  • KEN TANAKA!!!!!!!

  • so so good

  • I'm still laughing! Great piece you guys. I enjoyed your work. Keep up the great work. Aside from the hilarious theme and plot. I like how your film reminds me that no one is perfect and despite our short comings, there are others who will still embrace us for who we are. Thanks guys, that was great.

  • good job!

  • lol carl, love it man

  • nice job !

  • very funny, and very sick, as well as poignant. well, more sick and funny than poignant actually. sickeningly funny??

  • fuuuuuuuuuny

  • Stick to comedy.

  • that was really good! david is a great actor and funny

  • YESSSS! THAT MOVIE IS GREAT! Im adding it!

  • Nicely done!! It has the makings of an indie film short: precise and to the point...and funny! You definitely have a winner.

  • hahahahahaha!!!

    very goog my friend...very cute!!

    luck!!

  • aw, what a bittersweet story.

  • I was very hesitant to continue watching after I saw the adult briefs because I thought this would be one of the typical videos mocking those with a neurogenic bladder. Instead I watched and saw a very well-thought-out video that really expresses the idea of everyone having flaws and being vulnerable. I found this to be incredibly deep, and to those who found it funny, you missed the point entirely.

  • that was good but...did he really have to show the foot at the end! haahahah

  • there was pee running down his foot!

  • There's someone out there for everyone. Even that guy.

  • That was cute :]

  • That was some sweet animal wranglin'!

And the movie was good, too...

  • GREAT short, although could do without the end scene (leg drip), a bit too much, otherwise great.

  • It's pretty good i guess... most of the camera angles and acting i found pretty awkward and strange...

  • That was good:)

  • hahahhahahahahahhahahah 5 stars hahahahahah

  • gross but sweet

  • haha that was a good video.

Thought it was a little obnoxious at the end tho when pee trickled onto his foot

  • it was nice

  • OOHHHH CRAP :0

  • Haha, great. I can't believe he could enjoy relieving himself like that, as he seemed to in the resteraunt. But wonderful vid.

  • WTF... I put this on full-screen, and when the video ended there was a flow-chart thing, with a link to some liquid church advertisment... did 'liquid church' sponsor this project direct? Why is their advertising linked to this?? I feel manipulated.

  • Who won?

  • Hey! That's Ken Tanaka!

  • =)

    i liked it

  • It was funny reminded me of my grandmother and how my aunt has to change her depends. What an awful job. The good thing about this guy is that he can change them himself. I like the part when he is talking to his buddy at the restaurnat. I myself would not be having a beer unless ofcourse you enjoy taking a piss in your pants as much as that guy did.

  • u know what thats a great question

    i was justb wondering that

its so weird how almost every movie has that

  • It was one of the requirements for the contest.

  • I loved it! Great video guys... This just shows that all normal people sometimes have nightmarish problems... Awesome again!

  • This was a clever way to fulfill the assignment. I hadn't thought of a middle aged guy having to do things normally associated with being elderly.

  • i really like that. can anybody help me; where is this guy from? he looks so familiar.

  • This was a good film; in fact the ending brought a smile to my face and I needed one after third place wonner. Thank you!

  • hey jonesydog people like you are relaly into see the glass half empty. Personally "Ties" by far is my favorite film, period:" but you gotta give them the idea " that things are bot as bas as you thought". Smile with all teeth. Good luck

  • IT"S SIMPLE:

search David Firth - that's good.

some badly written & shot dude with a thyroid problem, playing a guy with incontinence - not good

  • something like this with the second rate camera work, pedestrian directing, irritating casting and predictable writing really has only a limited appeal, but good effort nonetheless.

  • I know...why didn't they cast that talking donkey from Shrek? He's hilarious.

  • anyone other than this depressing dipshit.

  • This is really a great short movie... like the way the subject is handled is really touching and stuff...

  • You handled the subject with sensitivity and I was wrapped up in the story, waiting for her response, although I don't agree with the idea that love means sharing our embarassing shortcomings.

Anyways, you know how to carry momentum, and I'm not seeing much of that in these Project: Direct films.

  • there you go, this know nothing is ready to lick your ass.

  • I'm from "Laços." Thank you for the sweet comment. And good luck!

  • Definitely touching. Great job!!!

  • like an inappropriate uncle.

  • I haven't seen all of them yet, but I liked this one.

  • lol

  • I didnt find this a cheap laugh in any way. It was a sore film, of how your body lets you down while you are not prepared for it, and how you try to hide it from the rest of the glossy world. It funny in a cute, humane way. Cheap laughs...Not at all.

A good movie, thanks for sharing it. Congratz on the top 20 and best of luck!

  • This film was good for a superficial laugh. I however, find a serious storyline full of parallelism and foreshadowing, much more involving, like the writers of "The Title" displayed on their entry. Now there was a submission!

  • WDQNRAdio, It is very tacky to criticize another person's entry on their channel and simultaneously plug the submission that you were in. Yeah. Tacky.

