've got another album coming out in a month, and it will be available for a free download... watch out for it!

  • Very interesting and skilful usage. I see the line 6 dl4 relegated to looping -I been doing same thing last two days. Shame the line 6 dl4 cant 'loop'- using its own delay models for its input imho.

Anyway, brilliant yet again squire!. 5*

    -Ian

  • @ianmcgeachy Thanks! Yeah, the DL4 allows you to loop that one delay setting included with the looper, but agreed, it would be great to choose which mode you wanted. However, I think I have enough delay pedals to keep my bases covered. :)

  • hey bro, great job on this. youre very good at what you do. I have a question though... I have been thinking lately about buying a vox to use at the same time as the deville, so i was stoked to see that someone had actually done this already (or at least i think you are). any suggestions on how to go about this, or which amp to buy? how do these amps sound blended, how did you blend them?

  • @ifallelsefails123 the amps sound really great together, and really complement each other well. since they each use different power tubes, you get two really great flavors to mix together. i'd definitely recommend it!

  • @tubescreamer thanks a lot bro.

  • Fabulous. I'll take two. Hey, umm, what are those settings... Only joking. :) Great stuff!

  • Wow man, seriously, this is some good stuff!! U never cease to amaze!! :D

  • thanks so much man!

  • God this is good...

  • Excellent like always!

  • Vintage Modified...nice

  • absolutely, i loved the original, but this one is even better!

  • Sounding good man. love your stuff

  • very good! sounds awesome!!

  • heyy ive got a question about your amps,

i no you use your ac30, but how bout the ac15? would you recommend it over the bluew junior? cleans?

  • I had an AC15 for a while and just didn't bond with it. I like the 30 so much more... more clean headroom and more tone shaping options are the main reasons. I like the blues junior over the AC15.

  • Another excellent masterpiece.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks!

  • Andy you've done it again. This is your best work yet brother. You and @DemoColorScheme are such huge inspirations!!!!!

  • Thanks man! I really appreciate it!

  • @ IbanezAXS42:

Aw, that's kind of you! Nice to hear!

  • would you happen to have any of these ambient songs on your youtube recorded? i love em

  • I have recorded ambient song #2 and am currently working on #7. will probably do this one as well. #7 is coming out a bit different than the video, simply because i have more options.

  • Freakin Awesome

  • another great video!

  • This song is amazing.

  • dude...dang you and your goodness.

this is so good. : )

  • haha thanks dude. :)

  • Stereoly awesome. Great sound. Nice blend of effect use and skills.

  • I was about to bash this video then 1:46 kicked in and i was blown away how beautiful it sounded

  • glad to hear you ended up enjoying it :)

  • Huh, some of your song are so inspiring, that I can't get rid of some ambient stuff in my head. And I'm extremaly jealous about some of your pedals! :D

    Keep on!

  • Superb!

  • Can't get enough of this! Brilliant stuff mate!

  • Ah man, Andy .. that was extremely lovely, really!

Is it strange saying I 'miss' you? It's like I could totally imagine us jamming to this!

  • Thanks man! I still say you need a trip to the states!

  • Absolutely! Without a doubt!

  • I bought an RV-5 just because of your videos. Im loving this ambient type style you have. Keep it up!

  • Awesome! It's a great pedal. I actually bought mine because of @DemoColorScheme... :)

  • Ha, that's cool! It's great I had an influence on you, mate!

  • Uplifting tune.

  • great stuff. always look forward to seeing your vids.

  • andy,

that sounded great. my favorite video you've made thus far. please, keep making more!

  • thanks dude! i definitely will :)

  • tubescreamer, this is one of your best videos!

  • Your rig is the shit. And your playing. Seriously bro, that was mesmerizing.

  • Man I love your music so much. Have you by any chance seen a band called Shekinah?

  • Thanks! And yes... they are a local band I've seen a few times. Definitely a good sound!

  • Oh sweet! I play drums for them :)

  • Awesome, you guys are great!

  • Wow.....I don't know what else to say. That was really great.

And I'm still waiting for that new demo of your pedalboard. ;) (which I'm extremely envious of by the way)

  • Thank you... I apologize for not doing a demo... I promise I will do it soon!

  • Hey, do you have an album out or some sort of collection of all your ambient songs? I would love to add them to my ambient playlist on my iPod. Great playing btw!
