I'm still laughing! Great piece you guys. I enjoyed your work. Keep up the great work. Aside from the hilarious theme and plot. I like how your film reminds me that no one is perfect and despite our short comings, there are others who will still embrace us for who we are. Thanks guys, that was great.
The Marxism of Political Correctness taught in our schools, the Media's conditioning of political correctness, and the push for broad unfettered multiculturalism has served to starve our sense of national identity and to fear speaking the truth lest we offend or evoke conflict. It's time to stand tall, strong, and reject the policies and politics of liberalism and defend our democracy.
I was very hesitant to continue watching after I saw the adult briefs because I thought this would be one of the typical videos mocking those with a neurogenic bladder. Instead I watched and saw a very well-thought-out video that really expresses the idea of everyone having flaws and being vulnerable. I found this to be incredibly deep, and to those who found it funny, you missed the point entirely.
WTF... I put this on full-screen, and when the video ended there was a flow-chart thing, with a link to some liquid church advertisment... did 'liquid church' sponsor this project direct? Why is their advertising linked to this?? I feel manipulated.
It was funny reminded me of my grandmother and how my aunt has to change her depends. What an awful job. The good thing about this guy is that he can change them himself. I like the part when he is talking to his buddy at the restaurnat. I myself would not be having a beer unless ofcourse you enjoy taking a piss in your pants as much as that guy did.

OMG, So not original, I saw such a similar thing about 6 years ago when I was a little kid...
A guy marriage a beautiful woman, and when they got home, her face was ugly after she took off all the stuff that she had on it. Then the "guy" husband turn out to be wearing fake teeth.
hey jonesydog people like you are relaly into see the glass half empty. Personally "Ties" by far is my favorite film, period:" but you gotta give them the idea " that things are bot as bas as you thought". Smile with all teeth. Good luck
something like this with the second rate camera work, pedestrian directing, irritating casting and predictable writing really has only a limited appeal, but good effort nonetheless.
You handled the subject with sensitivity and I was wrapped up in the story, waiting for her response, although I don't agree with the idea that love means sharing our embarassing shortcomings.
Anyways, you know how to carry momentum, and I'm not seeing much of that in these Project: Direct films.
I didnt find this a cheap laugh in any way. It was a sore film, of how your body lets you down while you are not prepared for it, and how you try to hide it from the rest of the glossy world. It funny in a cute, humane way. Cheap laughs...Not at all.
A good movie, thanks for sharing it. Congratz on the top 20 and best of luck!
This film was good for a superficial laugh. I however, find a serious storyline full of parallelism and foreshadowing, much more involving, like the writers of "The Title" displayed on their entry. Now there was a submission!
WDQNRAdio, It is very tacky to criticize another person's entry on their channel and simultaneously plug the submission that you were in. Yeah. Tacky.
im laughing...bilmitch, every film in this contest had to go by those guidlines, every film did, they all had to use those criteria, and there are so many better of films...this is all cliche humor to get cheap laughs and cause so many people to view it. thats my only guess, it got so many views, they had to put it on top twenty....from a film standard, wow, what the heck, thats rad he is a bio major, bio is so hard, im shocked a bio major made this kind of film
nattyidabs- PART I: I think you just don't get it! This film was not intended as a superficial , "ha-ha" funny piece. My interpretation of this story line is that this film represents a portrayal of the human condition...and "man's inhumanity to man." We are a society which is too often based on a philosophy of youth, beauty, and physical perfection ...and intolerance & impatience of those who fall short...particularly the elderly.
PART II: I would hope that any thoughtful viewer would see the deeper meaning intended here...i.e., if one reads between the lines, it will be evident that "cliche humor" and "cheap laughs" are not appropriate critiques because they do not apply to this piece.
I reiterate my stance that the final message of this film is that we are all imperfect in one way or another...thank God that there are those who love us (even you!)and accept and care for us, IN SPITE of our imperfections! Though I respect your right to express your opinion...maybe we can just agree that we disagree on this subject.
PART I I think "Plumbing" is awesome...especially when you consider the three criteria they needed to work with...i.e., deal with a "mature" issue one shouldn't have to face at a younger age, use the words " I demand an explanation for these shenanigans...what do you have to say for yourself? ", and finally, pass photos from one person to another. How difficult is that to pull off!?
I am a nurse...and while the issue portrayed is certainly not funny for many older men (AND WOMEN!), I think the actors did a GREAT job of portraying the embarrassment and isolation experienced by those who suffer from this condition. Rather than "make fun" of an already unfunny issue, i feel that the "take-away" message at the end was very sensitive and endearing...i.e., we all have imperfections, but they are "invisible" to those who love and care for one another.
jealous? of what? there is an outstanding film in this competition. it is called "gone in a flash". i had absolutely nothing to do with it; however, i can say that it is truly special. it is naturally comedic, and has depth. i give credit when it's due. i can even say congrats to making top 20. i can't say that this film is special though.
Uh, why did you thing "gone in a flash" is any good at all? I've seen lots of indies, shorts, and I can safely say that, while predictable, Plumbing was still funny and had some character development, as opposed to GIAF, which had none. Only thing GIAF had was a kinda cool but TOTALLY played out commercial look. Sorry to say this but RISD must really have lowered its standards (considering all the RISD people I know who graduate many years ago and actually have good taste).
i liked "gone in a flash" because of its cinematography. i also thought the sound, editing, and acting were profesh. i did not care for its message. i totally hear your point on the commericial look, and i do believe that there is a quality to plumbing's non-commericial look. in 7 minutes it's tough to hit on solid character development, but you do have a point. i apologize though if i offended anyone. best of luck to you guys.
RISD, the only offensive part is you mentioning the lack of solid character development and yet failing to notice the stuffed black cat's complex story arc. He is seen looking into camera at 47 secs, and when we next see him at 5:17 he is gazing towards the heavens, obviously a deeply changed feline. The director doesn't dumb it down for us he merely leaves us to ponder the stuffed cat's existential crisis. Don't get caught up in the diaper scenario, this is the story of a troubled stuffed cat..
Not funny at all. The panel would select something this meaningless and lame... To be honest, I saw films that were far better than this. I am a film student and I can safely say that you lucked out. Take it for what it's worth. The hook was predictable. The camera work was not well orchestrated. The actor in the suit was trying way too hard to be funny. How on earth is this Top 20?

I think its funny. But I don't see any evidence of how this would have been a hard film to direct. The acting is mediocre, and the photography is weak... I didn't see any shots with the subject lit either.
Not a film worthy of any film festival. But thats just my opinion.
Good lighting. Great cuts. Great shots, just not any sweeping dollies or still cams. That's just an art style. Traffic was done all by hand by the director. 5 Stars!
Some of what you say is true, but the acting is actually pretty good in comparison to the rest of these films. No one is really any good at incorporating the "I demand an explanation for these shenanigans" line without beating the audience over the head with it.
no cinematic skill, paning, angles, no dolly, jib, or camera balance, you can make these things for next to nothing, no excuse for obvious hand held shots even for a short

Disturbing. Revealing. Frightening. Funny. Touching. I VERY MUCH LOVE the way you SHOW things, don't just tell them with dialogue. EXLNT use of VISUAL power! Thank you thank you thank you. I am afraid you are going to be one of my most serious competitors!!! Good luck! (My work is so very different, fyi).

I thought at the end she would have a Depends on too. The twist made it. Otherwise it would of been too predictable.

Good job! The reveal of the protective underwear was hilarious! Nice suspense and twist at the end. Silence is a better way of communicating sometimes and you didn't give the routine ending.