  • im laughing...bilmitch, every film in this contest had to go by those guidlines, every film did, they all had to use those criteria, and there are so many better of films...this is all cliche humor to get cheap laughs and cause so many people to view it. thats my only guess, it got so many views, they had to put it on top twenty....from a film standard, wow, what the heck, thats rad he is a bio major, bio is so hard, im shocked a bio major made this kind of film

  • Yes, nattyjdabs, it could have been all the views that got it to the top 20...or it could have been the threats of violence.

  • nattyidabs- PART I: I think you just don't get it! This film was not intended as a superficial , "ha-ha" funny piece. My interpretation of this story line is that this film represents a portrayal of the human condition...and "man's inhumanity to man." We are a society which is too often based on a philosophy of youth, beauty, and physical perfection ...and intolerance & impatience of those who fall short...particularly the elderly.

  • PART II: I would hope that any thoughtful viewer would see the deeper meaning intended here...i.e., if one reads between the lines, it will be evident that "cliche humor" and "cheap laughs" are not appropriate critiques because they do not apply to this piece.

  • PART III:

I reiterate my stance that the final message of this film is that we are all imperfect in one way or another...thank God that there are those who love us (even you!)and accept and care for us, IN SPITE of our imperfections! Though I respect your right to express your opinion...maybe we can just agree that we disagree on this subject.

  • i don't get it. can someone explain to me?

  • Classic.

  • PART I I think "Plumbing" is awesome...especially when you consider the three criteria they needed to work with...i.e., deal with a "mature" issue one shouldn't have to face at a younger age, use the words " I demand an explanation for these shenanigans...what do you have to say for yourself? ", and finally, pass photos from one person to another. How difficult is that to pull off!?

  • Part II

I am a nurse...and while the issue portrayed is certainly not funny for many older men (AND WOMEN!), I think the actors did a GREAT job of portraying the embarrassment and isolation experienced by those who suffer from this condition. Rather than "make fun" of an already unfunny issue, i feel that the "take-away" message at the end was very sensitive and endearing...i.e., we all have imperfections, but they are "invisible" to those who love and care for one another.

  • Very funny!

  • Wow! He is a film student, so he can safely say that you lucked out?

    RISD3film sounds a little jealous.

Plumbing absolutely deserves to be in the top 20 and is one of my favorites!

  • I am a student of biology and I can safely say that all life forms in the film were carbon based.

  • again, not funny. haha.

  • again, not funny. haha.

  • I am a student of Urology and I can safely say that you lucked out with all of the urinating shots.

Its very hard to get an actor to urinate on Q, but your actor nailed it!

  • Urinating on Q is never about luck, it is about hard work, dedication and method. As Stanislavski once said.

  • you are the king of method acting on youtube!

  • jealous? of what? there is an outstanding film in this competition. it is called "gone in a flash". i had absolutely nothing to do with it; however, i can say that it is truly special. it is naturally comedic, and has depth. i give credit when it's due. i can even say congrats to making top 20. i can't say that this film is special though.

  • Uh, why did you thing "gone in a flash" is any good at all? I've seen lots of indies, shorts, and I can safely say that, while predictable, Plumbing was still funny and had some character development, as opposed to GIAF, which had none. Only thing GIAF had was a kinda cool but TOTALLY played out commercial look. Sorry to say this but RISD must really have lowered its standards (considering all the RISD people I know who graduate many years ago and actually have good taste).

  • i liked "gone in a flash" because of its cinematography. i also thought the sound, editing, and acting were profesh. i did not care for its message. i totally hear your point on the commericial look, and i do believe that there is a quality to plumbing's non-commericial look. in 7 minutes it's tough to hit on solid character development, but you do have a point. i apologize though if i offended anyone. best of luck to you guys.

  • RISD, the only offensive part is you mentioning the lack of solid character development and yet failing to notice the stuffed black cat's complex story arc. He is seen looking into camera at 47 secs, and when we next see him at 5:17 he is gazing towards the heavens, obviously a deeply changed feline. The director doesn't dumb it down for us he merely leaves us to ponder the stuffed cat's existential crisis. Don't get caught up in the diaper scenario, this is the story of a troubled stuffed cat..

  • Not funny at all. The panel would select something this meaningless and lame... To be honest, I saw films that were far better than this. I am a film student and I can safely say that you lucked out. Take it for what it's worth. The hook was predictable. The camera work was not well orchestrated. The actor in the suit was trying way too hard to be funny. How on earth is this Top 20?

  • this is absolutly horrible...how on earth is this a finalist...i have watched hundreds of these, and this is an insult, what the heck...i can name like 240 that are better than this...I have lost all interest in paying attention to whow wins this.

  • Congrats on being in the finalists!

I humbly take credit for the idea of the last shot, with the urine trickling down, but I'd have made it more obvious.

    Favorited.

    - TAE

  • I think its funny. But I don't see any evidence of how this would have been a hard film to direct. The acting is mediocre, and the photography is weak... I didn't see any shots with the subject lit either.

Not a film worthy of any film festival. But thats just my opinion.

  • Good lighting. Great cuts. Great shots, just not any sweeping dollies or still cams. That's just an art style. Traffic was done all by hand by the director. 5 Stars!

