..Yugoslavia a much more powerful enemy than today's FYRo"M".. But after the destruction of Ygoslavia, this small federal state beca,e an idependent country, and -GUESS WHAT??- the chose the name Republic of Macedonia, and chose "Macedonian" nationality and language.. Ignoring the fact that macedonian should be a geographical term, beCause there are MUCH MORE people in south (greek part) Macedonia, who are obviously Macedonians (THEY LIVE IN MACEDONIA!!! GREEK PART OF MACEDONIA!!), and also..

The monopolisation of the term "Macedonian" by the little state of FYRO"M" is a madness, and a clear CHANGE OF HISTORIC REALITY!! The original successor of the ancient macedonian history, is the state whose language is successor of ancient Macedonian language: greek language.. All inscriptions found at Macedonia from Atiquity are written in ancient greek language!!!

What FyRO"Macedonians" do is only making hypothesis that ancient Macedonians had greek as kind of official language, and they spoke "macedonian" language!! But why would that happen?? And why is there not found any inscriptions written in a non-greek "macedonian" language?? Thats nonsense!!!

And that's why greece suggests (or better "demands") a name that describes the slavic origin of fyrom people, or the geographical position of "fyrom's" part of Macedonia, in order to make clear that there is another bigger part of Macedonia, wich is greek territory: GREEK AND MACEDONIAN at the same time..

That's why Greece could only accept names as "Slavomacedonia", "Upper Macedonia", or "New Macedonia" for FYROMS state.. Is it something out of reality or unfair??

Macedonia is a geographical region, hte borders of wich (the region, not the state) are generally known.. During the antiquity it had been (if not definately greek) part of the greek world.

Through the pass of time, this region became part of Roman empire, then part of the Byzantium (greek-speaking eastern roman empire), and around 6th century AD the Slavs came and settled in the area (fyrom's ancestors).. After the Ottoman expansion, Macedonia became a multiethnical region, with Turks, Slavs and Greeks, the presence of whom (the Greeks) was limited mainly in the South (coastal) part of Macedonia.. The Slavs of Macedonia DID NOT EVER have a "macedonian" national conscience until..

..until the early 20th or late 19th centtury.. The first who had the idea of an idependent "macedonian" ethnicity were some Slav extremists (ethnically bulgarians as most scholars believe, or even themselves having admitted).. At 1913 the greek state (having gained indepedence since 1830) tries to expand its frontiers by invading to regions with greek hitory, and greek-speaking population presence.. ONE OF THESE REGIONS IS MACEDONIA. Greece fought for Macedonia against BULGARIANS and Turks..

THERE WAS NOT ANY "MACEDONIAN" NATION AT BALKAN WARS. The Slavs of Macedonia were BULGARIANS.. There was not any "ethnic Macedonian" term, as Macedonia was a multiethnical region. Finally the South Macedonia became part of Greece and it did contain some parts originally inhabited by Slavic-Bulgarian majorities.. Yes, it was kind of injustice, but you cannot talk about injustice when talking about war!!! The north part of Macedonia became part of Yugoslavia and the west of Bulgaria..

In an attempt to debulgarize its part of Macedonia, Yugoslavia encouraged the term "Macedonian" to describe the origin of these people, and the federal state was renamed from "Vardarska Bannovina" (=sth like "periphery of river Vardar" to Federal Republic of Macedonia.. Greece did not react to that.. The reasons were maybe that the considered the term "federal republic of Macedonia" as a term used inside Yugoslavia, not a national term.. One second reason is that probably Greece considered..
