did flo and eddie have a tv show? huh? I knew they had a radio show... why are these things NOT on pristine DVD? why do a-s-shats like Merv get full box sets and flo & eddie get grainy VHS you tube clips? What kind of sick, backward world is this?
@fnub Both Mark and Howard were in Frank Zappa and The Mothers for a bit, around 1971. They're featured in Zappa's film "200 Motels." Of course, Mark and Howard were the frontmen for The Turtles you know....I take it you DO know that, don't you?
@TheDilligan Mark Volman is still married to his childhood sweetheart so I would guess that he is not... I am not sure about Howard Kaylen.. but it really doesn't matter
Wow, to me this is a totlly remarkable Kiss track. I LOVE the Paul Stanley guitar solo ... I had no idea he could play lead that well.. I LOVE the Gene vocal ... I had no idea he could sing that well. I LOVE the song. I DID know Kiss had written some great stuff over the years, but this is a different genre for them. Very cool. Best line, however, goes to Howard ... " You weren't in the audience'. Funny-
i actually really loved "Songs from The Elder" when I was growing up as a teenager...it was something which took me on a journey, rather than just the standard albums which would feature the 'HIT' and then just some fill-ers...I thought it suited the entire fantasy theme kiss had established..love it or hate it....i believe there is some hidden gems on the album.
The Elder was a little off track for KISS music. But, the storyline was great considering most KISS fans were males in their early teens at the time. And the story dealt with a boy confronting his own fears and unsuredness to overcome any obstacle. To have the strength to believe in himself and become a man. Early teens is an awkward time. It is a time of sort of finding our way to adulthood. The Elder connected in that sense. "I believe in me" Have the confidence to just be yourself.
I love this interview! It's funny, loose, interesting, and witty. Paul and Gene are engaging and good humoured. I think the costumes were good, too. They were trying to simplify their costumes because they knew they couldn't just maintain the status quo. Too bad the album was a little on the stinky side! Great interview here, though. I wish Gene was like this more often.
Number 17 or 18 on the list of the top 100 things I love about KISS: unlike all the decadent burnout hippies and transvestites of the rock and roll world, these guys are showbiz throwbacks like Bob Hope or Dean Martin.
Wow, I remember this when it aired. It was also quite possibly the last time that Gene and Paul were interviewed without either of them relying upon a hair replacement system of some type.
I'm more impressed by Flo and Eddie..... I used to listen to them on the Radio when I was a kid, they were fuckin mad men! They really rode that whole Turtles thing to death....
I like The Elder, sure it was something very different from what KISS usually does, but it was still a good album :)

Ya Bob Ezrin rules! If it wasn't for him and Alice Cooper KISS would never exist, basically they would have nobody to steal everything from.