    - TAE

  • What cuts are you referring to? I did not see one great shot. 5 stars? Wow...

  • I really enjoyed the exploration of the environment at the beginning and the last few shots at the end. Are you competing in the competition?

    - TAE

  • Some of what you say is true, but the acting is actually pretty good in comparison to the rest of these films. No one is really any good at incorporating the "I demand an explanation for these shenanigans" line without beating the audience over the head with it.

  • LOL, the punchline was great!!!

  • Really?

  • entertainment factor 9 theme very funny

cinematic factor 5 almost didnt finish it

    dialog 5 Too slow

no cinematic skill, paning, angles, no dolly, jib, or camera balance, you can make these things for next to nothing, no excuse for obvious hand held shots even for a short

  • Incontinence is nothing to laugh at... UNTIL NOW. Love it. It made me tinkle.

  • Everyone is temporarily able bodied; good film!

  • odd

  • EXCELLENT! BRAVO!

  • High LARIOUS!!! Good job.

  • I'm still wearing that diaper. If this wins the contest. I'll sell it on Ebay.

  • Man i really felt sorry for that guy!

    Good sound and soundtrack.

    my vote for sure.

  • Great stuff Lou. You rule.

  • made me laugh :) i like it

  • Great short,

The emotions (embarrasment) of the character was told very well without words. Good acting! Great directing.

    A++

  • Great job. A clever idea told simply, patiently, and very entertaining. Congratulations. I directed "my name is lisa" - which is also in the Top 20.

  • I'm really glad to see "Plumbing" in the top 20 final! I hope you'll get in with "Plumbing" and became one of the awards winners. Good luck!

  • Great! "Laços" is excelent too.

  • wooohooo to lou! I rootin for no more lettuce cups for ya

  • I haven't seen all of them yet, but this one is my favorite so far. The ending was really sweet, good job

  • I watched this again.

  • Great vid.

  • I thought this was great! Very Nicely done... But did he hand a photograph anywhere in it? I dunno if I missed that bit.

  • thank you. his friend handed him a couple of them in the restaurant scene.

  • Ahhh Yes just watched it again! Ha! I cant believe I missed that. Ha!

    Thanks!

  • This is awesome! So funny - how the hell did you come up with the idea? maybe I'd ratrher not know ... ;)

If you get a chance, check out mine! Thanks!

  • Your lead has a very expressive face. Great casting choices all around. Also, one of the less awkward "shenanigans" moments. Strong submission. Best of luck.

  • Wow the acting in this was the best i've see on so far. Nice filming.

  • Wow. Very well done. You capture so much mood and pathos by doing so little.

  • I love your take on the source material, it's sure to be one of the most original premises. Best I've seen so far.

  • Great idea! Love how the situation and dialouge were presented. Thanks for the laugh.

  • hahah quite funny i like this

  • Best delivery of the line of dialogue so far! Great, touching characters, very funny. May not have the technical filmmaking pinache of some of the other entries, but the story and acting are top notch. Brilliant. Good luck in the contest.

  • Still one of the best entries! Did you act in this as well?

  • thanks. no i didnt act in it. i wanted to really focus on what i was doing. happy i did, because i love what the actors did.

  • The acting is superb!!! Are these friends of yours or hired actors?

  • Friends, and they are real actors.

  • Excellent story, there is someone out there for everyone!! I really liked the end credits as well very funny. a good challenger right here. check out my film , love to hear your feed back.

  • I like it!

    Expecially about you'r driver!

  • funniest video I've seen in the competition

  • Great job!

  • nice job!! check out my entry

  • What I love about this is that your characters are flawed, and you make it so poetic and hilarious! Favorited.

    - TAE

  • Disturbing. Revealing. Frightening. Funny. Touching. I VERY MUCH LOVE the way you SHOW things, don't just tell them with dialogue. EXLNT use of VISUAL power! Thank you thank you thank you. I am afraid you are going to be one of my most serious competitors!!! Good luck! (My work is so very different, fyi).

  • Very nice.

I have nothing more to say about this master piece.

  • very endearing. great job.

  • gives me hope that I will find my toothless girl!

  • I thought at the end she would have a Depends on too. The twist made it. Otherwise it would of been too predictable.

  • nice job louis! next time i'd be happy to assist you with the animal wrangling.

  • look is Karaoke Steve!!! lol awesome video

  • What are you smokin? Karaoke Steve is from France and this David Uri guy dont have no cool french accent like karaoke steve!

  • I am smoking some good pot want some?

  • sweet piece dude. i dug.

  • Good job! The reveal of the protective underwear was hilarious! Nice suspense and twist at the end. Silence is a better way of communicating sometimes and you didn't give the routine ending.

  • sweet!!!

  • This was really good. I loved the ending. : )

  • I laughed, I cried, I peed.

  • Unbelievable. He didn't even wash his hands. I recommend he watch Karaoke Steve's guide to toiletry hygiene.

  • very good. the beginning was sickening, but i continued to watch and im glad i did. well done.

  • DITTO

  • Very well done Louis!!! 5 stars all the way.
