  • I like The Elder, sure it was something very different from what KISS usually does, but it was still a good album :)

  • did flo and eddie have a tv show? huh? I knew they had a radio show... why are these things NOT on pristine DVD? why do a-s-shats like Merv get full box sets and flo & eddie get grainy VHS you tube clips? What kind of sick, backward world is this?

  • 4:43 is the moment Gene stops Paul's gayness?

  • That was a weird moment...

  • @RomaniGandalf Yep. Well don't care if so. But wtf?

  • Two polite, nice Jewish men. A refreshing departure from the usual fare of rock stars.

  • The Elder sucked! and I'm in the KISS ARMY for christ's sake! So that's really saying something I guess...lol XD

  • Is one of those interviewer guys from the Mothers?

  • @fnub Both Mark and Howard were in Frank Zappa and The Mothers for a bit, around 1971. They're featured in Zappa's film "200 Motels." Of course, Mark and Howard were the frontmen for The Turtles you know....I take it you DO know that, don't you?

  • flo and eddie are gay aren't they??

  • @TheDilligan Mark Volman is still married to his childhood sweetheart so I would guess that he is not... I am not sure about Howard Kaylen.. but it really doesn't matter

  • Wow, to me this is a totlly remarkable Kiss track. I LOVE the Paul Stanley guitar solo ... I had no idea he could play lead that well.. I LOVE the Gene vocal ... I had no idea he could sing that well. I LOVE the song. I DID know Kiss had written some great stuff over the years, but this is a different genre for them. Very cool. Best line, however, goes to Howard ... " You weren't in the audience'. Funny-

  • I have just decided I will never wear a purple headband.

  • I love Paul's hair like that ;)

  • Lou Reed actually coined the phrase A WORLD WITHOUT HEROES for the boys and they did the rest

  • great vid

  • i actually really loved "Songs from The Elder" when I was growing up as a teenager...it was something which took me on a journey, rather than just the standard albums which would feature the 'HIT' and then just some fill-ers...I thought it suited the entire fantasy theme kiss had established..love it or hate it....i believe there is some hidden gems on the album.

  • The Elder was a little off track for KISS music. But, the storyline was great considering most KISS fans were males in their early teens at the time. And the story dealt with a boy confronting his own fears and unsuredness to overcome any obstacle. To have the strength to believe in himself and become a man. Early teens is an awkward time. It is a time of sort of finding our way to adulthood. The Elder connected in that sense. "I believe in me" Have the confidence to just be yourself.

  • this is classic. i love it!

  • wow... people said irregardless back then, too!

  • Sounds like someone has experience with gay ninjas...

  • They look like gay ninjas.

  • thats gotta be the thinest iv ever seen gene 4:09

  • I love this interview! It's funny, loose, interesting, and witty. Paul and Gene are engaging and good humoured. I think the costumes were good, too. They were trying to simplify their costumes because they knew they couldn't just maintain the status quo. Too bad the album was a little on the stinky side! Great interview here, though. I wish Gene was like this more often.

  • I met Flo and Eddie at a Paul McCartney concert. Real nice guys.

  • haha i like pauls hair and headband lmao

  • 1:16 "You look so...good...look at you" haha.

3:30 "We got a big fan right over there"

  • Comment removed

  • i don't like this hair

  • i diddnt like the kiss outfits they had they look weird

  • The best

  • I agree, this IS gold!!

    Thanks for posting this!!

  • Concept albums are the undistinguished disentegration of Rock 'n' Roll as we know it.

  • Who are the most talent out of this duo? Yes, you guessed absolutely righ; Flo & Eddie of The Mothers of...fame, not the Turtles.

  • Hahaha, 2:50 - 3:00 When the old man talking hahaha xD xD And listen to the people there xD

  • my little 11 year old behind me said the elder. now its like the elderly.

  • Gene and Paul looked very nervous about the "unmasked" pics before seeing them...

  • @BurgundyDecker lol i know...

  • @BurgundyDecker HA HA HA youre right.....and then TOTAL relief when the finally see them.

  • A wonderful, rare find!

  • wtf is this??? A local NYC show???

man, as the poster below stated: This is gold!!! Gene will probably have you killed for posting this vid! lol

  • I distinctly recall seeing this late one weekend night in the early 80's. Love the part with Gene's baby pic (tuft). GREAT FIND!

  • Number 17 or 18 on the list of the top 100 things I love about KISS: unlike all the decadent burnout hippies and transvestites of the rock and roll world, these guys are showbiz throwbacks like Bob Hope or Dean Martin.

  • This is gold!

  • Flo and Eddie had a TV show??? When and where was this??!!?

  • Wow, I remember this when it aired. It was also quite possibly the last time that Gene and Paul were interviewed without either of them relying upon a hair replacement system of some type.

  • Ya Bob Ezrin rules! If it wasn't for him and Alice Cooper KISS would never exist, basically they would have nobody to steal everything from.

  • You mean, Ace and Eric. Because Peter was already out of the band, around this time.

  • sorry, but peter was already out off kiss

and ace was not happy with the elder and on the verge off stepping out.

so please go and read the kisstory book before you make a comment.

  • Omg the Turtles Interviewing KISS this is the most craziest thing ever.

  • ace would have totaly up-staged them un this interview format but i still love ace and gene

  • MJSpiritual, Fuck You Idiot. KISS was always great.

  • At least spell right when you're bashing Kiss.

  • I'm more impressed by Flo and Eddie..... I used to listen to them on the Radio when I was a kid, they were fuckin mad men! They really rode that whole Turtles thing to death....

  • they were on the Destroyer Show in Anaheim!

  • where is eric and ace?

  • Flo and Eddie are awesome.. we need more of this show up on youtube!!! So rare!

  • Gene and Paul, young n fresh AWESOME!!
